IMPORTANT SAFETY AND CARE INFORMATION AND WARNINGS
Thank you for choosing Hestan Cue cookware. To ensure a long life for your cookware
and a pleasant experience, please read this information before you use your cookware.
These instructions are for your general safety, for proper product use and care, and to
prevent personal injury and damage to your cookware or property. Complete and
updated documents are available at hestancue.com/support/guides.
Please read through these documents before using the Hestan Cue Smart
Cooking System.
• Quick Start Guide
• Safety Instructions and Warnings
• Product and System Guide
Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System requires the following: Hestan Cue Smart Induction
Burner, one or more pieces of Hestan Cue cookware (each with matching Smart Capsule)
and the Hestan Cue App. The complete system is required for guided cooking functionality.
General Safety Information
• WARNING: NEVER PLACE ANY PART OF THE HESTAN CUE SMART COOKING SYSTEM
ON OR NEAR HEATED COOKING RANGES, COOKTOPS, OVENS, BROILER/GRILLERS
OR MICROWAVES. This includes the Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner, Smart
Capsule and Hestan Cue cookware, such as the Fry Pan. Extreme damage, including
fire and explosion, may occur.
• WARNING: NEVER PUT HESTAN CUE COOKWARE OR SMART CAPSULES INTO
DISHWASHER. Extreme damage, including explosion, may occur. Do not submerge
the cookware in water. Moisture may affect the Smart Capsule.
• WARNING: ADDING INGREDIENTS TO A HOT PAN CAN RESULT IN HOT SPLATTER,
LOUD NOISES AND POPPING, ESPECIALLY WHEN HOT OIL IS PRESENT. Use extreme
caution when cooking to avoid bodily injury and burns. It is best to remove metal jewelry
when cooking with heat. Hestan Smart Cooking Inc. will not be held liable for any injuries
or damages resulting from the use of the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System. Never stand
closer than 8" [20.3 cm] from the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System. If the contents of
the pan is spilling over, or excessively splattering, calmly unplug the Hestan Cue Smart
Cooking System and wait for contents to cool entirely before cleaning and removing.
• Do not allow liquids to boil over cookware. Do not allow food or liquids to heat directly
on the Hestan Cue cooktop. Do not allow food or liquids to enter the internal parts of
the Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner. Follow cooking instructions carefully, and never
overfill the cooking vessel with foods or liquids, as they may boil over and compromise
the performance and safety of the Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner. If liquids appear
to be boiling over the cookware, unplug the unit immediately, allow to cool before
cleaning or recommencing cooking. If liquid enters the induction burner, unplug the
unit immediately and discontinue use. If liquids enter the internal parts of the Hestan
Cue System, it may cause the system to short circuit and may cause electric shock.
• When using the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System, follow cooking instructions carefully
to avoid adverse effects.
• Unattended Cooking: CAUTION: Never leave cookware unattended while in use. Never
allow your cookware to boil dry, and never leave empty cookware on a hot burner.
Unattended, empty cookware on a hot burner can get extremely hot, which can cause
personal injury and/or property damage. It may also cause permanent damage to the
internal circuitry of the Hestan Cue cookware.
• Remove and discard all packaging materials and labels before use.
• Do not use the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System for any purpose other than its
intended purpose as described in the separate Product and System Guide.
• The cookware does not contain user-serviceable parts. Never attempt to modify, repair or
replace any of its parts.
• This system is intended for adults. Do not allow a child to cook, use or operate any part of
the system without adult supervision
• Hestan Smart Cooking will not be responsible for any damage to persons or property,
such as stovetops, ovens and other cooking appliances, resulting from the misuse
of the system.
• Exclusive use: Hestan Cue cookware must only be used with a compatible Hestan Cue
Smart Induction Burner. Never use Hestan Cue cookware with any other model or make
of stove, oven, third-party induction burner or other type of cooking appliance.
• Safety: Keep small children away from the Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner while you
are cooking. Never allow a child to sit near or under the burner while cooking. Be careful
around the burner when it is turned on, as heat, steam, hot foods/liquids and splatters
can cause burns.
• Pet Warning: Fumes from everyday cooking – particularly smoke from burning foods
– can be harmful to your bird and other small pets. Overheating cooking sprays, oils,
fats, margarine and butter will create dangerous fumes that a bird’s respiratory system
cannot handle. Scorched plastic handles or utensils can also contaminate the air and
endanger birds and other pets. Never allow a pan to overheat, and never cook with birds
or small pets in or near the kitchen.
• Undercooking: Some recipes used by the Hestan Smart Cooking System do not reach
USDA recommended temperatures. Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry,
seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you

have certain medical conditions. If this is a concern of yours, please adhere to the Safe
Minimum Internal Temperature Chart available at usda.gov.
Clad Stainless Steel: If your cookware boils dry and/or if you see molten aluminum or other
metal, do not pick up your pan. Turn the burner off, allow the pan to cool, then remove from
the burner and discard. Do not reuse a pan that has been allowed to boil dry. Clad stainless
steel cookware may also become discolored or warped if allowed to boil dry.
Sliding Pans: Avoid excessively sliding or dragging your cookware directly over the surface
of your Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner cooktop, as scratches may result that may
compromise the effectiveness and safety of the burner. Hestan Smart Cooking is not
responsible for scratched cooktops or cookware.
Utensils: Metal utensils are safe to use with stainless steel pans; however, they will scratch
the stainless steel surface. Scratches due to metal utensils are not covered under warranty.
Sharp-edged tools such as forks and knives should not be used, and knives should never be
used to cut against the cookware surface, inside or outside. Scratches, shavings and similar
markings and deformities due to sharp-edged utensils are not covered under warranty.
Disposal: Do not dispose of any part of the Hestan Cue system in garbage or fire. Comply
with local applicable disposal/recycling laws.
This cookware is not intended for commercial use or restaurant use.
PROHIBITED USES:
• Microwaves: Never use Hestan Cue cookware or Smart Capsule in the microwave.
• Ovens: Hestan Cue cookware and Smart Capsules are not oven safe to any temperature.
Extreme damage, including explosion, may occur.
• Broiler/Griller: Never place Hestan Cue cookware or Smart Capsules under the broiler.
Extreme damage, including explosion, may occur.
Smart Capsule Information
and Warnings
• Use designated Smart Capsule only within specific Hestan Cue cookware for which it is
intended. For example, use only the specific 11" Stainless Steel Fry Pan capsule inside the 11"
Stainless Steel Fry Pan cookware.
• Follow installation instructions for proper and safe usage. Installation instructions are
available at hestancue.com/support/guides. Hestan Cue cookware usage described in this
and other literature assumes Smart Capsule is installed and functioning.
• Do not use Hestan Cue cookware that does not have a properly installed Smart Capsule.
Damage may occur.
• Do not allow young children to handle the Smart Capsule or perform the installation,
especially children under age 3. The Smart Capsule is not a toy. It contains small parts
that can become choking hazards.
• The Smart Capsule does not contain user-serviceable parts. Never attempt to modify,
repair or replace any of its parts except to replace the battery.
Smart Capsule Battery
Handling and Usage
• Keep batteries away from children and pets. Batteries may be harmful if swallowed.
Should a battery be swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.
• Battery may explode or leak and cause burn injury if recharged; disposed of in fire;
inserted backward; dismantled; or placed in a heated oven, cooking appliance or in
dishwasher.
• Do not short-circuit the terminals of the battery.
• Do not dispose of battery or Smart Capsule with household waste. Comply with local
applicable disposal/recycling laws.
• Remove battery before a long period of nonuse or before storing for a long period.
• Exhausted battery from Smart Capsule should be removed promptly.
• Only insert battery with correct polarity, and follow installation instructions completely.
Installation instructions are available at hestancue.com/support/guides.
• When installing or replacing the battery, use a new alkaline AAA battery for best results.
The Hestan Cue app will indicate current battery levels.
Cleaning
• WARNING: NEVER WASH HESTAN CUE COOKWARE OR SMART CAPSULES IN
DISHWASHER. Extreme damage, including explosion, may occur. Do not submerge the
cookware or Smart Capsule in water or other liquid. Moisture may affect the Smart Capsule.
• Standard Care (Stainless Steel): Do not remove Smart Capsule from cookware when
cleaning. Before first use and after each use, hand-wash cookware with warm water
mild, nonabrasive dish soap and a non-scratch scrub sponge. If food remains on the
surface after use or cleaning, use the Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner to boil a
mixture of 1 part baking soda, 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water in the pan to dislodge
the food particles, then clean again as stated above.
• Smart Capsule Care: If the Smart Capsule exterior has become dirty or soiled, wipe
clean with a damp cloth.
• Discoloration, Spots and Stains: Discoloration (which may appear as a rainbow hue) can
occur on stainless steel cookware if cooking with high heat or continuous heat. Similarly,
household water containing higher levels of calcium may create a spotted white film
from regular contact with the cookware over time. In either case, remove by boiling
a solution of 1 part baking soda, 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water. If necessary, wait for
solution to completely cool down, then scrub with a non-scratch scrub sponge. Never
use oven cleaners or abrasive cleaners to clean cookware. They will ruin the cookware.
• Storage: To avoid scratches, place cloth or paper pan protectors or paper towels
between pans when storing.
Handles and Knobs
CAUTION:
• Hot Handles and Knobs: Handles and knobs can get very hot under some conditions.
Use caution when touching them, and always have dry potholders available for use.
• Potholders: Potholders that are not completely dry will conduct heat and produce
steam when used on hot surfaces or cookware. Burning and permanent injury may
result. Do not let potholders remain on hot surfaces. Never use or create substitutes for a
potholder, such as a towel, piece of fabric, other material or apparatus.
• Handle Position when Cooking: Hestan Cue cookware should never be used without
a Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner. Cookware should be placed in the center of the
burner. This ensures even cooking, maximum burner efficiency and minimum danger
from cookware tipping. Take care to position pans so that the handle is not over or near
other hot burners or heated surfaces. Take care that the handle does not accidentally
knock cookware off the burner cooktop.
• Loose Handles: Periodically check handles and knobs to be sure they are not loose.
NEVER USE COOKWARE THAT HAS A LOOSE HANDLE.
Lids
Hestan Cue Smart Fry Pan does not come with a lid and is not intended for use with
a lid. If using lids from other cookware, please exercise caution.
• Steam: When removing lids or cooking with steam-vented lids, always position the lid
so that the steam is directed away from you. Always use a potholder when adjusting
lids with steam vents. Rising steam can cause burns.
• Locking/Straining Lids: Do not use locking or straining lids with the Hestan Cue Pan.
• Lid Vacuum: Leaving a lid on a pan after turning down the heat or turning off the
Hestan Cue Smart Induction Burner may create a vacuum that causes the lid to seal to
the pan. If a lid vacuum seal occurs, DO NOT attempt to remove the lid from pan in any
way. If your lid is vacuum-sealed to your pan, return it to the burner on low heat so that
the air inside the pan gently warms and expands and releases the seal. The lid should
lift effortlessly from the pan. To prevent a lid seal from recurring, remove the lid or set it
ajar before turning heat off.
