The Deskstar™ P7K500 hard drive provides an exceptional blend of power efficiency and
performance making it an ideal solution for consumer and enterprise power-friendly PCs.
Leveraging sixth-generation power management technology as well as power-saving innovations
pioneered on Hitachi’s popular 2.5-inch line of notebook PC hard drives, this new breed
of desktop drive delivers best-in-class power management and thermal emissions to help
manufacturers meet energy compliance targets and extend drive life.

The ENERGY STAR 4.0 specifications are recognized around the world as a way of identifying
energy-efficient PCs and other office equipment. PCs that meet the ENERGY STAR 4.0
criteria are expected to become increasingly required by government agencies, corporations
and consumers. Some corporations are choosing to purchase ENERGY STAR PCs as part of
their “green” initiatives. The Deskstar P7K500 hard drive delivers industry-leading low-power
consumption – up to 40 percent operational power savings over previous generation products –
contributing to a reduction in overall system power requirements which helps PC manufacturers
achieve ENERGY STAR ratings. Additionally, less power required by the hard drive means
more power budget available in an ENERGY STAR PC for additional features and functions.

Robust technology and configuration flexibility
Featuring a choice of Parallel ATA or Serial SATA interface options to meet the needs of many
design configurations, the Deskstar P7K500 is also built using the industry’s most reliable
perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) techniques to maximize capacity, performance and
