1. Shut down your computer
2. Insert the WL-ZOI /WL-301 into the PCMCIA slot /ISA slot on your
notebook /PC mainboard or adapter properly.
3. Turn on your computer.
Software Installation
D . .
This procedure must be done after finishing hardware installation. There are
two ways for software installation. Normally, Windows will find the W’L—201 or
WL-30l automatically. Just follow the instructions to install driver. If not,
please refer to the second way listing in troubleshooting information.

Configuration
nesadption
IEEE802.11 defines two operating mode; “ad-hoe” mode and “Infrastructure”
mode.
The concept of “ad-hoe” is that several wireless stations (such as notebooks)
can get together in a local area (such as conference room) to form a wireless
network. This would enable the sharing of documents and collaborative
working using applications (such as Microsofi’s NetMeeting). In “ad-hoe”
mode all the operations are peer to peer and no access point is required.
The “Infrastructure” mode requires the use of an access point. In this mode all
wireless communication is between a station and an access point. Even if there
are two wireless stations they can communicate directly in the manner
described for “ad-hoe” networks, they must communicate with each other via
the access point.
In our system, we use “Instrawave” which has attributes of “ad-hoe” and is
allowed to use the Intalk Access Point to communicate with a wired LAN. This
is easy use for a network that is composed of peer to peer and AP access
architecture. Comparatively, the “Structuenet” allow a MIS manager to easily
monitor a whole network.

1. After finishing installing software and rebooting the computer, the screen
will show a dialog box titled “Enter Network Password”. You can enter your
password if it had been set or just click “OK”.

2.Double clicking “sta.rt\settings\control panelmetwork” to open network
wizard where you can configure and setup network settings (such as
windows, netware, and intemet settings).
3. Select “ indentifiction” to give your computer a unique name and a working
group name. If you want to share data with other person, you have to make
sure you have the same workgroup name.

4. Select “configuration” and double click “access point client” for WL-ZOI
card or “access point client ISA PnP Adapter” for WL-301 card to setup
“operating mode” (structurenet is default) and channel (10 is default). In
instawave mode, the APs and stations that want to share data are supposed to
set the same channel. In “structurenet” mode, at least an AP is requisite and
the ESS ID has to be set as the same as AP’s. Because this mode has chamel-
scanning function, you don’t need to set Channel. More detailed functions will
be described in AP user manual. So far you have finished WL-201 or WL-301
card’s setting. The following procedure is for network environment setting.

5. If your network work on TCP/IP protocol environment (usually, for
connecting to Internet), you have to add TCP/IP protocol. Click
“add” button to open “select network component type” wizard.
Double clicking “Protocol” and choose manufactures “Microsoft”.
Then double clicking “TCP/IP" to get this protocol.

6. Double clicking “TCP/IP” to open “TCP/IP properties”. Due to
different network applications there are many different settings
here. Basically, you need setup “gateway” , “DNS configuration” ,
and ”IP address” for connecting to intemet. Your ISP is supposed
to supply the information.
7. For Microsoft network environment, you need to setup “client for
Microsoft networks”. The “Windows NT domain” is the same name
as “workgroup” under “indentification”.
