Preparing for installation
Before installation, an HP support team member will send you a site preparation questionnaire to
gather information necessary for installation. You will need to e-mail or fax the completed
questionnaire to HP support before the HP Customer Engineer can install your system. HP
support will supply the correct e-mail address or fax number.

Site facilities requirements
This section outlines the environmental, space, and power requirements for HP Indigo Labels and
Packaging Server systems. Meeting these requirements ensures optimum performance with
minimum maintenance of HP Indigo Production Manager equipment.
For the safe and reliable operation of the equipment, locate the system in a well ventilated,
climate-controlled environment.
Temperature
The recommended ambient temperature range where the equipment is located should be
between 5 degrees to 35 degrees C (41 degrees to 95 degrees F).
NOTE: Decrease the maximum operating temperature by 1 degree C (1.8 degree F) for
each 300-meter (1,000 ft) increase in altitude, up to 3,000 meters (10,000 ft).
Humidity
The recommended humidity range where the equipment is located should be between 5% and
95% RH (non-condensing). For storage conditions, the humidity should be between 5% and 95%
RH.
Space
The server hardware draws in cool air through the front and exhausts warm air through the back.
Leave at least a 7.6 cm (3-inch) clearance space at the front and back of the server hardware to
allow for adequate ventilation. Do not block the ventilation apertures.
Workspace from the computer to the keyboard - 2'x2' if no color management.
If have Spectrophotometer a LEVEL table must be provided. (2'x4' work space)
BTU emission
The server hardware emits 3,420 BTU/hour.

Wiring and grounding requirements
In North America, National Electrical Regulations governing the installation of building wiring
require that cable meeting fire-safety standards be used any time cabling is routed in any of the
following ways:
Through an overhead drop-ceiling
Under a computer room's raised flooring
From room to room
From floor to floor
Ensure that the cable jacket, or sleeve, is made of material that does not burn easily and does not
emit toxic fumes when exposed to heat.
In the United States, the server hardware must be installed in accordance with NFPA 70-1999
(National Electric Code), Article 250. The installation must also comply with any local building
codes.
In Canada, the equipment must be installed in accordance with Canadian Standards Association,
CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code.
10 Planning for HP Indigo Labels and Packaging Server powered by EskoArtwork
In all other countries/regions, the installation must follow any local or national electrical wiring
codes, such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 364, parts 1 through 7.
Grounding
For proper operation and safety, the server equipment must be properly grounded. All power
distribution devices, branch wiring, and receptacles used with the server hardware must be listed
as grounding-type devices. When using power strips for electrical distribution, make sure that
each connection is grounded properly. Plug components into reliably grounded outlets.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, do not
disable the power cord grounding feature. This equipment is designed to be connected to
a grounded power outlet that is easily accessible and located as close as possible to the
equipment. The grounding plug is an important safety feature.
Grounding and earth leakage current
Because of the high ground-leakage currents associated with multiple servers connected to the
same power source, a reliable grounded connection is essential before applying power to server
hardware. Use a power distribution unit (PDU) that is either permanently wired to your building's
branch circuit or is provided with a nondetachable cord that is wired to an industrial style plug.
NEMA locking-style plugs or those complying with IEC 60309 are considered suitable for this
purpose. HP discourages using common power outlet strips for this equipment.
Observe the following limits when connecting the product to AC power distribution devices:
For UPS products and PDUs that have permanently attached AC power cords or are directly
wired to the building power, the total combined leakage current should not exceed 5 percent
of the total rated input current.
For UPS products and PDUs that have detachable AC power cords, the total combined
leakage current should not exceed 3.5 mA per PDU or UPS.
Network and Internet connectivity requirements
Prior to receiving shipment, please ensure that the following HP Indigo Labels and Packaging
Server powered by EskoArtwork network requirements are in place:
Internet connection: HP Indigo HP Indigo Labels and Packaging Server powered by
EskoArtwork requires a broadband Internet connection with a minimum upload and download
speed of 256 kbps (512 kbps or better is recommended.)
Network type: HP recommends using at least a 100Base-T Ethernet network for the server.
Network connections: An RJ-45 network connector is required to attach to the server
hardware. HP recommends that you use a CAT-5e or better copper-based network cable.
Access to the press must available through the network.
IP address: HP Indigo HP Indigo Labels and Packaging Server powered by EskoArtwork
requires the server to have a static IP address or an IP address assigned through DHCP with
a permanent lease.
HP remote configuration and support tool
An integral component of the HP Indigo HP Indigo Labels and Packaging Server powered by
EskoArtwork system is that support is provided remotely by HP support. In order to receive this
support, your server must be able to connect directly to the Internet. An Internet connection
through a PC on the network is not sufficient.
The remote configuration and support tool uses an Internet-based application that allows HP
support to see what is displayed on your computer screen. HP support can share mouse and
keyboard control with you. The remote configuration and support tool requires no permanent

software installation for customers. It can be downloaded quickly from the Internet and is
compatible with most firewalls. Your connection is fully encrypted, so your information is secure.

Installation overview 13
4 Installation overview
This chapter summarizes the process Hewlett-Packard uses for installing an HP Indigo HP Indigo
Labels and Packaging Server powered by EskoArtwork system at your site. Use this information
to prepare the necessary facilities and personnel for the installation.
Before installation
HP uses information you supply about your site to configure your HP Indigo HP Indigo Labels and
Packaging Server powered by EskoArtwork system. HP support will send you an electronic
version of the site preparation questionnaire found in Chapter 5 of this document. Before
installation can proceed, you must complete the questionnaire and send it via e-mail or fax to HP
support.
During installation
Once the HP Indigo Production Manager equipment is delivered, an HP Customer Engineer
completes the installation process. The installation includes the following main tasks:
Confirm that the shipment contains all necessary items.
Move the HP Indigo Labels and Packaging Server powered by EskoArtwork hardware to its
final site.
Unpack and position the hardware.
Turn the system on.
Initialize the operating system, using information from the Site Preparation Questionnaire to
configure site-specific parameters.
Verify that all network connections are successfully established.
HP Indigo support will connect to the customer site to do the installation at the customer site.
