Putting On the Heart Rate MonitorNOTE: If you do not have a heart rate monitor,you can skip this task.NOTE: The device may cause chafing whenused for long periods of time. To alleviate thisissue, apply an anti-friction lubricant or gel tothe center of the module where it contacts yourskin.NOTICEDo not apply anti-friction gel or lubricant on theelectrodes.Do not use gels or lubricants that containsunscreen.You should wear the heart rate monitor directlyon your skin, just below your breastplate. Itshould be snug enough to stay in place duringyour activity.1Push one tab À on the strap through theslot Á in the heart rate monitor module.2Press the tab down.3Wet the electrodes  on the back of themodule to create a strong connectionbetween your chest and the heart ratemonitor module.7DRAFT
4Wrap the strap around your chest andattach it to the other side of the heart ratemonitor module.The Garmin® logo should be right-side up.5Bring the device within 3 m (10 ft.) of theheart rate monitor.After you put on the heart rate monitor, it isactive and sending data.Pairing ANT+™ SensorsThe first time you connect an ANT+ sensor toyour device, you must pair the device andsensor. After the initial pairing, the deviceautomatically connects to the sensor when yougo for a run and the sensor is active and withinrange.NOTE: If your device was packaged with aheart rate monitor, the device and sensor arealready paired.1Put on the heart rate monitor (page 7).2Select  .8DRAFT
3Bring the device within 1 cm of the centerof the heart rate monitor, and wait whilethe device connects to the sensor.NOTE: Stay 10 m (33 ft.) away from otherANT+ sensors while pairing.When the device detects the heart ratemonitor, a message appears and displays solid.Turning On the Activity MonitorThe activity monitor feature records your dailystep count, step goal, distance traveled, andcalories burned for each recorded day. Yourcalories burned includes your base metabolismplus activity calories.Select an option:• During the initial setup, select Yes toturn on activity monitoring.•Select   > Settings > ActivityMonitor > Turn On.Your total number of steps taken during theday appears beneath the time of day. The stepcount is updated periodically.TIP: You can select   to scroll through youractivity monitor data.HistoryYou can view your last seven running sessionson your device, and you canupload and view unlimited running sessions onGarmin Connect. When the device memory isfull, your oldest data is overwritten.NOTE: Run history is not recorded while thetimer is stopped or paused.9DRAFT
Viewing History1Select   > History.2Select an option:• Select Daily Steps to view your stepcount, goal, distance traveled, andcalories burned for each recorded day.• Select Runs to view the date, time,distance, pace, calories burned, andlap data for your saved runningsessions.NOTE: You can also view youraverage heart rate and heart rate zonefor saved running sessions using anoptional heart rate monitor.• Select Records to view your personalrecord time, distance, and pace overvarious distances.Device InformationResetting the DeviceIf the device stops responding, you may needto reset it.
