Themanufactureroftheendproductshallconsiderthefollowinghints:
1)Theendproduct(host)withthemodulebuiltinsidemustbemarkedasfollows:
ContainsTransmitterModuleFCCID:TVU‐MD40/IC:8023A‐MD40
Operationissubjecttothefollowingtwoconditions:(1)thisdevicemaynotcauseharmful
interference,and(2)thisdevicemustacceptanyinterferencereceived,including
interferencethatmaycauseundesiredoperation.

FCCInformation:
Changesormodificationstotheequipmentnotexpresslyapprovedbythepartyresponsible
forcompliancecouldvoidtheuser'sauthoritytooperatetheequipment.
ThisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforClassBdigital
device,pursuanttoPart15oftheFCCRules.Operationissubjecttothefollowingtwo
conditions:(1)Thisdevicemaynotcauseharmfulinterference,and(2)Thisdevicemust
acceptanyinterferencereceived,includinginterferencethatmaycauseundesired
operation.
Theselimitsaredesignedtoprovidereasonableprotectionagainstharmfulinterferenceina
residentialinstallation.Thisequipmentgenerates,usesandcanradiateradiofrequency
energyand,ifnotinstalledandusedinaccordancewiththeinstructions,maycauseharmful
interferencetoradiocommunications.
However,thereisnoguaranteethatinterferencewillnotoccurinaparticularinstallation.If
thisequipmentdoescauseharmfulinterferencetoradioortelevisionreception,whichcan
bedeterminedbyturningthesystemoffandon,theuserisencouragedtotrytocorrectthe
interferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingmeasures:
1.Reorientorrelocatethereceivingantenna.
2.Increasetheseparationbetweentheendproductandreceiver.
3.Connecttheendproductintoanoutletonacircuitdifferentfromthattowhichthe
receiverisconnected.
4.ConsultthedealeroranexperiencedradioTVtechnicianforhelp.

Repairstocertifiedequipmentshouldbecoordinatedbyarepresentativedesignatedbythe
supplier.
Usersshouldensurefortheirownprotectionthattheelectricalgroundconnectionsofthe
powerutility,telephonelinesandinternalmetallicwaterpipesystem,ifpresent,are
connectedtogether.
Thisprecautionmaybeparticularlyimportantinruralareas.
NOTE:Usersshouldnotattempttomakesuchconnectionsthemselves,butshouldcontact
theappropriateelectricinspectionauthority,orelectrician,asappropriate.Thisproduct
meetstheapplicableIndustryCanadatechnicalspecifications.
ThisClassBdigitalapparatuscomplieswithCanadianICES‐003.

3)GeneralInformation
AhostproductisrequiredtocomplywithallapplicableFCCequipmentauthorizations
regulations,requirementsandequipmentfunctionsnotassociatedwiththetransmitter
moduleportion.Forexample,compliancemustbedemonstratedtoregulationsforother
transmittercomponentswithinthehostproduct;torequirementsforunintentional
radiators(Part15B),suchasdigitaldevices,computerperipherals,radioreceivers,etc.;and
toadditionalauthorizationrequirementsforthenon‐transmitterfunctionsonthe
transmittermodule(i.e.,Verification,orDeclarationofConformity)(e.g.,BluetoothandWiFi
transmittermodulesmayalsocontaindigitallogicfunctions)asappropriate.
Toensurecompliancewithallnon‐transmitterfunctionsthehostmanufactureris
responsibleforensuringcompliancewiththemodule(s)installedandfullyoperational.For
example,ifahostwaspreviouslyauthorizedasanunintentionalradiatorunderthe
DeclarationofConformityprocedurewithoutatransmittercertifiedmoduleandamoduleis
added,thehostmanufacturerisresponsibleforensuringthatafterthemoduleisinstalled
andoperationalthehostcontinuestobecompliantwiththePart15Bunintentionalradiator
requirements.

Singleorlimited‐singlemodulesandtheRFfront‐endsectionofasplitorlimitedsplit‐
modulemustbeaseparatephysicalassemblythatcanbeinstalledinto(orattachedto)a
hostasaseparatesub‐assembly(daughter‐boardsub‐assembly).Themethodusedforinput
andoutputelectricalconnectionstothehostcanbesoldered,cabled,wired,oruseplug‐in
connectors.Amodulecannotbesolelytheimplementationofadesignspecification.Only
thecontrol‐elementsectionofasplit‐moduledevicemaycomprisesoftwarecertifiedas
companioncodetoaspecificRFfront‐end(section).
Ahostusingacomponentthathasbeenauthorizedasamodulemay,subjecttothe
requirementsdescribedbelowandtheconditionsofthegrant,(1)bemarketedandsold
withthemodulebuiltinsidethatdoesnothavetobeend‐useraccessible/replaceable,or(2)
bemarketedwiththemodulebeingend‐userplug‐and‐playreplaceable.
Theantenna(s)usedforthistransmittermustnotbecollocatedoroperatedinconjunction
withanyotherantennaortransmitterwithinahostdevice,exceptinaccordancewithFCC
multi‐transmitterproductprocedures.
TheGigasetMD40willbedeliveredwithdefaultsettingswhichfulfilltheregulatory
standards.Ifparametersarechanged,theconformitytotheregulatorystandardscouldnot
befulfilled.Thedistributorhastoprovetheconformitytotheregulatoryrequirementsagain

Incustomerrelateddocumentsoftheendproductlikeinstructionmanuals,installation
guidesetc.appropriatesafetyinstructionshavetobeincluded.
Thesupplierofthecompletesystemisresponsibleforthesesafetyinstructions.
ThetransmittedRF‐signalismodulatedinatimemultiplexprocesswithaframelengthof
10ms(100Hz).Apossibledemodulationindeviceswithelectro‐acousticallytransducerscan
causeahummingnoise.
ThetransmittedRF‐signalcancausemalfunctionsinelectronicdeviceslocatedclosetothe
module.
ThespecificexternalpowersupplyfortheCordlessVoiceModuleSC14CVMDECThasto
fulfilltherequirementsaccordingtoclause2.5(Limitedpowersource)ofthisstandardEN
60950‐1:2006.
Interconnectioncircuitsshallbeselectedtoprovidecontinuedconformancetothe
requirementsofclause2.2forSELV(SafetyExtraLowVoltage)circuitsaccordingtoEN
60950‐1:2006aftermakingconnections.

Requirementsadditionaltothosespecifiedincommonsafetystandardsmaybenecessary
for:
‐Equipmentintendedforoperationinspecialenvironments(forexample,extremesof
temperature,excessivedust,moistureorvibration,flammablegasesandcorrosiveor
explosiveatmospheres).
‐Equipmentintendedtobeusedinvehicles,onboardshipsoraircraft,intropicalcountries
orataltitudesgreaterthan2000m.
‐Equipmentintendedforusewhereingressofwaterispossible.
Installationbyqualifiedpersonnelonly!
Theproductisacomponentintendedforinstallationanduseincompleteequipment.The
finalacceptanceofthecomponentisdependentuponitsinstallationanduseincomplete
equipment.
GigasetMD40containsaninternalfusewhichisimplementedasatrackonthePCB.
Thefuseistrippedatacurrentof3‐4A.Themodulehastobeexchangedifthefuseis
blown.
Medicalandelectronicdevicescanbeaffectedintheirfunction.
Considerthetechnicalconditionsofyoursurroundinge.g.medicalpractice.
TheGigasetMD40cancauseannoyingnoiseinhearingaids.
Pointyourcustomertothefactthatyoursystem/devicebehaveslikeacordlesstelephone.
Thisappliesespeciallyfortheindoorandoutdoorrange.
Alsoconsiderthattheradiolinkcanbeinterruptedbyexternalenvironmentalinfluences
(e.g.motorvehicleswhichaffecttheradiocoverageattherangelimit).
Withoutasufficientsupplyvoltage(e.g.anemptybattery)theequipmentcan’twork
correctly.

5)Installationguide
Themoduleshallbeoperatedonlywiththevoltagestatedinthespecification.
ThemodulecontainsaninternalfusewhichisimplementedasatrackonthePCB.
Thefuseistrippedatacurrentof3‐4A.Themodulehastobeexchangedifthefuseis
blown.
TheMD40isintendedtobefixedatthehostboardwithtwoM2.5screwsondistancebolts.
Thetwodistanceboltsmusthavealengthof6.2mm(+‐0.2mm)andadiameterof
4mm(+‐0.5mm).
ThemoduleissuppliedwithtwoDECT‐antennasprings.
Theinternalantennasareinstalledbypluggingtheantennaspringsintotheantennaports.
Itisrecommendedtoprotecttheantennasagainstmechanicalshocksorvibrationinthe
hostdeviceinwhichtheengineisinstalled.
ThemoduleisconformwiththeFCCandIndustryCanadaregulationswiththeprovided
internalantennas(C39363‐A290‐B35/JohannVitzGmbH&Co.KG)only.
Ifotherantennasareusedintheendproduct,anewassessmentofconformitywiththe
regulatorystandardsismandatory.

Foroptimumperformance,anantennagenerallyneedstobesurroundedbyan
unobstructedspaceafewwavelengthsinsize.
Anydielectricorconductingmaterialintheimmediatevicinityofanantennaaffectsthe
radiationpatternandperformanceoftheantenna.Hence,whenevermechanicaldesign
allows,asmuchspaceaspossiblemustbeleftcleararoundtheantennaspring(min.40mm).
ThisensuresthattheimpactofsurroundingPCBsorotherconductingparts(cablesetc.)on
theantenna’sperformancecanbekeptatanacceptablelevel.
If,formechanicalreasons,thereisonlylimitedroomaroundtheengine’santennasprings,
theeffectofthisontheantenna’sperformanceandFCC/IndustryCanadatypeapprovals
needstobetakenintoaccount,togetherwiththeresultingreductioninachievablerange.
ForthepurposesofESDprotection,internalantennasmusthaveanairgapofatleast10
mmfromanypossiblepositionoftheESDtestfingerortestprobe,toavoidanairdischarge.
Ifexternalantennasareused,thegroundshieldofthecoaxialcableisconnectedtothe
groundofthehostinterface.Therequirementsofthesafetystandardshavetobe
considered.
Airdischargeontotheexternalantennaortheantennaconnectorsmaycausetemporary
lossofsynchronizationbetweenthefixedpartandtheportablepart.InV.24replacement
modethisresultsinaninterruptionoftheconnectionforseveralseconds.InGAP‐PPmode
theconnectionwillbereleased.
Toavoidtheseeffects,careshouldbetakenindesigningthehousingandthearrangement
oftheexternalantennas.Thecoaxialcableshieldingmustbepreventedfromconductionthe
dischargecurrentawayovertheDECTEnginee.g.byadirectgroundconnectiontoametal
housingontheantennaconnector.Ifaplastichousingisused,allmetallicsurfacesmustbe
coveredbyplasticmaterial.Metallicsurfacesshouldhaveanairgapofatleast10mmfrom
anypossiblepositionoftheESDtestfingerortestprobe,toavoidanairdischarge.
