 2  Introducing your BTH-101 Bluetooth headset  Thank you for purchasing the BTH-101 Bluetooth headset. Your BTH-101 enables convenient cord-free communication with mobile phones and Bluetooth devices that are compliant with Bluetooth version 1.1 or higher (and support the headset profile).  To learn how to use BTH-101, please take a few minutes to read the manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference. For further information, please see www.gtek.com.tw. Your BTH-101 Bluetooth headset package includes:   One headset      One AC Adapter used for charging the batteries in the headset        Part  Name   Description   Page 1. Magic Switch  Choose which line to use or make a pairing.  8  Preparing your BTH-101  Charging the batteries and talk time Before using it for the first time you will need to plug in an adaptor jack and charge it fully. (The headset can be either ON or OFF).  While charging: 1.  The indication light (red) on the headset is lit and remains lit until the headset is fully charged. The indication light goes off while charging is completed. 2.  It takes approximately 2 hours for a fill charging then the indication light goes off A full charging provides up to 4 hours of talk time or up to 100 hours of standby time. BTH-101’s batteries do not need to be completely used before charging. Low Battery Warning : The headset needs to be recharged when indication light flashes red. Once the low battery warning starts, you have approximately 3 to 5 minutes of remaining talk time.  Turning your headset ON and OFF To turn your BTH-100 on: 1.  Ensure that the AC Adapter is not plugged in. 2.  Press the “Talk” button firmly, 3.    The indication light will flash every 3 seconds while the headset is turned on. The headset is now in ‘standby’ mode and ready for use.   To turn your BTH-101 off: 1.  Press and hold the “Talk” button firmly for at least 3 seconds until the indication light emits a very short burst of flashes. 2.  Without delay, release the button. The headset is now turned off and no indication light activity in this mode. You will need to wait for 5 seconds before turning it on again. As long as you are recharging your headset regularly, you do not need to turn your headset off after using it – you only need to ‘end the call’ (see Ending a call)   Pairing the headset and multi-adapter   ‘Pairing’ creates a wireless link between two Bluetooth devices such as headset and mobile phone.   1.  Ensure that the AC power adapter is not plugged in. 2.  Ensure that the headset is off. 3.  Put the Magic switch to the assigned line. 4.  Press and hold the “Talk” button about 3 seconds. When the indication light flashes red and green each time after another, it is mean that you are in pairing mode. Then you can release the button. 5.  The indication light will resume to the standby mode (flashing green every 3 seconds) after a short
 4while.  .  Now that the devices are paired, you will not need to repeat the pairing process in future use as long as you are using the same headset. Making a call While you are wearing BTH-101, there are different ways to make a call. Calling from the phone keypads 1.  Ensure that your headset is in standby mode and slide the Magic switch to the right line. 2.  Briefly press on the button to “activate” the headset. Now the indication light is lit still. 3.  Use the phone keypads to dial the numbers. 4.  Press the ‘Send’ key on the phone. * If your call is not answered, you must end the call as described in Ending a call. Calling from the headset with voice commands If your mobile phone supports voice dialing, you can use this feature with the headset.   1.  Ensure that your headset is in standby mode and slide the Magic switch to the right line. 2.  Ensure that the voice dialing on your mobile phone is enabled. 3.  Briefly press on the button to “activate” the headset. Now the indication light is lit still and you can also hear a faint background noise as well. 4.  Speak out the voice tag. 5.  The phone will automatically dial your voice tag. 6.  When connected you are free to talk normally. * If your call is not answered, you must end the call as described in Ending a call.  Remark:We recommend that you record all the voice tags through BTH-101 to “train” your phone for the voice recognition with BTH-101.  Ending a call To end a call: 1.  Use the key(s) as specified by your phone manufacturer. 2.  Or you can press the “talk” button on the headset. The indication light on the headset should now resume to the standby mode. Important:It is strongly suggested that you must always remember to end calls as above described, otherwise, your batteries will run out quickly since BTH-101 will remain in active mode meaning the headset is in use (see Understanding the BTH-101 indication lights). Answering a call Either by pressing the phone keypad or talk button on the headset can answer an incoming call. While talking the indication light will flashes every second showing that the headset is in use. From Headset (recommended method) Briefly press the talk button then talk. From Keypad
 5Answer the call by pressing your phone keypad. The according keypad vary by different answering mode and phone model. After your call, end it as described in Ending a call.   Call-waiting  Some phones allow you to accept another incoming call while you are using BTH-101. This feature varies by mobile service provider and phone model. If you normally hear a beep, you will still hear this beep with your headset. If your phone service supports call-waiting, you can switch between calls by using the standard method specified by your phone manufacturer.    Other useful information Controlling headset volume BTH-101 offers adjustable volume control of its speaker to eight pre-set levels. The curvy Up and Down button identifies the direction to increase or decrease the volume. As you press the unit’s volume control, you should hear the volume change. At the loudest and softest level, you will hear a single beep, indicating maximum and minimum volume. In addition, most phones enable you to set the volume using the phone’s volume controls. Tip:For the best audio quality, put your phone’s volume to maximum and adjust the loudness with the Volume on your BTH-101 headset. Understanding the BTH-101 indication lights Bth-101 provides indications of charging, pairing, and calling status as described in the following table. Your BTH-101 headset range is typically up to 30 feet (approximately 10 meters) from your mobile phone. In general, you will get the best performance when there are no obstructions (including parts of your body) between your headset and the phone. As the limits of the range are reached, you will hear a crackling noise along with your conversation. Will anything interfere with my conversation when I use BTH-101 headset? Appliances such as cordless phones and wireless networking equipment may cause interference with your conversation, usually adding a cracking noise. In rare cases, interference may prevent the
 6headset from communication altogether. To reduce any interference, keep BTH-101 away from other devices that use or produce radio waves. Will my BTH-100 headset interfere with my car’s electronics, radio or computer? Your BTH-101 headset produces significantly less power than a typical mobile phone. It also emits signals only in compliance with the international Bluetooth standard (www.bluetooth.com). Subsequently, you should not expect any interference with standard consumer-grade electronics equipment. Can my conversation be heard by other Bluetooth phone users? Yes. If the mobile support headset profile What about radio frequency power? The BTH-101 headset produces 1%, or less, of a typical mobile phone’s radio frequency power.   Is it okay to wear my BTH-100 in the rain or shower? Your BTH-101 is NOT a waterproof device. Do not wear it in the rain or shower. Expose to water may damage the product. Will BTH-101 work with laptops, PCs, and PDAs? The BTH-101 headset can be paired with all devices that are compliant with Bluetooth version 1.1 and   many cellular phone manufacturers and some personal digital assistant (PDA) manufacturers will support ‘headset’ profile implementation of Bluetooth. Can the batteries be recycled? Yes, Lithium Polymer batteries can be recycled. Recycling regulations vary depending on where you live so please dispose of the headset and multi-adapter accordingly. How do I take care of BTH-101? The headset is virtually maintenance-free. 1.  To clean the headset, use a clean, soft cloth that is slightly damp. 2.  Do not expose the headset to extreme temperatures such as storing it on a vehicle dashboard. Troubleshooting Learning how to use a Bluetooth headset takes more time than a regular headset, but it offers considerable benefits once you’ve mastered it. Here are some common symptoms and solutions that will help to get you going quickly. Switch OFF    BTH-101 before boarding any aircraft to prevent the risk of interference with aircraft communication systems, Switch OFF the headset in any healthcare facility where posted notices instruct you to do so. Hospitals and healthcare facilities may be using equipment that is sensitive to EMI. Patients with implanted cardiac pacemakers should consult their physicians before using BTH-101.
