 Programming and Information Guide  Programming 2-Button HomeLink:  Before programming HomeLink® •  During programming, it is possible that garage doors, gates, or other devices may operate. For this reason, make sure that people and objects are clear of the garage door or other devices to prevent injury or other potential harm. •  It is recommended that a new battery be placed in the remote control transmitter for more accurate programming. •  Garage door opener motors manufactured after 1995 may be equipped with rolling code protection. If this is the case, you may need a stepladder or other sturdy, safe device to reach the “Learn” or “Smart” button on the garage door motor. •  Please note that the instructions below apply to the majority of HomeLink use cases.  However, there are some HomeLink applications or HomeLink compatible systems that require slightly different instructions.       Programming a brand new HomeLink •  Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface, keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view. •  Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then changes to solid or rapidly flashing. The change in flashing indicates the frequency signal has been learned. o  Note: Some gate operators and garage door openers may require you to use the “cycling” procedure noted in the “Programming an entry gate” section. •  Press and hold the programmed HomeLink button and observe the indicator light. o  If the indicator light is solid/continuous, programming is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released. o  If the indicator light blinks rapidly, proceed with the following programming instructions for a rolling code device. o  A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Use a stepladder or other stable, safe device. • Rolling Code •  At the garage door opener motor in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the “learn” or “smart” button, reference the garage door opener’s manual. •  Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). o  Note: Once the button is pressed, there are typically about 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step. •  Return to the vehicle and press and release the programmed HomeLink button. Repeat the “press/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process. HomeLink should now activate your rolling code equipped device. •  To program additional HomeLink buttons, repeat this process. •  Once programmed, the HomeLink Wireless Control System or the original hand-held transmitter may be used to activate the device (e.g. garage door, entry lock, gate, etc.).  Programming an entry gate (for U.S.A. owners)/Programming a device in the Canadian market •  Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface, keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view. •  Using both hands, hold the HomeLink button, and simultaneously press and release the hand-held transmitter button at 2-second intervals. DO NOT release the HomeLink button until the indicator light flashes slowly and then changes to solid or rapidly flashing. The change in flashing indicates the frequency signal has been learned.

Reprogramming a single HomeLink button When the following procedure is performed, buttons which already have devices registered to them can be overwritten: •  Press and hold the desired HomeLink button. •  After about 20 seconds, the HomeLink indicator will start slowly flashing.  While continuing to hold the HomeLink button, position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink and press and hold the hand held transmitter button until HomeLink indicator light changes to solid or rapid flashing. The change in flashing indicates the frequency signal has been learned so, you can release both the buttons.  o  Note: Some gate operators and garage door openers may require you to use the “cycling” procedure noted in the “Programming an entry gate” section. •  Press and hold the programmed HomeLink button and observe the indicator light. o  If the indicator light is solid/continuous, programming is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released. o  If the indicator light blinks rapidly, proceed with the instructions listed in the “Rolling Code” section.   •  If you do not program a new device to the button, it will revert to the previously held programming.  Erasing Your HomeLink memory (both buttons) •  Press and hold both buttons for 10 seconds until the HomeLink indicator light changes from solid to flashing indicator. •  If you sell your vehicle, be sure to erase the HomeLink memory.   Sommer Rolling Code Programming Steps: •  Note: if you are training two devices, and only one is a Sommer, you will need to train the Sommer unit first, and then follow the “Reprogramming a single HomeLink button” instructions for your second device. •  Press and hold both HomeLink buttons for 20 seconds until the LED turns off.
 Programming and Information Guide  •  The HomeLink is now ready to be programmed to the Sommer Rolling Code Opener garage door. o  A second person will make the following steps quicker and easier. Use a stepladder or other stable, safe device. •  At the garage door opener motor in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the “learn” or “smart” button, reference the garage door opener’s manual. •  Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by model). •  Note: Once the button is pressed, there are between 10 and 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step. •  Return to the vehicle and press and release the programmed HomeLink button. Repeat the “press/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process. HomeLink should now activate your Sommer rolling code equipped device. •  To train additional Sommer devices to your other HomeLink button, repeat steps 4-7 of this process. To train your other HomeLink button to a non-Sommer device, follow the steps listed in “Reprogramming a single HomeLink button.”   FCC (USA) and IC (Canada): This device complies with FCC rules part 15 and Industry Canada RSS-210. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference that may be received including interference that may cause undesired operation. WARNING: The transmitter has been tested and complies with FCC and IC rules. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the device.  This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. End Users must follow the specific operating instructions for satisfying RF exposure compliance. This transmitter must be at least 20 cm from the user and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.  The term “IC:” before the certification/registration number only signifies that Industry Canada technical specifications were met.
