Phone: 1-800-848-4468     Fax: (858) 552-0172These instructions are intended to supplement the operating instructions for your HME Drive-ThruAudio System as follows.•All references to the “COM2000” should be changedto “COM2000BP.”•The section of the manual referring to “OPERATINGTHE SYSTEM” should be supplemented with thefollowing information.  This information updatesinstructions for operation of the Communicator.I. COM2000BP FREQUENCY AND TONE SWITCH SETTINGSYou may need to make adjustments to aCommunicator to match its operating fre-quency and tone settings to those of yourHME wireless communication system,especially if you add a new Communicatorto an existing system.  To do this, open thebattery compartment of the new Communi-cator and of a working Communicator andremove their batteries.  Compare the DIPswitch settings the two Communicators.If they are different, change the switchsettings of the new unit to match thesettings of the working unit, using astraightened paper clip.  DO NOT use apencil or any object that can break off andfall into the Communicator.  Be certain theswitches are adjusted fully to the ON orOFF position. COM2000BP COMMUNICATOR©For a new Communicator to be used with an existing Drive-Thru Audio System, followthe instructions in section I. below, and refer to Figure 2.
II. COM2000BP OPERATING MODESThe COM2000BP has two possible operating modes:1. Operation with the latching feature enabled provides hands-free operating capabil-ity.  Operation of the COM2000BP in this mode is described in section II of thissupplement.NOTE:  Your Communicator was factory preset with the latching feature disabled.2. Operation with the latching feature disabled requires pressing and holding button“A” while speaking and listening to the customer.  In this mode, operation of theCOM2000BP is the same as operation of the COM2000 COMMUNICATOR®,as described in your HME Drive-Thru Audio System operating instructions.III. COM2000BP OPERATIONA. Operation with the Latching Feature DisabledOperate the COM2000BP as instructed in your HME Drive-Thru Audio Systemoperating instructions for the COM2000.B. Operation with the Latching Feature Enabled•Turn the OFF/VOLUME control all the way clockwise and about half way back,to turn the unit on and adjust it to approximately mid-volume level.  The ON/POWER light should be on.•To communicate with a drive-thru customer, press and release the “A” button.This will latch the Communicator in the transmit mode for hands-free operation.The ON/POWER light should be blinking.  With the Communicator “latched,”you can have two-way conversation with the customer without touching theCommunicator.NOTE:  If a Communicator is latched (“A” button is pushed) when no vehicle isin the drive-thru area, you will be able to hear inbound sound in your headsetfrom the drive-thru area outside.  This will let you know that a Communicator islatched.  If a vehicle enters the drive-thru area while the Communicator islatched, the Communicator will be muted during the vehicle-present tone, thenthe inbound sound will return.  The Communicator will remain latched forcommunication with the customer.•The Communicator will be “unlatched,” ending the conversation with the customer,in any of the following ways.1 -    pressing the “A” button again2 -    pressing the “B” button3 -    customer’s vehicle leaves the drive-thru area4 -    pressing the Vehicle Detector Reset switch on the base station5 -    turning the Communicator off
