Introduction
Our wireless Smart Plug allows you to easily control your appliances and other
Jennet-IP compliant devices from anywhere. The Smart Plug is a smart outlet
adapter that connects your device to an electrical outlet and your home network.
You can manage your connected device using our mobile application or remote
control. Our mobile application allows you to create a Smart Control schedule
that automates your devices to your personal routine. You can program the
smart schedule to turn devices on or off at any time and reduce the power of a
device.
Our solution consists of two types of Smart Plugs:
• Standard
Our standard Smart Plug allows you to power on or off your connected device. For instance, you
can plug your oven into a Smart Plug, then use the mobile application to preheat your oven while
standing in line at the grocery store. If you’re not quite ready to start cooking once at home, you
can use the remote control to turn your oven off; all without leaving the living room sofa.
• Dimmable
With our dimmable Smart Plug, you can dim your connected device as well as turn the power on
and off. Simply, slide the dimmer on the mobile application or remote control or press the dimmer
on the Smart Plug. For instance, you can dim the lighting in your home or reduce the oven
temperature remotely.
Smart Plugs automatically connect to your Wireless Gateway and link to your home’s existing Wi-Fi
network to provide high-quality reliable communication. The Wireless Gateway passes controls between
your devices and our mobile application, allowing you to control your devices from any location.

Activity Indicator
The Smart Plug has four operation modes that display the following patterns:
Mode Indication and Description
Unpaired Pair your Smart Plug with your Gateway: When you plug your Smart Plug
into a power outlet, the Activity indicator starts to flash at 1Hz until it pairs with
your Gateway. The Activity indicator becomes solid green and the Smart Plug
is powered on.
Once your Smart Plug is paired, it remains paired to your Gateway, even
when unplugged. When plugged into a power outlet, the Activity indicator on
your paired Smart Plug immediately turns solid green and is powered on.
Powered Off Activity indicator — off (no color): Smart Plug is powered off.
Powered On Activity indicator — green: Smart Plug is powered on.
Identify Mode Activity indicator — flashing green slowly at 0.4Hz: Smart Plug is being
configured by the mobile application or your Gateway. The identify mode
allows you to easily see which Smart Plug is being configured.
Factory Reset Activity indicator — flashing green at 2Hz for 5 seconds: The factory
reset has started, followed by the Smart Plug entering unpaired mode. In
unpaired mode, the Activity indicator flashes green at 1Hz.

Getting Started
Before you plug in and install your Smart Plug, verify your Wireless Gateway is operating and connected
to the Internet. For information on setting up your Wireless Gateway, refer to the instructions that came
with your Wireless Gateway.
Follow these steps to install your Smart Plug:
Step 1: Pair your Smart Plug with your Wireless Gateway
Step 2: Connect your device to your Smart Plug
Step 3: Add your connected device to your online account
Step 1: Pair your Smart Plug with your Wireless Gateway
You can select your appliance or electronic device to plug into your Smart Plug. The best choice is
devices, such as ovens, that power down instantly and do not require a staged power-down process. For
instance, computers use a staged process to power down and instantly powering off the power may
cause loss of work.
Perform the following steps:
1. Plug your Smart Plug into an electrical outlet. The Power button turns green to indicate that
power is on.
As your Smart Plug automatically searches for your Wireless Gateway and home network, the
Power indicator begins to flash green. This pairing process continues until your Wireless Gateway
is found and the Power indicator turns a solid green.
2. If needed, move your Smart Plug to the location where you will plug in your device. When you
unplug your Smart Plug to move it, your Smart Plug remains paired to your Wireless Gateway.

Step 2: Connect Your Device to your Smart Plug
You can select your appliance or electronic device to plug into your Smart Plug. The best choice is a
device, such as an oven, that power down instantly and do not require a staged power-down process. In
contrast, computers use a staged process to power down and instantly powering off the power may cause
loss of work.
Perform the following steps:
1. Select the appliance or electronic device to connect to your Smart Plug.
2. Turn the device off, unplug it from the power source, and then plug it into your Smart Plug port.
3. Turn the device on.
4. Verify your Smart Plug is powered on. You can now add your connected device to your online
account.
Step 3: Add Connected Device to Your Online Account
To remotely manage your connected device, you must set up your connected device in your online
account. When you log in to your account, you can also access online help for additional information and
instructions on working with the mobile devices.
Perform the following steps:
1. Using your smart device, log in to your online account. The Main menu displays.
2. Tap Add New Devices. The wizard guides you through the process.

Operating Information
Appliance and Electronic Device Selection Guidelines
When choosing the appliance and electronic device to connect to your Smart Plug, please keep the
following in mind:
•
Devices, such as computers, are designed to require a staged power-down process. It is possible
that any instant loss of power, such as a Smart Plug being powered off, may cause temporary or
permanent damage to such devices. We recommend you that refer to the manufacturer’s
instructions before deciding to use a Smart Plug with such a device.
•
Medical equipment and other special appliances should never be powered on and off through a
Smart Plug because you might inadvertently disconnect power to the device.
•
Do not plug devices, such as irons, space heaters or power tools, into a Smart Plug. These types
of devices should never be left unattended and should never be left in the ON position.
Network information
The Connected by TCP solution operates in the ISM bands 2.4GHz spectrum, using a tree-based Jennet-
IP network protocol. The exact operating frequency channel will be automatically selected based on
network traffic in the deployed environment. Jennet’s frequency channels are strategically placed
between Wi-Fi channels to avoid interference.
Indoor Use Only
Your Smart Plug should only be used in dry, indoor locations. Do not use your Smart Plug in high-
humidity locations such as greenhouses, saunas, washrooms or patios. Do not use your Smart Plug in
locations where it can get wet, such as near aquariums or running water.
Do Not Disassemble
Your Smart Plug has no user-serviceable parts inside. If you experience persistent malfunctions, please
contact Customer Service to arrange for repair at a certified service location. Do not attempt to
disassemble your Smart Plug for any reason.
