INTRODUCTIONThe Ambit PCI Full Rate ADSL Modem is an internal ADSL modem, which conveniently plugsinto a PC system, eliminating the need for an external modem. The Ambit PCI ADSL Modemconnects to a telephone line via a standard RJ-11 connector and fully complies with practicesgoverning the PC world (e.g. Plug 'n Play). INSTALLING THE ADSL NETWORK MODEM BOARDTo install the Ambit PCI Full Rate ADSL Modem in your PC and connect it to ADSLnetwork, follow these steps:Insert ADSL Network Interface Card – Step 11) Open the shipping container and inspect each item for damage.2) Remove all jewelry from your hands and wrists.  Use only insulated ornonconductive tools.3) Unplug the PC and disconnect all cables.4) Remove the PC cover.5) Choose an empty bus mastering PCI slot.6) Unscrew the screw holding the PCI slot’s backplate and remove it.7) Insert the Ambit PCI ADSL Modem into an empty PCI slot.8) Secure the NIC with the screw you removed earlier.9) Replace the PC cover and reconnect all previously connected cables.10) Turn on the power to the PC.11) Proceed to the next section, “Connecting to the ADSL Network.”Connect NIC to ADSL Network – Step 2Connect the telephone cable to the RJ-11 port on the Ambit PCI ADSL Modem.

INSTALLING THE AMBIT PCI DEVICE DRIVERS AND UTILITYPlease have the following information available in order to complete the installation and setup ofthe Ambit PCI ADSL Modem.1. TCP/IP properties, this includes the PVC values (VPI and VCI), IP address, the gateway, andthe domain name server.  You will need this information to complete the configuration of thenetwork modem card.  Please contact your MIS manager for more information regarding theTCP/IP settings.2. Windows 95, 98 or NT4.0 diskettes or Installation CD.3.1  Windows 98* BEFORE YOU START: You need the Windows 98 system installation files (CAB files)to complete the installation (Which comes with your PC system).This section describes how to install the network driver when your PC is running Windows 98.There are two major revisions of Windows 98:1) Windows 98 original   (or it may be referred to as the 1st Edition)2) Windows 98 2nd EditionPlease make sure your OS is either Windows 98 1st Edition or Windows 98 2nd Edition.  Windows98 2nd Edition can support advanced features which Windows 98 1st Edition can not.  If you arerunning Windows 98 2nd Edition, installing the Windows drivers to your system is highlyrecommended.  If you are not sure of the operating system version currently used, please contactyour original PC manufacturer for information.  Make sure the Ambit PCI ADSL Network Modemis installed.  Turn your PC on.Windows will find the Ambit ADSL Network Modem and will search for a device driver for the card.Click Next.

When prompted, select "Search for the bestdriver for your device. (Recommended)".  Click "Next".If your Ambit PCI ADSL Modem comes with floppy diskettes, then insert the Windows 98 driverdiskette (use the Windows 98 2nd edition diskette for installing on Windows 98 2nd edition and theWindows 98 diskette for installing on Windows 98 1st edition) into the floppy disk drive.  Select the"Floppy disk drives" option from the menu and click "Next.”If your Ambit PCI ADSL Modem comes with a CD, then insert the CD into the CD-ROM, select"Specify a location", enter the correct path (i.e. d:\win98-v1 for Windows 98 1st edition; d:\win98-v2 for Windows 98 2nd edition).   Select "Next.”

Click "Next" to continue.Windows will start to copy the drivers.  Make sure that the Windows 98 CD is in the CD-ROM orthat it is easily accessible.

If necessary,these values can be changed at this time.  The range for both VPI and VCI is from 0 to 255.Windows has finished installing all the Ambit ADSL Modem drivers.  Click "Finish" to complete theinstallation.Click "Yes" when prompted "Do you want to restart your computer now?"  If you are using floppydiskettes, remove the floppy diskette from the diskette drive.  Continue on to 3.4

If you are notsure of the operating system version, please contact your original PC manufacturer forinformation.Make sure you have already installed the Ambit PCI ADSL Modem into your PC.Power on the PC.  Windows 95 automatically detects the NIC in the PC.  The Add HardwareWizard window will appear.  When prompted, select “Search for the best driver for your device.”If your Ambit PCI ADSL Modem comes with diskettes, insert the Windows 95 driver diskette in thefloppy disk driver and select "Floppy Disk Drives".  Click "Next.”If your Ambit PCI ADSL Modem comes with a CD, insert the Ambit PCI CD into your CD-ROMand select “Specify a location.”  Enter the correct path (i.e. “d:\win95”) and click “Next.”Follow the screen instructions until the “ITeX RFC 1483 for Ethernet Transport Properties”window appears.

Click “Yes” torestart your computer.  Restart Your System.  If you are using floppy diskettes, then remove thedisk from the diskette drive.  Continue on with section 3.43.3  Windows NT4.0 with Service Pack 3From the Start menu, select Settings and then select Control Panel.  Double-click on the Networkicon.In the Network dialog window, select Adapters.  Click "Add".In the Select Network Adapter dialog window, Click "Have Disk".If the Ambit PCI ADSL Network Modem comes with diskettes, insert the Windows NT4.0 driverdiskette into the floppy disk drive.  If the Ambit PCI ADSL Network Modem comes with a CD,insert the Ambit PCI CD into your CD-ROM drive.Click Ok.Select OEM Option windowYou don’t have to restart your computer when under Windows NT4.0.3.4  INSTALLING THE AMBIT PCI MODEM ICON UTILITYNote: The Ambit PCI modem icon utility is provided as a tool to monitor and test the Ambit PCIADSL modem.  Please refer to the User's Guide for more advanced information regarding thistest application.Windows will ask if you want to install the ITeX utility software, click "Yes" to continue.  To installthe software into the default folder, click “Next”.  Otherwise, click "Browse" to select a differentfolder.  Click “Next” again to complete the installation.  Select “No” when prompted if you want torestart your computer.  Click “OK.”

Click "Properties.”  The TCP/IP Properties windowwill appear.To setup the IP Address, select the IP Address tab and then select the "Specify an IP address"option.  Enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask settings.

Click "OK" to close the Systems window.To uninstall the test application:• From the Start menu, select "Programs,” select "ITeX ADSL,” select "Uninstall ADSL,” thenclick on the "Uninstall Test Application.”
