INSTRUCTION TO THE USER
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B
digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a typical installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if
not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that
interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does
cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to
correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna on the device experiencing the
interference
Increase the separation between the Door Manager and the equipment
experiencing the interference.
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to
which the Door Manager is connected
Consult the dealer or experienced technician for the device experiencing
the interference

1 SmartKey2 Overview
The Gatekeeper Systems SmartKey2 combines the functions of the "SmartKey"
and CartKey2 with the ability to pair wheels
1.1 SmartKey2 Diagram
The SmartKey2 uses the same enclosure and battery as the Smart Key.
2 Lock and Unlock
The SmartKey2 will lock or unlock any (GS2, Black Dot, Red Dot, Grey Dot,
Green Dot) Gatekeeper Systems wheel. When the Unlock button
is pressed, the appropriate command is first sent out on 8KHz (with
approximately 3 feet / 1 meter range) and then sent out on 2.4GHz (with
approximately 12 feet / 4 meter range).
When the Lock button is pressed, only 8HKz command will be sent out (with
approximately 3 feet / 1 meter range).
All wheels within the appropriate range will lock or unlock.
3 Status
The SmartKey2 can retrieve status information from any (GS2, Black Dot, Red
Dot, Grey Dot, Green Dot) Gatekeeper Systems wheel.
3.1 GS2 and Black Dot Wheel Status
To retrieve status information from a GS2 or Black Dot wheel (or a Red Dot /
Grey Dot wheel via 8KHz) place the SmartKey2 within 1 inch of the wheel and
press the black status button once. The LCD screen should display rEC .
When the display changes from rEC to iD2 the wheel status is ready for
viewing. The scroll button is used to cycle through the status information
received from the wheel.
3.2 Red Dot and Grey Dot Wheel Status
To retrieve status information from a Red Dot or a Grey Dot wheel (via 2.4GHz)
place the SmartKey2 within 3 feet (1 meter) of the wheel to be read and press the
red/grey status button once. Make sure other wheels are at least 30 feet / 10
meters away. The LCD screen should display rEC . When the display changes
from rEC to iD2 the wheel status is ready for viewing. The scroll button is
used to cycle through the status information received from the wheel.
3.3 Green Dot Wheel Status
To retrieve status information from a Red Dot or a Grey Dot wheel (via 2.4GHz)
place the SmartKey2 within 3 feet (1 meter) of the wheel and press the green
status button once. Make sure other wheels are at least 30 feet / 10 meters
away .The LCD screen should display rEC . When the display changes from
rEC to iD2 the wheel status is ready for viewing. The scroll button is used to
cycle through the status information received from the wheel.
4 Pairing Wheels
The SmartKey2 can pair one Grey Dot and one Green Dot wheel. To pair one
Grey Dot and one Green Dot wheel:
1. Place the Grey Wheel and the Green wheel to be paired within 3 feet / 1
meter of the SmartKey2. (wheels may be on a shopping cart).
2. Make sure there are no other Red Dot / Grey Dot / Green Dot wheels
within 30 feet / 10 meters of the SmartKey2.
3. Press the pair button once.
The SmartKey2 will display dashes as it is performing the pairing operation.
When the pairing operation is complete, the Super Key will display either Pass
if the wheels were successfully paired or an error code. See the table below for
error code definitions:

The SmartKey2 will only pair wheels with SW versions 2.5 or greater. Both
wheels must be at the same SW version.
5.3 Signal Analysis Mode Codes
The SmartKey2 will d isplay various codes to indicate the different codes used for
8KHz.
