This device is designed only to monitor the sounds of your child. It will not alert you to your child’s silent activities. When using the monitor, you must still provide the supervision necessary for the continued safety of your child. This product is not designed or intended for use as a medical monitor. Always be sure that both the transmitter and receiver are working properly and are within range of each other. • STRANGULATION HAZARD. Keep the adapter cords out of the reach of children. Do not use with extension cords. • DO NOT place the Nursery Unit or its cord within your child’s reach. Do not put the Nursery Unit inside a crib or play yard. • Use ONLY with 110-120 volt AC electrical outlets. • Protect the AC adapter cords. Place them so they are not walked on or pinched by furniture or other items. • Allow for proper ventilation when units are in use. Do not cover the Nursery Unit or Parent Units with any object such as a blanket. Do not place it in a drawer or in any location which would muffle the sound or interfere with the normal flow of air. • DO NOT immerse any part of the Nursery Unit or Parent Units in water. Clean only with a dry cloth. • DO NOT place unit near water and moisture. Do not use the Nursery Unit outdoors. Do not use the Nursery Unit near possible wet areas, such as a bathtub, shower, wash basin, sink, laundry tub, swimming pool, wet basement, etc. • Keep Nursery Unit away from heat sources, such as fireplaces, radiators, stoves, and TVs or other appliances. Heat can damage the case or electrical parts. • DO NOT use the Nursery Unit if: • The adapter cords or plugs have been damaged. • The unit has been exposed to liquids. • Unit has been dropped or is damaged. • DO NOT OPEN THE NURSERY UNIT, PARENT UNITS, OR ADAPTERS. No user-serviceable parts inside. Risk of electrical shock, fire or death. • The antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm (7.9”) from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Remove the battery door cover on the Parent Unit with a key or flat blade screw driver. Remove the battery pack from the packaging and plug into the back of the unit. Place the battery pack into the recess and press the wire into the slot on the side. Replace the battery door. Nursery Unit • Turn the unit over, and use screw driver to remove the battery door. • Place 3-AAA (1.5V-LR03) batteries into the battery compartment. Note the proper orientation of the batteries. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon zinc), or rechargeable (ni-cadmium, etc) batteries. • Place the battery door back on the unit. • Please remove a dead battery promptly. A dead battery left in the unit may leak, damaging your unit. • Do not attempt to recharge a non-rechargeable battery. • A rechargeable battery CANNOT be recharged by plugging the AC adapter into the Nursery Unit. • Remove the batteries from the unit if it is no longer being used or will be stored for an extended period of time. Plug in cord Batteries should be disposed of properly by recycling. Using AC Adapters • The Parent Unit(s) can use either the rechargeable battery that comes with the unit or standard 120 volt AC household current. The Nursery Unit uses 3-AAA (1.5V-LR03) batteries or standard 120 volt AC household current. • To use AC adapters, plug the connector on the cord into the AC adapter jack on the side of the Parent Unit and the back of the Nursery Unit, then plug adapter into a standard wall outlet. • Use ONLY the Graco adapters included with the unit. Do not use these adapters with other equipment under any circumstances. • If units do not work, check that AC adapters are plugged into working outlets. • When electricity is off (from a power failure, etc.), the Nursery Unit will operate on 3-AAA (1.5V-LR03) batteries. If the Power LED is not lit, turn the power off and then back on to the Nursery Unit. A green LED indicates that the batteries are fine. A red LED indicates that the batteries are low. If the LED does not light at all, then replace the batteries. The Parent Unit will operate if the rechargeable battery is charged. Selecting Channels • In case you are experiencing some interference, the channel on the Nursery Unit can be changed by pressing the “ch” button on the side of the unit. The Parent Unit will automatically scan all of the available channels until it locks on to the Nursery Unit. If you are still experiencing interference, press the channel button on the side of the Nursery Unit up to 6 times until a good channel is found. Low Battery Indication Parent Unit • When the battery is low in the parent unit, the LED bar on the side of the unit will change from green to red and you will hear a series of 3 audible beeps every 10 to 15 seconds. If operated too long on a low battery, you may also experience a poor signal and the connection LED on the front of the parent unit may change from green to red and you will hear a series of 2 audible beeps every 10 to 15 seconds. • You may either turn off the unit or plug in the A/C adapter to recharge the batteries. Nursery Unit • When the batteries are low in the Nursery Unit, the power LED will change from green to red. You may also experience a poor signal and the connection LED on the front of the Parent Unit may change from green to red and you will begin to hear the Parent Unit beep. • You may either turn off the unit, plug in the A/C adapter or replace the batteries. Out of Range Indication • If the Parent Unit begins to lose the signal from the Nursery Unit, the connection LED (bottom Sound Light LED) will change from green to red. Additionally, you will hear a series of 2 audible beeps every 10 to 15 seconds to warn the user that the connection to the Nursery unit has been lost. • Immediately move the Parent Unit closer to the Nursery Unit to regain connection. • Once connection has been re-gained, the connection LED will change from red to green and the audible beep will stop. ***Note: It is not uncommon for the Parent Unit to occasionally lose and regain connection with the Nursery Unit in environments that have a significant amount of obstructions. Setting Up the Baby Monitor ***NOTE: It is very important that the steps below be followed for first time power-up. 1. For optimum operation, it is best to charge the batteries in the Parent Units for at least 16 hours prior to use. The rechargeable batteries need to be installed into the Parent Unit before charging - refer to the “Battery Installation” section. 2. Place the Nursery Unit within 10 feet (3 meters) of your baby. Plug an AC adapter into the jack on the back of the Nursery Unit. Plug it into a working 120 volt AC outlet. 3. Aim the Nursery Unit toward your baby. Check that there are no walls or large objects that could block sound transmission. 4. Place the Parent Unit within five (5) feet (1.5 meters) of the Nursery Unit and turn on the Parent Unit using the On/Off switch on the side of the unit. All of the Sound Light LEDs will illuminate, and the bottom LED will be red. You will also hear a single audible beep. 5. Turn on the Nursery Unit using the On/Off switch on the front. The green power light should come on. 6. Within a few seconds, the Parent Unit will lock on to the Nursery Unit and the top four (4) green LEDs will shut off. A second later, you will hear a series of beeps and the connection LED should change from red to green. Your monitor is now ready for use. Testing the System It is VERY IMPORTANT to test the system when first set up, and at regular times thereafter. Test the units if you suspect they may have been damaged or have not been used for a long time. 1. If two adults are present, have one take the Parent Units to different locations, trying various volume settings, while the other speaks into the Nursery Unit. 2. If only one adult is available, place a ticking clock, radio, or other sound-producing device near the Nursery Unit to test it. 3. When testing, keep the level of your child’s sounds in mind, and adjust the volume accordingly. 4. If there is sound interference, switch the Nursery Unit and the Parent Units to the other channel setting. Operation To Listen To Baby • Turn on Nursery Unit using the ON/OFF switch. • Turn on one or both Parent Units using the ON/OFF switch. • Adjust the volume on the Parent Unit by pressing the Volume Up/Down buttons. Note that the Sound Lights LEDs illuminate as the volume button is pressed up or down to provide a visual feedback for the volume level. The unit will beep louder or softer depending on the volume level. • The Sound Lights on the Parent Unit will illuminate as your child (or other objects) make noise near the Nursery Unit. Please note that the Sound Lights and volume control on the Parent Unit are independent of each other. With the volume turned all the way down, the Sound Lights will still illuminate as your child (or other objects) make noise near the Nursery Unit. Vibration Alert Feature 1.To turn on the Vibration Alert Feature, set the switch on the side of the parent unit to on. 2. To adjust the level at which the vibration alert is activated, press and hold the “Vibe” button on the side of the parent unit. The Sound Lights will illuminate to show the vibration alert adjustment setting. Press the volume UP/DOWN switch to change the setting. A lower sound light setting will make the vibration activate for quieter sounds. A higher sound light setting will make the vibration activate for louder sounds. When the sound in the nursery goes above the sound light level you choose, the vibration alert will be activated. 3. Release the “Vibe” Button. Parent Finder Feature • This feature will allow you to locate a misplaced Parent Unit as long as the Parent Unit is powered on and within range of the Nursery Unit. • To activate, press the “PF” button on the front of the Nursery Unit (the Nursery Unit needs to be ON). • The Parent Unit will generate an audible beep every second and the Sound Lights will flash on and off. • Once the Parent Unit is located, the audible beep can be shut-off by pressing any button on the Parent Unit. NightLight Feature 1. Press the NightLight Button on the top of the Nursery Unit once for low setting, twice for high setting and a third time to turn it off. TroubleShooting DO NOT ATTEMPT to modify the unit. Any modifications to the transmitter and/or receiver can void the operator’s authority to operate the equipment. Most problems have a simple solution. First, check that: Pairing Parent Unit and Child Unit. To ensure privacy, your Parent Unit is paired with your Nursery Unit at the factory. Your Parent Unit will not work with any other Nursery Unit. • Power is turned ON for both units • Both units are plugged in (or batteries are fresh in Nursery Unit and fully charged in Parent Unit) If Parent Unit won’t lock onto the Nursery Unit, or you purchased a new Nursery Unit, follow the procedure below to pair the Parent Unit and Nursery Unit. If you purchased a new Parent Unit, skip Step 1. The new Parent Unit is ready to pair with your Nursery Unit. • Electrical outlet works • Volume is turned up on Parent Unit • Parent Unit is in range of the Nursery Unit No Sound 1. Erase the Pairing from the Parent Unit. • Battery dead or weak — replace or use AC adapter. • Turn the Parent Unit off. • AC adapter not properly connected — check the connections. • Nursery Unit covered or blocked — remove the obstruction. Weak Sound • Hold the Volume Down Button on the Parent Unit while pressing the On/Off Button. Continue to hold the Volume Down Button until you hear a single beep and all of the Sound Lights illuminate briefly. • Nursery Unit too far from baby — move closer. • Release the Volume Down Button. • Large objects blocking the signal — try repositioning Nursery Unit. • Press and hold the Volume Down Button again. • Within 2 seconds you will hear a beep. Release the Volume Down Button. All of the Sound Lights and the red Loss Connection LED will be lit. The Parent Unit is ready to pair with Nursery Unit. • Volume setting too low — turn it up. Static • Interference from other electrical equipment — eliminate cause of static (TVs, mixers, computers, fans, fluorescent lights, light dimmers, etc.) 2. Pair the Parent Unit with Nursery. • Place Nursery Unit in the same room, five (5) feet (1.5 meters) away from the Parent Unit. • Parent Unit too far from Nursery Unit — move them closer. • Turn on Nursery Unit using the On/Off Button on the side. The green power light should come on. • Significant amount of obstructions between Parent Unit and Nursery Unit such as walls, ceilings & buildings. Try moving the Nursery Unit to another part of the room. • Within a few seconds, the Parent Unit will find the Nursery Unit. The Sound Lights will shut off and the Parent Unit will beep. The Parent Unit is now paired with Nursery Unit. • Change channel on Nursery Unit. 3. Repeat this procedure if you need to pair another Parent Unit with the Nursery Unit. Shrill Sound (Feedback) • Nursery Unit and Parent Unit too close together — move them farther apart. Nothing happened when I turned on the Nursery Unit. What do I do? • Volume set too high — lower the volume. • First try turning the Nursery Unit off, and then on again. Parent Unit Will Not Lock on Child Unit • If the Parent Unit still does not pair with the Nursery Unit, press the Channel Button on the Nursery Unit, then turn the Nursery Unit off, and then on again. • All of the Sound Lights are illuminated and the unit beeps — Go to Pairing Parent and Child Unit section. Note la orientación correcta de las pilas. • No mezcle pilas viejas con nuevas. • No mezcle pilas alcalinas, estándar (carbono-cinc) o recargables (níquel-cadmio). • Ponga la puerta de las pilas de nuevo en la unidad. • Por favor, saque la pila descargada inmediatamente. Una pila descargada en la unidad podría perder y dañar a la unidad. • No trate de recargar pilas que no son recargables. • Una pila recargable NO PUEDE recargarse enchufando el adaptador de corriente alternada en la Unidad del dormitorio. • Saque las pilas de la unidad si ya no la usa más o si la guardará durante un período largo de tiempo. Instale la pila Se deben desechar las pilas correctamente a través del reciclado. Uso de los adaptadores de corriente alternada • Las Unidades para padres pueden usar la pila recargable que viene con la unidad o la electricidad estándar de la vivienda de 120 voltios de corriente alternada. La Unidad del dormitorio usa 3 pilas tamaño AAA (1,5 V-LR03) o la electricidad estándar de la vivienda de 120 voltios de corriente alternada. • Para usar los adaptadores de corriente alternada, enchufe la conexión del cordón en el enchufe del adaptador de la corriente alternada en el costado de la Unidad para padres y la parte trasera de la Unidad del dormitorio. Si la luz del diodo electroluminiscente no se enciende, cambie las pilas. La Unidad para padres funcionará si la pila recargable está cargada. Selección de canales • En caso de experimentar alguna interferencia, el canal de la Unidad del dormitorio puede cambiarse oprimiendo el botón “ch” en el costado de la unidad. La Unidad para padres automáticamente verifica todos los canales disponibles hasta que encuentre la Unidad del dormitorio. Instalación del monitor del bebé ***NOTA: Es muy importante que los pasos que siguen se observen durante la primera instalación. 1. Para un funcionamiento óptimo, es mejor cargar las pilas en la unidad para padres por lo menos durante 16 horas antes del uso. Las pilas recargables necesitan instalarse en la unidad para padres antes de que se carguen; consulte la sección “Instalación de las pilas”. 2. Ponga la Unidad del dormitorio dentro de una distancia de 10 pies (3 metros) de su bebé. Enchufe un adaptador de corriente alternada en el enchufe trasero de la Unidad del dormitorio. Enchúfelo a un tomacorriente energizado de 120 voltios de corriente alternada. 3. Oriente la Unidad del dormitorio hacia su bebé. Verifique que no haya paredes ni objetos grandes que pudieran bloquear la transmisión del sonido. 4. Ponga la Unidad para padres dentro de una distancia de cinco (5) pies (1,5 metros) de la Unidad del dormitorio y encienda la Unidad para padres usando el interruptor de encendido y apagado del costado de la unidad. Pruebe las unidades si sospecha que podrían haber resultado dañadas o no han sido usadas durante un tiempo largo. 1. Si hay dos adultos presentes, haga que uno lleve las Unidades para padres a lugares diferentes, probando varios niveles del volumen mientras el otro habla en la Unidad del dormitorio. 2. Si solamente hay un adulto disponible, ponga un reloj que suene, radio u otro dispositivo que produzca sonidos cerca de la Unidad del dormitorio para probarla. 3. Si hay interferencia con el sonido, pase la Unidad del dormitorio y las Unidades para padres a otro canal. Para activar la función de alerta con vibración, ponga el interruptor del costado de la unidad para padres en la posición encendido. 2. Para ajustar el nivel al que se activa la alerta de vibración, presione y mantenga presionado el botón de Vibración (“Vibe”), al costado de la unidad para padres. Las luces de sonido se iluminarán para mostrar la configuración de ajuste de la alerta de vibración. Presione el interruptor de volumen SUBIR/BAJAR para cambiar la configuración. Una configuración de luz de sonidos bajos activará la vibración para sonidos más suaves. Una configuración de luz de sonidos altos activará la vibración para sonidos más fuertes. Cuando el sonido en el dormitorio supere el nivel de luz de sonido que eligió, se activará la alerta de vibración. 3. Libere el botón “vibración”. Función de búsqueda de padres • Algunas unidades vienen equipadas con una función de Búsqueda de padres. Esta función le permite ubicar a la Unidad para padres siempre que la Unidad esté encendida y dentro de la distancia de la Unidad del dormitorio. • Para activarla, oprima el botón “PF” en el frente de la unidad del dormitorio (la unidad del dormitorio debe estar ENCENDIDA). • La Unidad para padres generará un sonido cada segundo y las luces indicadoras de sonido destellarán. • Una vez que ha encontrado la Unidad para padres, el sonido se apagará si oprime cualquier botón en la unidad. Función de la luz nocturna 1. Oprima el botón luz nocturna de la unidad del dormitorio una vez para el nivel bajo, dos veces para el valor alto y una tercera vez para apagarla. SOLUCIÓN DE DESPERFECTOS NO INTENTE MODIFICAR LA UNIDAD. CUALQUIER MODIFICACIÓN AL TRANSMISOR Y/O RECEPTOR PUEDE CANCELAR LA AUTORIDAD DEL OPERADOR PARA USAR EL EQUIPO. La mayoría de los problemas tienen simple solución. Primero, verifique que: Programación de la unidad para padres y la unidad del dormitorio. • La electricidad esté ENCENDIDA en ambas unidades. Para asegurar la privacidad, la unidad para padres se programa con la unidad del dormitorio en la fábrica. La unidad para padres no funcionará con ninguna otra unidad del dormitorio. • Ambas unidades estén enchufadas (o que las pilas están cargadas en la Unidad del dormitorio y totalmente cargadas en la Unidad para padres) • El tomacorriente está energizado • El volumen está alto en la Unidad para padres • La Unidad para padres está dentro de la distancia requerida de la Unidad del dormitorio No hay sonido • La pila está descargada o con poca carga – cámbiela o use el adaptador de corriente alternada. Si la unidad para padres no conecta con una unidad del dormitorio o si compró una nueva unidad del dormitorio, siga el procedimiento que sigue para programar la unidad para padres y la unidad para el dormitorio. Si compró una nueva unidad para padres, evite el paso 1. La nueva unidad para padres está lista para programarse con su unidad del dormitorio. 1. Borrar la programación de la unidad para padres • Apague la unidad para padres. • El adaptador de corriente alternada no está conectado correctamente – verifique las conexiones. • Oprima el botón para bajar el volumen en la unidad para padres mientras oprime el botón de encendido/apagado. Continúe oprimiendo el botón para bajar el volumen hasta que escuche un solo sonido y todas las luces de sonido se enciendan por un breve momento. • La Unidad del dormitorio está cubierta o bloqueada – saque la obstrucción. Bajo sonido • Libere el botón para bajar el volumen. • La Unidad del dormitorio está demasiado lejos del bebé – muévala más cerca. • Oprima y mantenga oprimido nuevamente el botón para bajar el volumen. • Objetos grandes bloquean la señal – trate de poner la Unidad del dormitorio en otro lugar. En 2 segundos, escuchará un sonido. Libere el botón para bajar el volumen. Se encenderán todas las luces de sonido y el diodo electroluminiscente rojo. La unidad para padres está lista para ser programada con la unidad del dormitorio. • Volumen demasiado bajo – súbalo. Estática • Interferencia de otros equipos eléctricos – elimine la causa de la estática (televisores, mezcladores, computadoras, ventiladores, luces fluorescentes, potenciómetro de luces, etc.) 2. Programar la unidad para padres con la unidad del dormitorio • Ponga la unidad del dormitorio en la misma habitación, a cinco (5) pies (1,5 metros) de distancia de la unidad para padres. • La Unidad para padres está demasiado lejos de la Unidad del dormitorio – muévala más cerca. • Encienda la unidad del dormitorio usando el botón de encendido y apagado del costado. Sonido agudo (retroalimentación) • La Unidad del dormitorio y la Unidad para padres están demasiado cerca – sepárelas más. • Volumen fijado demasiado alto – baje el volumen. La unidad para padres no se comunica con la unidad para niños •Se iluminan todas las luces indicadoras de sonido y la unidad suena — consulte la sección Programación de la unidad para padres y unidad para niños. • Las luces de sonido verdes se encenderán. La unidad para padres está programada con la unidad del dormitorio. 3. Repetir este procedimiento si necesita programar otra unidad para padres con la unidad del dormitorio. No pasó nada cuando encendí la unidad del dormitorio. ¿Qué debo hacer? • Primero, pruebe apagar la unidad del dormitorio y volver a encenderla. • Si la unidad para padres no se programa con la unidad del dormitorio, oprima el botón del canal en la unidad del dormitorio, luego apague la unidad del dormitorio y vuelva a prenderla.
