Revit® Families are independent ﬁles,

created to represent manufactured products,

that can be placed in a BIM project.

Types are deﬁned based on a

list of options, called parameters,

within each Family.

A good way to estimate how many of your products can be combined into a single Family is to take a look at your product cut sheets.

If more than one product is listed on the same cut sheet, those grouped products can usually be created as a single Family, with multiple Types.
