A new dimension of vision –
Full HD with Motion Compensation

HD Evolution by Grundig.
Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels
The greater the number of pixels, the sharper and more detailed the picture resolution. The 1920 x 1080
pixels provide HD Evolution with the highest picture resolution with the most natural picture playback.
The pictures are extremely detailed and stunningly real due to the great depth effect.
Full HD with Motion Compensation by Grundig
The new TV generation with visibly sharper pictures, and are jerk-free, at last. Grundig televisions with
Motion Compensation always provide excellent playback. Now we can introduce this picture
improving technology for full HD television images as well. The newest high-speed processing chip set
calculates additional intermediate pictures on scanned fi lms and integrates them into the appropriate
motion phases. This ensures a natural fl ow of movements and outstanding picture quality for fast-
moving scenes.

HD Evolution 1920 x 1080
2,073,600 pixels

To create more fl owing movements, a device calculates an extra movement phase and inserts it between
every two. For LCD TV standard two pictures are constructed – with Motion Compensation one more
picture is calculated. This makes the TV picture visibly smoother and gains in detail for extra picture sharp -
ness avoiding the “jerks” that come with fast camera pans.

Digital Reference Plus II by Grundig
Impressive developments for perfect viewing
Digital Reference Plus II is the latest high-
speed chip technology to use the
parameters optimised by Grundig
engineers for natural TV pictures.
Incoming HDTV signals are optimised so
that every single pixel is processed. At the
same time, any picture errors are
detected and immediately optimized. This
innovative picture improvement
technology results in perfect picture
quality, with brilliant colours to the
smallest level of detail. DIGI 200 –
internal signal processing:
The Chassis Platform DIGI 200 (Digital
Reference Plus II) can handle panels with
3 x 8 bits and 3 x 10 bits (2 channel
10/8bit LVDS output). The very fast,
in-built “Scaler IC” VGC-B works
internally in two full channels with
10 bits (dual channel 10 bit video process-
ing). The DIGI 200 “Perfect Clear function
(can be switched on and off) ensures an
outstanding, high-contrast picture.
Grundig DVB Micro Receiver
Just plug it into the SCART socket of a Grundig HD Evolution and the
DVB micro receiver becomes a genuine IDTV television. You can
operate it using the remote control of the LCD TV, so a second
remote control and changing operating levels is no longer
necessary. The power supply is also for the TV.
A DVB-T and a DVB-C variation of the mini receiver will also be
launched shortly.
Easy Dialog by Grundig
Top marks for excellent user-convenience
The much-praised, self-explanatory Grundig Easy Dialog user menu is a clear, fast and easy to use
on-screen dialog system. Combined with an integrated electronic operating manual enabling you to easily
make your own settings.
HDMI (High Defi nition Multimedia

Natural View
Natural colours in cinema quality
Grundig TVs have always stood for particularly natural pictures. With HD Evolution, colours in cinema-
quality enter your living room. The colours in the picture are reproduced faithfully and improved when
necessary. Here Grundig proves with HD Evolution that the latest digital technology has achieved the
maximum in terms of natural colour reproduction.
Dynamic Contrast Plus
The best pictures from light to dark
The picture contrast shows the relationship between the brightest and darkest picture display. Our new
dynamic contrast optimisation ensures that the screen always guarantees the best possible contrast for
the picture content. And this means optimally adjusted depth of focus.
Magic Fidelity by Grundig
The patented sound system for great sound
This loudspeaker concept patented for Grundig lets you enjoy a large sound experience even at low
volumes, which is a great advantage for fl at TVs in particular. The technological basis for this is formed
by three amplifi er output stages within the device, which are adapted to their speakers in the medium-
treble range and to the subwoofer. On the basis of this design, a total of 40 watts of audio power is
suffi cient to create an outstanding sound.
High-Speed Panel
In modern, high-resolution TVs, the use of the latest generation of panels is an important requirement
for achieving optimal picture quality. Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) of the latest design are distin-
guished by their high reaction speed, also known as afterglow duration. In the HD Evolution LCD TV by
Grundig, the Full HD panel with an afterglow duration of less than 8 ms is of the very highest class.
This is achieved by a new technique, known as “overdrive”. The Grundig engineers have attained the
optimal relationship between the high-speed chip already mentioned and this high-speed panel –
resulting in the most natural TV pictures ever achieved.

Important technical terms – easily explained!
HD ready
The HD ready label classifi es the technical features of LCD TVs and
their ability to show high resolution television pictures (HDTV). The
European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics
Technology Industry Association (EICTA) has defi ned the guidelines
for HD ready certifi cation:
In a 16:9 wide-screen format, the display must have a physical
vertical picture resolution of at least 720 lines.
The electronics must be able to process analogue as well as
digital signals for high resolution video pictures.
A high-quality component input (YUV) with a progressive
picture display must be available for analogue picture signals.
HDMI or DVI connections can be used for digital picture signals.
The digital connections must be coupled with the HDCP copy
protection system.
Full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels
Full HD means “high defi nition television”. This refers to the characte-
ristics of a HDTV compatible television which is able to generate the
highest possible HD resolution of 1:1. The best televisions have the
highest possible resolution in High Defi nition, namely 1920 x 1080
pixels in full screen.
Motion Compensation
Grundig has been the fi rst to achieve the technology for Full HD with
Motion Compensation, which provides outstanding picture quality for
natural motion and even for fast movements, such as in sports. For
every two movement phases, the device calculates a third and inserts
it between them. This makes the picture smoother, sharper and more
detailed. Above all, this eliminates the blurring and jerking motions
which often occur during fast camera movements.
Digital Reference Plus II technology
The picture improvement technology, Digital Reference Plus II
optimises the control for each individual pixel in the signal proces-
sing, and simultaneously recognises and removes picture faults.
Digital 3D comb fi lter
On old TV sets the picture often shows shimmering colour distortions
in fi ne structures such as found on coarsely-woven or checked
material. To minimize this distortion, a state-of-the-art 3D comb fi lter
is integrated as part of Grundig's picture improvement concept for
the HD Evolution LCD TVs.
Digital Colour Transition Improvement (DCTI)
and Digital Luminance Transition Improvement
(DLTI)
In addition to the digital 3D comb fi lter, there is the Digital Colour
Transition Improvement (DCTI) and the Digital Luminance Transition
Improvement (DLTI), which are also part of the Grundig picture
improvement concept. DCTI improves the colour display on the
screen as it counteracts the “blurring” of colours. DLTI heightens the
black and white contours on the television picture and improves the
differences in brightness on the screen.
Larger viewing angle
The larger viewing angle of 178° allows you to enjoy the picture
quality of the Grundig HD Evolution LCD TVs from practically any
camera angle without losing any colour or brightness. Just what you
need for getting together with the whole family for pure television
enjoyment in front of a large-format fl at screen TV.
Virtual Dolby® Surround
Virtual Dolby® Surround is technology developed by Dolby that
simulates the sound of a surround system on your television
loudspeakers. Dolby Surround Effect was created as an innovative,
electronic solution which is integrated in the television and only
requires two loudspeakers.
HDMI/DVI
HDMI (High Defi nition Multimedia Interface) is the digital connection
of the future. An HDMI cable transmits signals for digital pictures,
digital surround sound and digital appliance control. The digital
picture connection must have the state-of-the-art HDCP copy
protection system (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
Digital Video Interface (DVI) is an interface for digitally transferring
video data – for LCDs with DIGI 200 chassis and for digital audio
signals. Using a DVI input on the television, signals from digital
sources such as a HDD recorder or a DVD player are processed.
Complete digital transmission means you gain signifi cant improve-
ments in the picture quality compared to a SCART cable connection.
Converting from digital to analogue and back to digital is no longer
necessary when using DVI.
Progressive Scan (YUV)
Progressive Scan is technology for the picture structure on television
sets. The television is fed with real full frames instead of the usual
alternate fi elds. The picture is then sharper and smoother and
ickering is completely eliminated. To get this connection, television
sets require a source that can transmit the Progressive Scan pictures
(such as a DVD player) either an analogue VGA or YUV input
(Component Video) or a digital DVI or HDMI connection.
System remote control PR 100/TP 170 C
Four in one – the system remote control replaces up to four remote
controls and can operate all the functions of your television, DVB
receiver, HDD/DVD recorder and DVD player. The remote control is
specially designed for our high-class range of televisions.

silver metallic surfaces and the improved feel and balance.

You will be impressed – and not only with our elegant design and ease of use. The Grundig DVD
player GDP 3560 has an HDMI output and a scaler, and will turn your living room into a real home
cinema. Our DVD player can be used to show HD-JPEGs with 2 mega pixels on a Full HD screen.
