POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only)

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce

the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one

way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not

fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent

removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not

attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be

provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping

over a longer cord.

b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and

may be used if care is exercised in their use.

GETTING STARTED

•Makesurethecarafelidisinplaceandplaceemptycarafeonthe“KeepHot”carafe

plate.

•BrewwaterthroughappliancefollowingtheBREWINGCOFFEEinstructions–without

adding coffee grounds.

•Discardwaterfromthecarafe;rinsepermanentfilterordiscardpaperfilter.

•Turnofftheappliance,unplugandallowittocooldown.

USING WATER FILTER

Note: Replace carbon filter every 60 brewing cycles (after using AUTO CLEAN cycle) or

every 2 months after removing it from the sealed package. Call 800 number on the front

cover for replacements.

1. Remove carbon filter from packing material.

2. Press latch on filter holder to open and place carbon filter inside.

3. Close the filter holder tightly until it snaps into place.

6. Place filter holder inside the water reservoir and insert it into the recess at the bottom

left corner.

REPLACING WATER FILTER

1. Press latch on filter holder to open.

2. Dispose of old carbon filter.

3. Remove new carbon filter from packing material.

4. Place new carbon filter inside filter holder.

5. Close the filter holder tightly until it snaps into place .

6. Place filter holder inside the water reservoir and insert it into the recess at the bottom

left corner.

SETTING THE CLOCK

1. Plug appliance into standard electrical outlet.

2. The digital clock display flashes 12:00.

Note:YoumustsettheclockinordertousetheDELAYEDBREWINGfeature.

3. To change the time: Press HOUR button until the correct time appears on the display.

Whenthetimepassesnoon“PM”illuminatestoletyouknowyouareinPMtime.

If the "PM" is not illuminated it is AM time.

4. Repeat the same procedure with the MIN button to select the minutes.

Note: If the appliance is unplugged or power is interrupted even momentarily, the time

may need to be reset.

BREWING COFFEE

1. Open cover.

2. Fill water reservoir using the carafe with desired amount of cold tap water. Do not exceed

the12-cup(MAX)levelonthewaterreservoir.

Important: There are two overflow holes at the back of the coffeemaker. Be careful not to

overfill the water reservoir to avoid leaking onto the counter or work surface.

3. Insert removable filter basket into filter basket holder.

4.Placepermanentfilteroran8–12cupbasket-stylepaperfilterintotheremovablefilter

basket.

Note: Make sure to lock the removable filter basket in place, the basket handle should be in

front position.

5. Add desired amount of ground coffee.

6. Close cover.

7. Make sure carafe lid is properly attached to the empty carafe. Close the lid.

Note: Coffee may overflow if carafe lid is not properly placed.

8.Placeemptycarafeonthe“KeepHot”carafeplate.

9. Plug power cord into an outlet.

10. If regular brew strength is desired, your coffeemaker is set to brew coffee. (Make sure the

BREWbuttonisinthe“Full”position.).

11. If strong coffee is desired, press the brew strength button to select the strong brew. (Make

suretheBREWbuttonisinthe“Full”position.).

12. Press ON/OFF button; its light illuminates and brewing begins.

13. When coffee stops flowing into carafe, the brew cycle is complete. Coffeemaker beeps

when brew cycle is finished. The time since brewing will be visible at the bottom of the

digital display.

14. Once coffee grounds have cooled, carefully open the cover and, using basket handle,

remove and discard used grounds. Close cover.

15. The coffeemaker will keep brewed coffee hot for 2 hours and then automatically turn off.

(SeeKEEPINGCOFFEEHOT-AUTOOFFsection.)

16. To turn off the coffeemaker at any time press the ON/OFF button. The ON/OFF light shuts

off. Unplug appliance when not in use.

BREWING 1 TO 4 CUPS

Note: This feature slows down the brewing to extract the best flavor when brewing a small

amount of coffee.

1. Addtheappropriateamountofwaterforthenumberofcupstobebrewed(from1–4)

2. Fill the permanent filter or paper filter with desired amount of coffee grounds.

3.PresstheBREWbuttondownsothatthebuttonisinthe1–4CUPposition.

Note: When using this feature coffee will be brewed at regular strength only.

4. Press the ON/OFF button, its light illuminates and the brewing cycle begins.

Note: Press the ON/OFF button to cancel this function.

SNEAK-A-CUP® FEATURE (TO BE USED ONLY FOR COFFEE)

Remove the carafe and brewing is paused. The carafe must be placed back on the carafe plate

in 30 seconds to prevent overflow. Brewing begins again.

Important: The Sneak-A-Cup® feature cannot be used when making tea because the filter

basket holder is removed when brewing tea. You must wait until the tea has finished

brewing.

KEEPING COFFEE and TEA HOT - AUTO OFF FUNCTION

Oncecoffeehasbrewed,thecoffeemakerwillkeepthe“KeepHot”carafeplatehot

between 1 and 2 hours then it shuts off automatically. During that time the time since

brewing is visible at the bottom of the display.

There are 2 preset AUTO OFF times you can select:

Press the AUTO OFF button to select 2 hours.

Press the AUTO OFF button a second time to select 1 hour.

Note: The coffeemaker shuts off when the selected AUTO OFF time is reached.

BREW STRONG

1. Ifstrongercoffeeisdesired,presstheBREWSTRGbuttonbeforepressingtheON/OFF

button. Its light illuminates and function is activated.

2. Ifusingdelayedbrewing,followsteps1through5underDELAYEDBREWING,press

theBREWSTRGbuttonandthenpresstheAUTObutton.Tocancel,presstheBREW

STRGbuttonagainandthelightwillturnoff.

BREWING TEA

Note: It is not necessary to set the clock to brew tea unless you want to use DELAYED

BREWING.

1. Open cover.

2. Fill water reservoir with desired amount of cold tap water. Do not exceed the 12-cup

(MAX)levelonthewaterreservoir.

3. Remove the permanent filter and the filter basket from the coffeemaker to avoid

getting coffee flavor in the tea.

4. Close cover. Fill the removable stainless steel permanent tea filter with the desired

amount of loose tea leaves.

6. Insert the tea filter with the arc at the top of the basket placed toward the pour spout

on the carafe; press down until it is securely in place.

7. Make sure carafe lid is properly attached to the carafe. Close the lid.

Note: Hot water may overflow if carafe lid is not properly placed.

8.Placecarafeonthe“KeepHot”carafeplate.

9. Plug power cord into an outlet.

10. Press the TEA button. Its light illuminates.

11. Press the ON/OFF button; its light illuminates and brewing begins.

12. When water stops flowing into carafe, the tea will be held for 5 minutes to steep.

13. When tea is ready, the coffeemaker beeps when steeping cycle is complete. The time

since brewing is illuminated at the bottom of the LCD.

Important: Sneak-A- Cup® feature cannot be used when making tea. You must wait until

the tea has finished brewing.

14. The coffeemaker will keep brewed tea hot for 2 hours and then automatically turn off.

(SeeKEEPINGCOFFEEandTEAHOT-AUTOOFFsection.)

Note: Coffeemaker shuts off after 2 hours if the AUTO OFF time is not changed to 1 hour.

15. To turn off the coffeemaker at any time press the ON/OFF button. The ON/OFF light

shuts off.

16. Unplug appliance when not in use.

Note: Do not leave tea in the tea pot or tea leaves in the stainless steel permanent filter

overnight.

DELAYED BREWING FOR COFFEE AND TEA

FOR COFFEE

1. Followsteps1through10underBREWINGCOFFEE.

2. Make sure clock has been set to correct time of day.

3. Presstheprogram(PROG)button.

4. The digital clock will display 12:00.

Note: If the coffeemaker has not been unplugged the last delayed brewing time will appear on

the digital display.

5. To change the time: press HOUR button until the desired correct time appears on the

display. Repeat with the MIN button.

Note: If the hour is not changed the clock will CONTINUE TO FLASH 12:00.

6. Press the AUTO button to activate the delayed brewing. The AUTO light illuminates.

7.Tocheckthepresetautotime,pressprogram(PROG)buttonandholdit.Oncebuttonis

released, the clock time displays again.

8. If you want to change the preset auto time, press the (AUTO) button to cancel the preset

time. The light will turn off.

9.Followsteps3through6underDELAYEDBREWING.

10. To cancel delayed brewing, press the AUTO button. The AUTO light shuts off. To brew

coffee immediately press the ON/OFF button.

FOR TEA

of water.

•Ifmakingteaforicedtea,doubletheamountofteausedinbrewing.

Care and Cleaning

CLEANING

•Besuretheunitisunpluggedandhascooled.

•Openthecover.

•Toremovethelterbasket,gripthehandleandliftstraightup.Discardthepaperlter,if

used, and the coffee grounds.

•Washthelterbasket,permanentcoffeelter,tealter,carafeandcarafelidindishwasher,

top rack or wash by hand in hot water and soap.

•Wipetheappliance’sexteriorsurface,controlpaneland“KeepHot”platewithasoftdamp

cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Never immerse the coffeemaker in

water.

•Tocleantheinsideofthecover,openthecoverandleaveintheopenposition.Wipe

surfaces with a damp cloth.

AUTO CLEAN

We recommend cleaning your coffeemaker once a month.

Important: Remove the water lter holder with carbon lter before activating the

AUTO CLEAN.

1. Combine 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in carafe.

2. Pour into water reservoir.

3. Placean8to12cupcupcakestylepaperlterintheremovablelterbasket.Insertlter

basketintolterbasketholderandcloselid.

4. Makesurethelidofthecarafeisinplaceandplaceemptycarafeonthe“KeepHot”carafe

plate.

5. Plug power cord into an outlet.

6. PressAUTOCLEANtoactivatecleaningcycle;theAUTOCLEANlightashes.

7. Part of the mixture will brew through. Remaining mixture will be held in coffeemaker

for 30 minutes before completing its brew through.

Note: The entire cleaning cycle will take 45-60 minutes to complete.

8. When the coffeemaker completes the AUTO CLEAN cycle, it beeps and shuts off

automatically.

9. BrewfreshwaterthroughappliancefollowinginstructionsgiveninGETTINGSTARTED

before brewing coffee again.

WATER FILTER HOLDER

1. Presslatchonlterholdertoopen.

2. Takeoutcarbonlter.

3. Placecarbonlterontopofapapertowel.

4. Filter holder is top rack dishwasher safe or it may be hand washed in warm, sudsy water.

5. Rinsecarbonlterwithtapwater.

6. Placecarbonlterbackinsidelterholder.

7. Closethelterholdertightlyuntilitsnapsintoplace.

8. Placelterholderinsidethewaterreservoirandinsertitintotherecessatthebottom

1. Desempaque el filtro de carbón.

2. Presione la aldaba para abrir el filtro.

3. Inserte el filtro de carbón.

4. Cierre el porta filtro hasta quedar bien enganchado.

5. Coloque el porta filtro adentro del tanque de agua e insértelo en la hendidura

inferior, a la izquierda.

COLOCACIÓN DEL REPUESTO DEL FILTRO DE AGUA

1. Presione la aldaba para abrir.

2. Deseche el filtro de carbón usado.

3. Desempaque el filtro de carbón nuevo.

4. Instale el filtro de carbón nuevo.

5. Cierre bien el porta filtro.

6. Coloque el porta filtro adentro del tanque de agua e insértelo en la hendidura

inferior izquierda.

PROGRAMACIÓN DEL RELÓJ

1. Enchufe la unidad a un tomacorriente estándar.

2. La pantalla digital del reloj muestra 12:00 en forma intermitente.

Nota: Usted debe ajustar el reloj para poder utilizar la función de COLADO

PROGRAMABLE.

3. Para ajustar la hora: Presione el botón HOUR hasta que la hora correcta aparezca

en la pantalla digital.

para indicar que la hora es P.M. Si la luz al lado de las letras "PM" no estáiluminada,

DISPOSITIVO DE INTERRUPCIÓN DE COLADO SNEAK-A-CUP® (solo para café)

Al retirar la jarra,se detiene el proceso de colado. Para evitar un derrame, coloque

de nuevo la jarra sobre la placa antes de 30 segundos. el proceso de colado vuelve a

empezar.

Importante: El dispositivo de interrupción Sneak-A-Cup® no se puede usar para hacer

té porque el cesto del filtro es removido cuando el té está colando. Se debe esperar a

que termine el ciclo de colado.

PARA MANTENER EL CAFÉ CALIENTE - (AUTO OFF)

Una vez que el café cuele, la cafetera mantendrá la placa calefactora caliente durante

1 a 2 horas; luego se apagará automáticamente.

La cafetera tiene 2 tiempos de apagado automático preprogramados para su selección.

Presione el botón AUTO OFF (apagado automatico) 1 vez para seleccionar 2 horas (2).

Presione el botón AUTO OFF 2 veces para seleccionar 1 hora (1).

Nota: La cafetera se apagará en cuanto alcance el tiempo de apagado (AUTO O FF)

seleccionado.

COLADO FUERTE

1. Sideseaelcafémásfuerte,presioneelbotónBREWSTRGantesdepresionarel

botón de encendido/apagado (ON/OFF). Su luz se ilumina y la función se activa.

2. Si está usando la función de colado automático, siga los pasos del 1 al 5 bajo la

seccióncoladoautomático,presioneelbotónBREWSTRGyluegopresioneel

botónAUTO.Paracancelar,presioneelbotónBREWSTRGdenuevoylaluzse

apagará.

PARA HACER TÉ

Nota: No es necesario ajustar la hora para hacer té a no ser que desee usar la función

de colado automático.

1. Abra la tapa.

2. Llene el tanque de agua con la cantidad de agua fría deseada. No exceda el nivel

máximo de 12 tazas.

3. Retire el filtro permanente dorado y el cesto del filtro para evitar que penetre el

sabor de café en el té.

4. Cierre la tapa.

5. Llene el filtro permanente de té con la cantidad de hojas de té deseada.

6. Coloque el filtro de te con el arco en la parte superior del cesto del filtro, colocado

hacia la boquilla de la jarra. Presione hasta que quede seguro en su lugar.

7. Asegúrese de que la tapa de la jarra esté bien colocada. Cierre la tapa.

Nota: El té puede desbordarse si la tapa no está colocada correctamente.

8. Coloque la jarra vacía sobre la placa calefactora.

9. Enchufe el cable a un tomacorriente.

10. Presione el botón de té (TEA), su luz se ilumina.

11. Presione el botón de encendido/apagado (ON/OFF), su luz se ilumina y el colado

comienza.

12. Cuando el agua para de caer en la jarra, se recomienda dejar el té reposar en el

filtro dentro de la jarra por 5 minutos para mejor extracción.

13. Cuando el té está listo, la cafetera emite una señal para indicar que el ciclo de

colado ha terminado.

Importante: La función de Sneak-A-Cup® no se puede usar cuando se está colando té.

Usted tiene que esperar hasta que el té termine de colarse.

14. La cafetera mantendrá el té colado caliente por 2 horas y luego se apagara

automáticamente.

4. Para ajustar los minutos, repita las instrucciones presionando el botón (MIN).

Nota: Si la unidad está desenchufada o hay una interrupción de corriente, aunque sea

momentánea, la hora debe ser ajustada de nuevo.

PARA COLAR CAFÉ

1. Abra la tapa.

2. Llene el tanque de agua con la cantidad de agua fría deseada. No exceda el nivel

máximo de 12 tazas.

Importante: La cafetera tiene dos agujeros por la parte de atrás por si se desborda el

agua. Tenga cuidado de no sobrellenar el tanque para evitar que se derrame agua sobre el

mostrador o superficie de trabajo.

3. Coloque el cesto removible del filtro dentro de la cafetera.

4.Coloqueelfiltropermanenteounfiltrodepapelenformadeconopara8–12tazas

dentro de el cesto removible.

Nota: Asegúrese de colocar el cesto del filtro firme en su lugar, el asa del cesto debe estar

posicionado hacia adelante.

5. Añada la cantidad de café deseada.

6. Cierre la tapa.

7. Asegure que la jarra tenga su tapa bien colocada y cerrada.

Nota: El café puede desbordarse si la tapa no está colocada correctamente.

8. Coloque la jarra vacía sobre la placa calefactora.

9. Enchufe el cable a un tomacorriente.

10. Si desea intensidad regular, la cafetera está lista. Su cafetera está programada para

colarconintensidaregular.Asegurequeelbotónestéenlaposición“Full”.

11.Sideseamayorintensidad,presioneelbotónBREWSTRGparaseleccionaruncolado

más fuerte (asegure que el botón está en la posición de FULL)

12. Presione el botón de encendido/apagado (ON/OFF); su luz se ilumina y el ciclo de

colado comienza.

13. Cuando el café pare de verter dentro de la jarra, el ciclo de colado ha terminado. La

cafetera emite una señal cuando el ciclo de colado ha terminado. El tiempo desde que

se coló el café aparece en la parte inferior de la pantalla digital.

14. Una vez que el café molido ya usado se refresque, levante la tapa con cuidado y

agarre el cesto del filtro por el asa para desechar el café. Cierre la tapa.

15. La cafetera mantendrá el café colado caliente por 2 horas y luego se apagará

automáticamente (consultar PARA MANTENER EL CAFÉ CALIENTE - AUTO OFF).

16. La cafetera se apaga después de 2 horas si el tiempo de apagado automático (AUTO

OFF) no se cambia. Para apagar la cafetera en cualquier momento, presione el botón

de encendido/apagado (ON/OFF). La luz ON/OFF se apaga. Desenchufe la unidad

cuando no esté en uso.

PARA COLAR DE 1 A 4 TAZAS

Nota: Esta opción modera la velocidad del ciclo de colado para extraer el mejor sabor del

café al colar una pequeña cantidad.

1. Añada la cantidad de agua adecuada para el número de tazas de café que va a colar

(de1–4).

2. Llene el filtro permanente o un filtro de papel dentro de la cesta con la cantidad

deseada de café molido.

3. Oprimaelbotón1–4CUPS.Suluzseilumina.

Nota: La opción de intensidad de colado no puede seleccionarse en esta modalidad.

El café se colará con intensidad regular.

4. Oprima el botón de encendido/apagado (ON/OFF); su luz se ilumina y el ciclo de

colado comienza.

LIMPIEZA AUTOMÁTICA (AUTO CLEAN)

Se recomienda que limpie su cafetera una vez al mes.

Importante: Retire el soporte del filtro de agua junto con el filtro de carbón, antes

de activar la function de limpieza automatica (AUTO CLEAN).

1. Combine 6 tazas de vinagre blanco y 4 tazas de agua fría en la jarra.

2. Vierta adentro del tanque de agua.

3. Coloque un filtro de papel para 8 a 12 tazas en el cesto del filtro. Coloque el cesto

adentro de su compartimiento.

4. Asegúrese que la tapa de la jarra esté en su lugar y coloque la jarra sobre la placa de

calentamiento.

5. Enchufe el cable en el tomacorriente.

6. Presione el botón de limpieza automática (AUTO CLEAN). La luz se ilumina de

forma intermitente.

7. Parte de la mezcla se colará. E l resto de la mezcla demorará unos 30 minutos en

colar.

Nota: Un ciclo completo de limpieza demora alrededor de 45 a 60 minutos.

8. Cuando la cafetera acabe el ciclo de limpieza automática (AUTO CLEAN), emite un

sonido y se apaga automáticamente.

9. Antes de colar café, cuele agua limpia siguiendo las instrucciones en la sección

PARA COMENZAR.

PORTA FILTRO

1. Presione la aldaba para abrir el porta filtro.

2. Retire el filtro de carbón.

3. Coloque el filtro de carbón sobre una toalla de papel.

4. El porta filtro puede ser lavado a mano con agua y jabón o en la bandeja superior de

la máquina lavaplatos.

5. Enjuague el filtro de carbón con agua de la llave.

6. Coloque el filtro adentro del porta filtro nuevamente.

7. Cierre el porta filtro hasta quedar bien enganchado.

8. Coloque el porta filtro adentro del tanque de agua e insértelo en la hendidura en la

esquina inferior izquierda.

Nota: Para reemplazar el filtro de agua, consulte la sección REPUESTO DEL FILTRO

DEAGUA.

Nota: Reemplace el filtro de carbón después de cada 60 ciclos, o cada dos meses

después de removerlo del empaque sellado.

Nota: La cafetera se apaga después de 2 horas si el horario de apagado automático no se ha

cambiado a 1 hora.

15. Para apagar la cafetera en cualquier momento, presione el botón de encendido/apagado

(ON/OFF). La luz se apaga.

16. Desenchufe el aparato cuando no esté en uso.

COLADO PROGRAMABLE PARA CAFÉ Y TÉ

PARA CAFÉ

1. Siga los pasos del 1 al 10 bajo PARA COLAR CAFÉ.

2. Asegure que el reloj esté ajustado a la hora correcta del día.

3.Presioneelbotóndeprogramación(PROG).

4.Elrelojdigitalmostrará“12:00”olahoraanteriormenteprogramadaparacomenzar

el ciclo de colado.

Nota: Si la cafetera no se ha desenchufado desde la ultima vez que se programó el ciclo

de colado, la última hora programada aparecerá en el panel digital.

5. Para cambiar la hora, inmediatamente presione el botón HOUR hasta que la pantalla

digital muestre la hora deseada. Repita lo mismo para ajustar los minutos, oprimiendo

el botón MIN.

Nota: Si la hora no se cambia el reloj continuará mostrando "12:00" de forma intermitente.

6. Presione el botón de colado programable (AUTO) para activar el ciclo programable. La

luz del botón de colado programable (AUTO) se encenderá.

7.Pararevisareltiempopreprogramado,presioneelbotóndeprogramación(PROG)y

mantengalo presionado. Cuando suelte el botón, el reloj aparece de nuevo con la hora

seleccionada.

8. Si desea cambiar el tiempo preprogramado, presione el botón de colado programable

(AUTO) para cancelarlo.

9.Sigalasinstruccionesenlospasos3a6bajolaseccióndeCOLADOPROGRAMABLE.

10. Para cancelar el ciclo de colado programable, oprima el botón de colado programable

(AUTO). La luz del botón se apaga. O para colar café inmediatamente presione el

botón ON/OFF.
