User’s Guide for Jukebox with CD Player Model No. RD66 C ongratulations on your purchase of the Jukebox with CD Player from Excalibur Electronics, Inc. You and your friends will enjoy hours of great music with this innovative product. It can play AM/ FM radio stations, play CDs, MP3s and even lights up. This nostalgic jukebox in it’s wooden cabinet will have you grooving to the good old days in no time. Your Jukebox with CD Player is easy to use, but be sure to use it safely. Before starting, please read this manual thoroughly, especially noting safety and care. Keep this manual for reference. We make you think. 2 BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ANY CABLE, MAKE SURE THAT THE SPEAKERʼS POWER BUTTON IS TURNED OFF. 3 Functions of Knobs and Buttons MODE TUNING VOLUME PLAY/ FF PAUSE LIGHT STOP FW MODE OPEN/CLOSE TUNING: Turn until you find your desired radio station. STOP: Press to stop a track when playing a CD. MODE: Switch to select CD mode, FM/AM stations or “AUX IN” mode. FW (FAST/SKIP BACKWARD): Press to scroll quickly backwards when listening to a CD. ON/OFF VOLUME: Turn clockwise to turn the radio on and to increase the volume. Turn counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and to turn the radio off. FF (FAST/SKIP FORWARD): Press to scroll quickly forward when listening to a CD. LIGHT: OPEN/CLOSE: Press to open or close the door of the CD player. PLAY/PAUSE: Press to play or pause a track when playing a CD. 4 Turn to turn the light on. 5 How to Use To play a CD Your Jukebox with CD player can play AM/ FM radio stations, play CDs, connects to any iPod or MP3 Player and even lights up. To use, first, plug the cord into an electrical outlet. To play a CD, first turn the VOLUME control knob clockwise to turn the unit on. Slide the CD. To Connect an iPod® or MP3 Player You can connect your iPod or MP3 Player into the “AUX IN” connection on the back of the unit. First, turn the unit to the 7 Troubleshooting If your Jukebox with CD Player does not turn on, make sure that it is properly plugged in to a functional electrical outlet. If there is a lot of distortion in your radio signal, try one of the following solutions. Move the radio to a different location. If your radio doesn’t work properly, try one of the following solutions. If your CD player doesn’t work properly, try one of the following solutions. The AM/FM knob isn’t turned far enough in either direction. Turn the knob all the way to the left or right. Reload the disc so the label is facing up or carefully clean the disc with a soft dry cloth. The volume is too low. Turn the VOLUME knob clockwise to increase the volume. The radio isn’t tuned to a station. Rotate the tuning knob until you find your desired radio station. Warning • The lightning flash symbol within the black triangle represents a warning. This unit contains un-insulated dangerous voltage which may be of significant magnitude to cause an electric shock. • This unit uses a laser. • Use of any controls, adjustment or procedures other than those specified within this manual, may result in hazardous radiation exposure. • To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the front or back cover. • To prevent fire or shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. • To prevent electric shock, match the wider side of the electric plug to the wider entrance of the electric socket, making sure to fully plug the electric plug into the socket. • When placing the unit, do not place the unit in humid, hot, cold, or dusty conditions; place the unit on a flat and even surface; do not cover the unit with a cloth or place it against something that may restrict air flow. • When disconnecting or disconnecting the electric cord, grip the plug, not the cord. If you pull from the cord, you could dam age it. • If you are not going to use it for a long period of time, disconnect the plug from the electric socket. 8 • If you leave your unit in a humid place, water droplets and con densation may form inside the unit. If there is condensation inside the unit, it may not function properly. Let the unit stand for one to two hours to allow the unit to dry before using the unit. • Should you experience any trouble, disconnect the electric cord and bring your unit to a qualified technician. 9 Special Care & Handling • Do not place anything on top of the unit. • Avoid rough handling such as bumping or dropping. • Avoid moisture and extreme temperatures. For best results, use between the temperatures of 39˚ F and 100˚ F (4˚ C and 38˚ C). • Unplug the electrical cord prior to cleaning. Clean using only a slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaners with chemical agents. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable l interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. If any such defect is discovered within the warranty period, EXCALIBUR ELECTRONICS, INC., will repair or replace the unit free of charge upon receipt of the unit, shipped postage prepaid and insured to the factory address shown at right. The warranty covers normal consumer use and does not cover damage that occurs in shipment or failure that results from alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, wear and tear, inadequate maintenance, commercial use, or unreasonable use of the unit. Removal of the top panel voids all warranties. This warranty does not cover cost of repairs made or attempted outside of the factory. Ship the unit carefully packed, preferably in the original carton, and send it prepaid, and adequately insured. Include a letter, detailing the complaint and including your daytime telephone number, inside the shipping carton. If your warranty has expired and you want an estimated fee for service, write to the above address, specifying the model and the problem. Any applicable implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness, are hereby limited to 90 DAYS from the date of purchase. Conse-quential or incidental PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR UNIT WITHOUT RECEIVING AN ESTIMATE FOR SERVICING. WE Excalibur Electronics reserves the right to make technical changes without notice in the interest of progress. 11 On Placement • Do not use the unit in places, which are extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid. • Place the unit on a flat and even surface. • Do not restrict the airflow of the unit by placing it in a place with poor airflow, by covering it with a cloth. FCC Information • This device complies with Part 15 of FCC Rules. • Operation is subject to the following two conditions: • This device may not cause harmful interference, and • This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesirable operation. On Safety • When connecting or disconnecting the AC cord, grip the plug and not the cord itself. Pulling the cord may damage it and create a hazard. • When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, dis connect the AC power cord. On Condensation • When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation may form inside the unit. When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally. Let the unit stand for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the unit before use. 12 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Read Instructions – All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated. • Retain Instructions – The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference. • Heed Warnings – All warnings on the product and in the operating instructions should be adhered to. • Follow Instructions – All operating and user instructions should be followed. • Cleaning – Unplug the product from the wall outlet before cleaning. • Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer. • A product and cart combination should be moved with care; quick stops, excessive force and uneven surface may cause the product and cart combination to overturn. • Ventilation – Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s instructions have been adhered to. • Power Sources – This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local power company. For products intended to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions. 13 • • • • • • • Grounding or Polarization – This product may be equipped with a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature; if you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. (FOR USA OR CANADA ONLY) Power-Cord Protection – Power-supply cord should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cord at plugs, convenience receptacles and the point where they exit form the product. Protective Attachment Plug – The product is equipped with an attachment plug having overload protection. This is a safety feature. See Instruction Manual for replacement or resetting or protective device. If replacement of the plug is required, be sure the service technician has used a replacement plug specified by the manufacturer that has the same overload protection as the original plug. Outdoor Antenna Grounding – If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article S10 of National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes and requirements for the grounding electrode. See Figure 131.1. Lightning – For added protection for this product during a lightning storm or when it is left unattended and unused for long period of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. Power Lines – An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits, as contact with them might be fatal. Overloading – Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire 14 • • • • • • • • • or electric shock. Object and liquid Entry – Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. Servicing – Do not attempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Damage Requiring Service – Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions: • When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. • If liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the product, • If the product has been exposed to rain or water, • If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions, adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation. If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way, and When the product exhibits a distinct change in performance – this indicates a need for service. Replacement Parts – When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards. Safety Check – Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to deter mine that the product is in proper operating condition. Wall or Ceiling Mounting – The product should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
