Safety Information
N99J2WFMR
Please take these safety precautions under the following conditions:
1. Servicing the vehicle
When servicing (i.e. changing the oil, washing your car) your automobile, the
CompuStar system should be in Valet Mode. There is a safety shutdown
switch under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood
is open. However, if the switch has been damaged or the switch has been
installed improperly, the vehicle may start when Button II is pressed for 2
seconds even if the hood is open.
2. Loaning your vehicle to others
Whenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not familiar with
Compustar, please put the vehicle in Valet mode. This will prevent the
vehicle loaner from accidentally activating the CompuStar auto-security
system.
3. For manual transmission vehicles
If the Compustar 2WSSR is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, extra
precautions are required because the Compustar does not monitor the gear
shift:
Important! Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled
when a door or hatchback opens. Please verify if the opening of any door or
hatchback cancels Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or hatchback is
not monitored by CompuStar because of improper installation or a faulty
dome light switch, do not use the CompuStar and take your vehicle to the
dealer immediately for repair.
Do not set Reservation Mode when the window(s) are open or if there is
anyone inside of the vehicle including animals.

Remote - Pager Learn Routine
If you replace or add additional remotes, you can program up to three
remotes, please perform the following procedure:
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 5
Step 1: Activate Valet/Programming mode by manually turning the ignition
on and off five times (between Acc and On) with car key within a 10 second
period. The parking light will flash once with successful completion of this
step.
Step 2: Within a 10 second period after cycling the ignition for the 5th time,
press button I. The car parking lights will flash once to confirm that the
transmitter has been programmed. Continue program the additional
remotes. The parking lights will flash two times when the programming
mode is expired.
Alarm Mode
You can arm or disarm alarm mode by pressing Button I for a ½ second.
Press Buttons (I+II) for a ½ second to make your car siren mute when
arming or disarming your vehicle. Keep in mind that your car siren will still
activate for all other modes (i.e. panic, alarm, shock sensor) regardless of
whether or not your car siren is in mute mode. The car siren will be mute
only when arming or disarming your vehicle.
In alarm mode, the starter kill function (this maybe an optional feature
provided by your installer) is activated. This feature disengages the starter
mechanism on your car that prevents you from starting your car even with a
manual key when your vehicle’s alarm mode is activated.
Note: If you lose your remote after you have armed the vehicle, use your key
to open the vehicle. The siren will go off. Turn on and off ignition 5 times
with your key to shut off the siren and turn the system into valet mode.
Cancel the valet mode with remote later. See Valet mode.
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
Note: (Siren duration is 30 to 60 sec depending on the options set at the time of initial
installation.)
Dual Stage Shock Sensor
Press Buttons (I+III) for 2 seconds to activate or deactivate the dual stage
shock sensor. The dual stage shock sensor will activate 30 seconds after the
CompuStar alarm mode is armed. When the dual shock sensor is engaged,
the remote-pager security alerts will be triggered by the following:
Light impact to your vehicle will activate the first stage shock
sensor and the car siren will chirp 4 times in addition to the
parking lights flashing 4 times. The remote pager unit will beep
and the hammer icon shows up a couple times
Heavy impact to your vehicle will activate the second stage
shock sensor and the car siren will chirp for 30 to 60 seconds and
the parking lights will flash for 30 to 60 seconds. The remote-pager
will be notified audibly and a hammer icon will blink in the
CompuGLO LCD. Press Button I for a ½ second to turn off the
second stage shock sensor sirens and flashing lights.
Auto - Start Function
Press Button II for 2 seconds to auto-start an automatic transmission engine.
Remember that a manual key in the ignition is required to drive the car. In
addition, the anti-grind circuit (this maybe an optional feature provided by
your installer) prevents you from re-cranking the starter on a remote-started
vehicle. Press Button II for 2 seconds in order to turn off an auto-started car.
For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.
The engine will run 15 or 25 minutes (25 or 40 min for diesel) depending on
preset options at the time of installation and then shut off. If your remotepager has a problem starting the vehicle, CompuStar will try 2 additional
times. If the engine does not start after the third attempt, please call your
authorized CompuStar dealer.

Flashing Battery Icon during remote start. The battery icon flashes
while engine running. Each of the 4 bars of the battery indicates 25% of
the remaining engine running time.
Continuation Mode:
While your vehicle is running with your key, if you press button II for 2
seconds, you are now in the continuation mode. Your engine will continue
running for the preset time even if you take your key from the ignition. With
this mode, the engine will continue running without key during your quick
stop at, for example, a grocery store.
Diagnosing problems with Auto-Start
If there is a problem in auto-starting your car, you will hear three chirps when
you attempt to auto-start the car. Wait for 2 seconds and the cause for the
error will be indicated by the number of times the car chirps and parking
lights flash.

Reservation Off (Manual Transmission Only)
Reservation Mode (manual transmission
only)
In order to auto-start your manual transmission car, you must first set the
CompuStar system to Reservation Mode before leaving your vehicle. The
purpose of Reservation Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutral
position when you leave your vehicle. Reservation mode is intended for use
in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY and NOT FOR AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSIONS. Reservation Mode must be engaged each and every
time you leave your manual transmission car in order to auto-start the
vehicle.
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
Note: The system is not recommended for vehicles with removable tops.
Important Requirements to activate Reservation Mode
The transmission must be in the NEUTRAL position.
The vehicle windows must be rolled up.
Do not set the reservation mode with people in the vehicle.
Do not auto-start the car with people in the vehicle.
Activating Reservation Mode (MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY)
Step 1: After arriving at your destination, and BEFORE TURNING YOUR
ENGINE OFF, place the transmission in the Neutral position.
Step 2: Remove your foot from the foot brake.
Step 3: Activate the parking brake.
Step 4: Remove the key from the ignition. The engine will remain running.
Step 5: Exit the vehicle and close the door within two minutes after
activating the parking brake. The engine will shut off and reservation mode
for the remote starter is now complete.
Your vehicle is now ready for auto-starting. However, the reservation mode
will be cancelled if the door is opened or the CompuStar system is put in
Valet mode after the reservation has been set. Once cancelled, you will have
to start the vehicle with the manual key and repeat the above 5 steps if you
want to restore reservation mode.
Important! If you try to auto-start the vehicle when reservation mode has not
been set or turned on, the auto-start feature will not work. When you press
the auto-start button, the remote beeps three times, the car parking lights will
flash five times and the siren chirps three times. A couple of seconds later,
the cause for the error will be indicated by the number of times the car chirps
and parking lights flash. See Page 11 for error messages.
Canceling Reservation Mode
If you do not want to set reservation mode, shut off the engine before you
exit the vehicle. The engine will shut off for the following reasons:
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
You did not activate the parking brake or press the foot brake
when you turned the manual key to the off position.
You released the parking brake while the engine was running.

Timer Start Mode
In Timer Start Mode, your car automatically starts every 1.5 or 3.0 hours
depending on preset options during the time of installation for a 24-hour
period. This mode is deleted automatically after 24 hours or once you start
your car with either your manual key or remote-pager. In order to enter
Timer Start Mode, press Buttons (II+IV) simultaneously for a ½ second.
Also, note that Timer Start Mode becomes Cold Start Mode once an
optional temperature sensor is installed.
Important! Timer Start Mode should be used only in open areas. Never start
and run the vehicle in an enclosed space such as a garage or carport.
Safety Shut Down Features
CompuStar 2WSSR system has several shut down safety features. The
following actions will shut down the engine or prevent the car from autostarting:
Opening of the car engine hood, Pressing of the brake or Valet mode is
turned on.
RPS (Remote Paging System)
The optional RPS is a feature that allows an individual to page the owner of
a vehicle by simply tapping on the front windshield of the car. RPS is
automatically turned on upon activating alarm mode (pressing Button I for a
½ second) on the CompuStar 2WFMR.
The RPS module can be activated by tapping a manual key producing a
high-frequency vibration. This high-frequency vibration is detected and your
remote-pager will beep and a telephone icon will appear on the CompuGLO
LCD indicating that someone is paging you from your vehicle. Press Button
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
I, II, III or IV for a ½ second to deactivate the RPS visual and audible paging
alerts.
OPTIONAL PROGRAMMABLE
FEA TURES
These additional programmable features can be programmed to the
CompuStar system by your authorized CompuStar dealer.
Ignition Lock
This programmable option enables your vehicle to automatically lock the
doors when the brake pedal is pressed after starting the vehicle with a key.
In addition, the vehicle will automatically unlock the doors upon pulling the
key out from the ignition. However, if the emergency brake wire was
installed, the vehicle will unlock upon the emergency brake is set if the
engine is still running with the key. This option must be chosen at the time of
installation.
Auto Arming – N / A
Passive Arming
You can turn this function on or off by pressing Buttons (II+III) for a ½
second.
When set to passive arming, your security system will arm automatically 30
seconds after all the car doors are closed. There are two types of passive
arming that can be programmed by your CompuStar dealership: (1) passive
arming with passive lock and (2) passive arming with active lock.
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
Passive locking means the door will lock when the system passively arms.
In the default factory setting, the system is armed and locked actively, which
means the system will only arm/lock when the remote-pager is utilized.
Note:
1.
2.
If you select both Auto Arming and Passive Arming,
Auto Arming takes priority over Passive Arming.
If you select Passive Arming with Active Lock in the
programming option, you are also selecting Auto
Arming without Auto Lock. Consult your installer.
Turbo Mode
If this optional Turbo Mode has been programmed at the time of
installation, you can turn this feature on and off by pressing Buttons (III+IV)
for a ½ second.
Under this mode, engine continues running for 2 minutes after key has been
taken out from the ignition if emergency brake was on when the key is taken
out. To utilize this mode, the emergency brake sensing wire has to be
connected to the emergency brake wire of the vehicle. Consult the
authorized dealer for this mode.
OPTIONAL INSTALLATION
FEATURES
The CompuStar 2WSSR remote-pager has additional features and
expansion possibilities that require additional parts and labor.
Cold Start Mode
If the optional temperature sensor has been installed, Timer Start Mode
becomes Cold Start Mode. Under this mode, your car automatically starts if
© 2001 Firstech, Inc. Page 6
the temperature of the inside of the vehicle goes below the preset
temperature. The minimum interval between the starts will be 1.5 or 3.0
hours depending on preset options during the time of installation. Cold Start
Mode is activated or deactivated by pressing Buttons (II+IV) for a ½ second.
Optional Auxiliary 1 & Auxiliary 2
The auxiliary system is an optional car feature that can be tailored for your
vehicle by your local authorized CompuStar dealership. For example, you
can customize your car to have remote power control of your windows,
radio, and sunroof in addition to the rooftop on your convertible car.
