GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be a GE DE-

CASHIELD® 175 luminaire, ordering number _______ (specify

SPMM or SYMM, plus ordering number logic from catalog), or

approved equal, for operation of one _____ (specify [50, 70,

100 or 150(55V)] watt high pressure sodium [HPS] or [70, 100

or 175] watt metal halide or mercury) medium-base lamp from

a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 220, 240, 277, 347 or

480 volt, 60 Hz or 220 volt, 50 Hz) power source and shall be

capable of starting and operating the specified lamp within

the limits specified by the lamp manufacturer. The luminaire

shall contain a completely prewired integral ballast and optical

assembly that shall provide an IES Distribution Type _______

(specify MC3 or SC5 according to photometric selection table in

the catalog). The luminaire shall be UL/cUL Listed SUITABLE FOR

WET LOCATIONS. Standard construction is IP55. Ballast, hous-

ing, optical and luminaire assembly shall all be from the same

manufacturer. OPTICAL ASSEMBLY

DECASHIELD ® 175 LUMINAIRE

The optical assembly shall be enclosed, sealed and gasketed

with a standard heat and impact-resistant tempered flat glass

or optional _______ (specify UV stabilized polycarbonate or

acrylic prismatic 2-inch [51 mm] drop lens).

The optical assembly shall have a one-piece hydroformed alu-

minum reflector with a _______ (specify chemically bonded

lightweight non-breakable ALGLAS® finish providing corrosion-

resistance, durability and easy cleaning [MC3] or an Alzak✝

finish [SC5]) on inside and outside surfaces.

BALLAST OPERATION

The luminaire shall contain a _______ (specify) type ballast* in

full compliance with lamp-ballast specifications available to the

fixture manufacturers from the lamp manufacturers at the time

of fixture manufacture. The plug-in type ignitor (for HPS only)

and ballast shall be prewired to the lamp socket requiring con-

nection of power supply leads only.

The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient

temperatures down to -20°F for metal halide or mercury and

-40°F for HPS.

For convenience, the luminaire is shipped assembled with me-

dium base E26 lamp installed in socket, ready for installation.

The luminaire shall include a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum

housing with a _______ (specify dark bronze, black, charcoal

gray, aluminum or white) paint finish, _______ (specify acrylic

2-inch [51 mm] drop lens, polycarbonate 2-inch [51 mm] drop

lens or flat tempered glass), medium base socket and lamp,

and choice of _______ (specify square pole, pole-top yoke or

wall) mount. There shall be a prewired photoelectric control

receptacle available.

SPMM

There shall be a mounting bracket with removable cover, nut

plate hole and strain relief assembly for easy access wiring or

optional wall mounting plate.

SYMM

There shall be an integral yolk arm assembly for mounting on

3-inch (76 mm) OD pole tenon.
