according to the following instructions:

aids in nighttime operation The red illumination
yields clear viewing of the display in a dark

night vision. Three options for activating the lamp
are provided:

Seiect the High/Low RF Output Power, please set
according to the foiiuwing instructions:

DW (DUAL WATCH FEATURE)
The transceivers Scanning features inciude a two—
channel scanning capabiiity. which allows you to
operate between UHF Channel and VHF channei
in the VFO mode, while periodically checking a
user-defined channsi for activity lf one channsi
is received the signal. the scannerwill pause on
that channei.
Piease activate the DW teature according to the

The UV—SR's frequency synthesizer provides the
option of utilizing channel steps of 12.5/25KHZ per
step (optional values ditfer dependlng on the band

wave disappearing after the transmitter ends the

Elimination Oh the contrary, if you want
communication via the repeater, you should disable
the rail Tone Elimination.

SAVE (Battery Saver)
The UV—3R includes a useful Transmit Battery
Saver, which will automatically lower the power
output level when the last signal received was
very strong For example, when you are in the
immediate vicinity of a repeater station, there
generally is no reason to use the high power output
in order to achieve full quietlng access to the
repeater. with the transmit battery saver, the
automatic selection or Low Power operation
conserves battery drain significantly.
To activate the Transmit Battery Saver:
1lt=ress [MENU/LOCK] , rotate the butt.)
knob. come to MENU [14]: SAVE
thhen press [ UN 1 key to enterthe set mode.

The TOT Feature pmvides a saiety switch, which
limits transmission time to a preprogramrneo value
This will conserve battery power by limiting the
length of transmissions. The TOT default is tens.

The uvesR comes With the Repeater Sound
Response feature. When the teature is activated,
the handheld transceiverwrll hear the sound trim
the repeater, that means the handheld transceiver
is working vra the repeater Please see below to

BCLO Busy Channel Lock-out)
The BCL feature prevents the radio's transmitter
trom being activated it a signal strong enough to
break through the 'nolse‘ squelch is present. On
a frequency where stations using diflerent CTCSS
or 005 codes may be active BCLO prevents you
trom disrupting theirccmmunicaticns accidentally
(because your radio may be muted by its own
Tone Decoder). The default setting for the BCLO
is OFF The below instruction is the procedure to
activate the BCLO

Store the Memory channel according to the tollowing instructions:
lSeIect the desired trequency while operating in the VFO mode. Be sure to
set up any desired CTCSS or DCS tones, as well as any repeater ottset.
.Press {F/ALERT} button, then press {UN} key, Channel 01-99
will flash on the LCD, rotate [ DlAL] knob to store the channel between
channel 01799
lPress [UN] key to save the setting.
ORepeat the process above. to store other channels.
