For Autodesk Customers
Subscription Terminology Changes
1.1 What changes are happening to Autodesk subscription?
On February 1, 2016, we will introduce intuitive new terminology to help drive clarity and simplicity in our
subscription offerings. Essentially, we’re doing away with subscription branding in order to make it easier for
you to choose and purchase the best Autodesk products and services to fit your business needs.
The tables below outline the new subscription terminology for:
Subscription-based offerings
Formally known as:
Now referred to as:
Desktop Subscription or Cloud Service Subscription
a subscription
with single-user access
“network subscription”
with multi-user access
Offerings added to a perpetual license
Formally known as:
Now referred to as:
Maintenance Subscription
a maintenance plan
Autodesk offers the following options, allowing you to choose which best fits your needs:
Single-user Access
(formerly Desktop Subscription)
Licenses that are assigned
to a single user and cannot be shared
Multi-user Access
(formerly network subscription)
Licenses that can be shared
on a network server
Recommended for Individual Team
Shared License No Yes
1.2 When will these changes take place?
The new subscription terminology will be implemented on February 1, 2016.
1.3 Will these changes affect Autodesk products or my existing subscription?
The terminology changes will not affect your Autodesk products, the way you access your software or your
ability to renew your current subscriptions or maintenance plans. If you subscribe to an Autodesk product or
have a maintenance plan attached to a perpetual license, you will still have access to the latest software
releases, licensing rights, cloud storage, technical support, and more. If you’ve purchased perpetual licenses
with maintenance plans, you can continue to renew your maintenance plan for as long as you like.
1.4 Do these changes affect “network subscription”?
What we’ve previously referred to as “network subscription” will now be referred to as subscribing to products
or services with multi-user access. This will be available beginning February 1 and will allow you to share access
and assign software or services to more than one user or device.
1.5 Where can I go to get more information?
If you have questions about the new terminology, please contact your Autodesk Authorized Reseller or your
Autodesk sales representative.
