Huawei EC360 is a wireless network card based on the CDMAZOOO 1x and CDMAZOOO leV-DO Rev. A protocols, which can enable you to communicate from your laptop on CDMA networks at a high speed with all the benefits of CDMA technology. The EC360 provides data transmission at up to 3.1 Mbit/s, and supports receiving diverSIty. Note: This manual briefs the profiles of Huawei EC360 EV—DO data card, including the preparation, installation and uninstallation process. Getting to Know Your Data Card This is a sketch for Huawei EC36O EV-DO data card. The actual product may differ. PCMCIA Interface External Antenna Indicator External Antenna It receives signals. PCMCIA Interface It connects the data card to a laptop. Indicator It indicates the status of the data card. - When the data card is powered on, the indicator is steady on. - When the data card has registered to a CDMA network with no service, the indicator blinks once every 2 seconds. 0 When the data card has registered to an idle CDMA network, the indicator blinks twice every 2 seconds. - When the data card is engaged in a call or a data service, the indicator blinks once every 0.2 second. - When the data card is removed, powered down, or reset, the indicator is off. Preparation To use Huawei EC360 EV-DO data card, the following configurations for the laptop are required. - Equipped with Type II PCMCIA slot and supporting CARDBUS. - CPU: 133 MHz Pentium or above. 500 MHz Pentium or above is recommended. 0 Memory: 32 MB RAM or above. 128 MB or above is recommended. - Free space on the hard disk: ‘IOO MB or above. - Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Window Vista is installed. - Resolution for the laptop screen: 800 x 600 or above. 1024 x 768 is recommended. Installation Guide The procedure for installing the data card program is subject to the operating system installed on your laptop. The followmg section takes Windows XP as an example. Note: Make sure that the management program of the data card has been installed before you insert the data card into your laptop. Installing the Management Program 1. Insert the supplied CD of the data card into the CD-ROM drive of the laptop. 2. The installation program will run automatically. If the program does not respond, run the Setup.exe file in the CD drive path of the laptop. 3. Select a setup language and then click OK. 4. Follow the prompts of the installation wizard. 5. After the program is installed, the shortcut icon for the data card management program is displayed on the desktoe ,. Installing the Hardware Driver 1. Insert the data card into the PCMCIA slot of the laptop. 2. The operating system (05) detects and recognizes new hardware automatically and starts the Installation Shield Wizard. Starting the Management Program Double—click Q on the desktop to start the management program of the data card. Removing the Data Card Follow these steps strictly to remove the data card from your laptop. Otherwise, your system may be damaged, even if it is in the standby mode. Note: Before removrng the Data Card, you need to log out of the management program first, 1. Double-click & in the system tray, and then the Unplug or Eject Hardware prompt is displayed. 2. Select and stop the hardware related to the data card "Standard PCI to USB Open Host Controller". 3, When the OS displays "It is safe to remove the device", remove the data card from the interface. Uninstalling the Management Program To uninstall the management program of the data card, follow any of the three ways: 0 Select Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Program. 0 Insert the supplied CD into the CD-ROM drive of the laptop and run the installation program. Then, select Uninstall. ' Select Start > Programs > Huawei Data Card > Uninstall.
