congratulations on purchasing a Packard Bell 2160 monitor, One of the
most versatile monitors available today, the 2160 monitor automatically
adjusts its vertical and horizontal scanning frequencies to those of your
computer‘s graphic displays, when used with SUPER VGA compatible
graphim adapters and video chip sets (see Specifications).

II. Safety Precautions
To prevent electric shock do not remove screws or cover. There are
no user-serviceable parts infide the monitor. Service should be done
only by a qualified service poison,
. Input power source:
In the United States and Canada, most Ac wall outlets are 120V in a
range 1mm 100 to 125V
The 2160 monitor with a universal power so pl can work from AC
100 to 120V. P y
The monitor is equipped with e three-pronged grounding plug. which
will only fit a grounded power outlet.
This is a safety feature. If you are unebis to Insert the plug into the
outlet, contact an electrician. Your outlet may be obsolete.
. Do not put anything on the cord. A Dam ed power card may cause
fire or electric shock. If your power con! 5 damaged, do not use it.

under bright lights.

For proper operation, keep the monitor adequately ventilated.
Keep the monitor away from wring magnetic fields produced try
transformers, motors. fans, or other flavices.
If the monitor does not operate properly, turn the power Off and
unplug the monitor,
When irregular AC Voltage is supplied, a protective olrouit will turn
oil the monitor (the power indicator will also go off). If this happens,
turn ol'l‘ the p0wer switch and wait at least 30 seconds before turning
it on again.

. The 2160 monflor automatically adapts to the vertical and horizontal

The monitors design allows you to use it with a variety of graphics

The monitor features maximum resolutions of 1024 pixels nrtzontal)
and 768 lines (veninl) in non-interlaced or Interlaced mo es.
This monitor awems analog signal Inputs and ean display up to
282,144 colors, depending upon the type of graphics board and
software used,
Power Management systems:
When used with a Packard Bell Pc that features a power
management system, the monitor's power consumption will
automatimlly be reduced by the PC when the computer has not
been used for a period of time This monitor has a three level power-
saving feature indicated by the changing color of the power LED on
the front panel. When the power saving feature is Initiated, the LED
will change trom green to amber and the monitor's power
consumption will he reduced from approximately 50 watts to less
than 15 or 3 watts. There will be no Image on the monitor when
power management is working. To display the image again, move
he mouse or press a key on the keyboard. It may take up to 10
seconds tor the Image to reappear, This power-saving feature
exceeds the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star
requirements for Display Power Management Signals.

Fl Speaker Attachments:
On each side vi the 2160 monitor are sockets that accept special
Packam Bell Multimedia speakers. Attaching Packard Bell special
speakers to the monitor provides an attractive and convenient way to
house your spedreis, After attaching the special Packard Bail speakers
in the monitor, connect the plugend of the audio input wire to the
somd card at the back of the main CPU box For the best appearance,
the wires can be hidden by placing them into the grooves located
under the monitor and directing them tn the back at the CPU far
conneuliun to the sound card. Full instructions for mounting the
speakers can be found with the speakers,

VI. Connections |
Your monitor has two connection cables.
1. A Power Cord, which connects directly lo a grounded AC outlel
or to a surge proleclur that is connected to a grounded AC outlet
2. A signal Cable, which connects to your compuler's graphim
adapter (VGA connector).
To ensure your safety when connecting the cables, always follow
these four steps:
1. Make sure that the power switches on your computer and monnor
are OFF. Also, make sure the power nerds from both devices
are unplugged.
2. Carefully connect the signal treble from (he moni|ur lo your
oompuler's graphlts adapter (VGA Connector) The signal cable's
connector ls shaped so that it must be pro erly aligned with the
computer’s graphlts adapter (VGA Conne or).
3. Secure me comedian by tightening the two screws on the signal
cable connector.
4. Plug lhe power cord from the computer and monitor into a
grounded AC outlet or a surge Dmteclor lhsl is connected to a
grounded AC oullet.
