Understanding how your monitor works helps you obtain the
highest performance performance levels. Before setting up
and using your Constant Care 4000 Parent Pager, please read
this Owner’s Manual completely. It provides helpful tips to
ensure the best operating circumstances for assisting you in
monitoring your child.
We are pleased you chose to buy an Evenflo product and want
you to be just as pleased. We try very hard to produce and
deliver a quality product in terms of appearance and
performance and that is why it is covered by a LIMITED ONE-
YEAR WARRANTY against defects in workmanship or material.
Sometimes, however, a product with a problem slips through
our system, or questions arise regarding the product. When
this happens, we want to help solve the problem as soon as
it is brought to our attention. We therefore ask that you:

You should check your child regularly as this product will not detect
your child's quiet activities.
This product is not intended to be used as a medical monitor, and its
use should not replace adult supervision.
Make sure the Parent's and Baby’s units are functioning properly, on
the same channel, and within reception range of each other.
it is essential to check the sound reception regularly.
Your adapters are equipped with polarized alternating current line
plugs (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will
fit into the outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are
unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reveisin the plug.
If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your e?ectrician
to replace your obsolete outlet. Most building codes
currently require polarized electrical outlets. Do not
defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
1, IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The Evenflo Constant Care 4000 Parent Pager should not
be used as a replacement for adult supervision of
children. Please note that any modification of the
transmitter or receiver will violate FCC compliance and
can void the user’s authority to operate this monitor set.
Read and observe all warnings on the product and in this
Owner’s Manual. Pay special attention to information marked
“WARNING” and “IMPORTANT”. This information can affect your
child’s safety. Keep this Owner‘s Manual nearby for quick and easy
reference.
Avoid placement near water or moisture. Do not use baby’s
unit outdoors. Do not use your monitor near a bathtub, shower,
smk, laundry tub, swimming pool, wet basement, or other locations
where water or moisture may result in electrocution.
Allow for proper ventilation of the adapters and the
monitors. Do not place your monitor on or under a rug, bed, sofa,
blanket or similar object that blocks its ventilation. Do not place it
in a built—in installation such as a bookcase or stereo cabinet. These
may impede the airflow through the ventilation openings.
Remove the batteries from the monitor components and
unplug the AC adapters if the monitor will not be used
for a long period of time.
Avoid placement near heat sources. Do not use your
monitor near a radiator, stove, heat register, or other appliance
(including amplifiers and TVs) that produce heat. Heat can damage
the case of components.
This monitor can be operated by batteries (Parent‘s Unit uses three
AAA batten'es and Baby’s Unit uses one 9 Volt battery) or by the
Evenflo AC adapters provided. The Evenflo AC adapters provided
must be plugged into standard household outlets (120V AC outlet).
Do not use extension cords.
Protect the AC adapter cords. Route cords so they are not
walked on or pinched by items placed upon them, and pay particular
attention to cords at the AC adapter plugs, wall plugs, and where
they plug into the transmitter or receiver.
8. Do not immerse any component in water. Clean the monitor
with a dry cloth.
9. Do notvuse near fluorescent lights, appliances with motors,
televrsions, fans or other machinery. These items may
interfere With the quality of your unit’s transmission or reception.
10. Adapter must be removed from either the transmitter or
receiver for battery operation. In case of power outage, the
batteries will not act as a backup if the AC adapters are engaged.
11. Do not use the monitor if:
- Either adapter cord has been damaged.
0 Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into any of its
components.
0 It has been exposed to rain or water.
0 It has been dropped or something inside is damaged.
0 If any parts are missing or broken. Call Evenflo‘s Parent Link at
1-800-233-592l for instructional literature or product
information if needed.

before returning your monitor for servicing. You may be able
to solve the problem on your own in very little time;

monitor is still under warranty, see Limited Warranty for
instructions. This product should be serviced only by qualified
service personnel at Evenflo Company, Inc. when:
n An AC adapter or its plug has been damaged.
' Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the Transmitter
or Receiver.
- The Transmitter or Receiver do not appear to operate normally or
exhibit a marked change in performance.
14. There are no serviceable parts inside these monitors. Do not open
the cases.

. For best results, use your AC adapters with the monitor. The power is
more consistent than that of the battery, and using the adapter provides
clearer reception.
0 In some homes, battery operation will dramatically reduce the effective
range of the system
0 For best results, use your adapter when you are in the same place (such
as your bedroom at night or the kitchen during the day) over a long
period of time. The adapter provides maximum power, and additional
antenna length.
. This nursery monitor operates over public airwaves. Transmissions from
your Baby’s Unit may be picked up by another product operating on the
same frequency. Your Parent's Unit may also pick up transmissions from
another product on the same frequency. It interference occurs, change
BOTH your Baby’s and Parent’s units to the alternate frequency channel.
0 Always make sure that both units are on the same frequency channel. It
is possible for the Parent's Unit to pick up the Baby’s Unit even if they are
not on the same channel when both units are close together; however,
you’ll experience static and interference.
Warning: Changes or modifications (0 this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user‘s authority to operate equipment.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital

Out—Of—Range Alarm: An alarm will sound through your Parent's Unit if:
0 The units are taken out of range of one another.
t The units are set to different channels.
0 Power to the Baby’s Unit is lost.
0 A strong interfering signal starts on the selected channel.
The Out—Oerange Alarm can only be stopped by rte-establishing contact
between the two units or by turning off the Parent’s Unit. This alaml feature
is de5|gned to give you confidence and reassurance that your Evenflo
Constant Care 4000 Parent Pager is functioning properly.
Operational Range: Your monitor‘s typical transmission/reception range is
typically 600 feet epending on battery power and possible obstmctions (i.e.
walls) that radio waves encounter. The methods and materials used in. your
home’s construction, terrain and other factors may also affect transmission.
Power indicator‘Light: The Power Indicator Light will illuminate green
whenever the unit is turned on, whether the unit is stationary (plugged into
the adapter) or portable (using battery power).
Channel A/B: l‘ interference occurs, change BOTH your Baby's Unit and
Parent’s Unit to the alternate frequency channel. The Constant Care 4000
Parent Pager operates over public airwaves. Transmission from your Baby’s
Unit may be picked up by another product i it is on the same frequency.
Your Parent’s Unit may also pick up transmission from another product if it is
broadcasting from the same frequency.

Troubleshooting Guide
PROBLEM

Audio Out-of-Range alarm sounds
Parent’s Unit may be outside the.transmission range
of the Baby’s Unit.
Baby’s Unit and Parent‘s unit _are on different

Baby‘s Unit is not turned on, or may not
be plugged into a working outlet.
Battery in baby’s unit may be low.
Move Parent’s Unit closer to the Baby‘s Unit.
Make sure that both units are set to the same channel.
Turn the ON/OFF switch on the Baby’s Unit to the
"ON” position.
Check the AC outlet to be sure it is working.
Battery needs to be replaced.
Reception is poor due to
static, buzzing or
interference,
Other household appliances, cordless phones,
fluorescent lights or motors may be disrupting the
signal.
Parent's Unit may be out of effective range.
Battery may be weak
Turn off, unplug or move the device that is causing
the problem.
Move the Parent’s Unit closer to the Baby’s Unit.
