The Portable Work Stand allows you to work with ease on fenders, doors, hoods and other large items. The Operator COMMON SENSE AND CAUTION ARE FACTORS WHICH CANNOT BE BUILT INTO ANY PRODUCT. THESE FACTORS MUST BE SUPPLIED BY THE OPERATOR. PLEASE REMEMBER: Do not use the product if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment/reflexes might be impaired. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in moving parts. Protective gloves and non-skid footwear is recommended. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair. Use eye and ear protection. Always wear: ANSI-approved impact safety goggles. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times. Work Area TO AVOID RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY, EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, FIRE AND SHOCK, MAKE SURE YOUR WORK AREA IS: Free of damp, wet or rainy conditions Free of children (never let them handle tools or machinery) Well-lit, clean and uncluttered #38778 & #38779 Page 2 Before Operating Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Before using your Workbench check for damaged parts. You should also: Make sure all clamps, locks and bolts are tight. Do not use the Work Stand as a ladder. Never stand on the Work Stand. Make certain not to exceed Maximum weight capacity. if there is any question about a condition being safe or unsafe, do not operate the tool. Unpacking UNPACK AND CHECK CONTENTS - PLEASE REFER TO PARTS DIAGRAM ON PAGE 4. When unpacking your Portable Work Bench, check to make sure all parts are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS at 1-800-444-3353. Assembly Important: Read the entire manual to become familiar with the unit BEFORE you use the workbench. Note: Metal edges can be sharp; please use extreme caution during assembly. Step 1) Attach Rubber Covers (part #2) to bottom Leg Tube (part #6). Step 2) Slide Foam (part #1) onto Frame Top Tube (part #7) and Leg Tube (part #6). Step 3) Step 4) If Hex Nuts (part 5) are not attached to the Eye Bolts (part 4) put them on as follows. Attach Hex Nut (part #5) to Eye Bolt (part #4) so that the Eye Bolt is on the inside of the Work Bench (see Parts Diagram on page 5). Repeat the same step for the second set of legs. When complete and the Work Bench is assembled, the Eye Bolts (part #4) will be on opposite sides facing inward. Slide Leg Tube (part #6) into Frame Top Tube (part #7) so that holes are aligned. Slide Leg Tube with Rubber Covers (part #2) into top Leg Tube (part #6). Step 5) Attach Chain with Eye hooks (part #3) to the Eye Bolts (part #4) so that all Eye hooks are facing inward when complete. See diagram on page 5 for illustration. When the Work Bench is assembled, the Chain with Eye hooks and the Eye Bolts will be on opposite sides facing inward. Step 6) Set up both parts of the stand so that Eye Bolts (part #4) and Chain with Eye hooks are on opposite sides facing inside of Work Bench. Attach Chain with Eye Hooks to work Bench. Attach both halves together using Bolts (part #8), Washers (parts #9) and Locknuts (part #10). Insert washers between each leg on each side of the stand, as well as between Nut and stand and Bolt and stand. A washer should be used at all points that metal is in contact with metal.
