2 Keys and Functions Press … To …  Make a call.  Answer an incoming call.  View call logs in standby mode.  Power on or power off the phone (by pressing and holding the key for about 3s).  End a call or reject an incoming call.  Return to the standby mode.  Display Menu in standby mode.  Select a highlighted item.  Display Phonebook list in standby mode.  Return to the previous menu.  Display Menu in standby mode.  Confirm a selection.  Scroll through the submenues on a menu screen or the options on an option screen.  Acess the functions assigned to the keys as shortcuts in standby mode.
3 Press … To …  Enter digits, letters, and symbols.  Call the voicemail in standby mode by pressing and holding the 1 key for about 3s.  Speed-dial phone numbers in standby mode by pressing and holding the keys 2–9 for about 3s.  Select a submenu item labeled with the corresponding number. Battery power level. 2 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card and the Battery Ensure that the golden contact area on the SIM card is facing downwards, and the beveled edge is properly aligned with that of the SIM card slot.
5 Removing the SIM Card and the Battery Before removing the SIM card, ensure that your phone is powered off. Installing the microSD Card You can insert a microSD card to expand the memory capacity of your phone. Before removing a microSD card, ensure that your phone is powered off. When installing a microSD card, ensure that the golden contact area on the microSD card is facing downwards, and the beveled edge of the microSD card is properly aligned with that of the card slot.
6 No microSD card is delivered in the product package. If a microSD card is required, you can buy one. Charging the Battery 1. Connect the charger to the charger jack on the phone. 2. Connect the charger to an AC power socket. 3. Wait until the battery is fully charged. During charging, the charging icon is displayed in animation. When the charging icon becomes static, it indicates that the battery is fully charged. 4. Disconnect the charger from the phone. 5. Disconnect the charger from the AC power socket. Using Function Menus 1. In standby mode, press (Menu) or .
7 2. Press to select the desired function menu. 3. Press (OK) or to display the selected menu. 4. Press to select a submenu. 5. Press (OK) or to display the submenu. 6. Press (Back) to return to the previous menu or exit the function menu. To return to the standby screen, press . Phone Lock The phone lock protects your phone from unauthorized use. By default, the phone lock function is disabled. You can change the default phone lock code (1234) into any string of 4–8 digits. Do remember your phone lock code. If you forget it, contact the service center. PIN and PUK The personal identification number (PIN) protects your SIM card from unauthorized use. The PIN unblocking key (PUK) can unlock the blocked PIN. Both the PIN and the PUK are delivered with the SIM card. For details, contact your service provider. If you enter wrong PINs for a specified number of times consecutively, the phone prompts you to enter the PUK.
8 If you enter wrong PUKs for a specified number of times consecutively, the SIM card becomes invalid permanently. In this case, contact your service provider for a new one. Locking the Keypad In standby mode, press for about 3s to lock the keypad. To unlock the keypad, you can press (Unlock) and then in succession. If the Auto keypad lock function is enabled, when the phone is idle for a preset period in standby mode, the keypad is locked automatically. When the keypad is locked, you can press to answer an incoming call. 3 Call Function Making a Call 1. In standby mode, enter the phone number.  To make an international call, enter the international long-distance code, country code or region code, area code, and phone number in sequence.  To call an extension number, enter P or W between the phone number and the extension number. 2. Press to dial the number.
9 3. Press to end the call.  You can also make a call through call logs, contacts, and messages.  During a call, you can press to adjust the volume. Answering a Call When there is an incoming call, you can do as follows:  Press to answer the call.  Press (Options), and then select Answer to answer the call.  Press or (Reject) to reject the call. If the any-key answer function is enabled, you can press any key except and to answer an incoming call. 4 Text Input Changing the Text Input Mode The indicator of the current text input mode is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. You can press or to change the text input mode.
10  Press once to delete the character on the left of the cursor. Press and hold for about 3s to clear all the letters.  Press to enter a space.  Press to enter $.  Press to move the cursor to the next line. Entering a Word To enter a word, press the keys according to the spelling sequence of the word. Entering a Digit  In "123" input mode, you can directly press a number key labeled with the desired digit.  In any text input mode (except "123"), press and then press the key labeled with the desired digit. Entering a Symbol 1. Press to display the symbol list. 2. Press to scroll to the desired symbol. 3. Press to enter the symbol.
11 Press and then press the keys labeled with the commonly used symbols to enter the symbols. 5 Messaging Writing and Sending a Text Message 1. Select Menu > Messages > Text message > Write message. 2. Write the message. 3. Press (Options) and select Done for the following options:  Send only: to enter a phone number or select a recipient from the contact list, and then send the message.  Save and send: to add a recipient, and then send and save the message.  Send to many: to add several recipients at a time, and then send the message.  Send by group: to add all members of a group as recipients, and then send the message. Writing and Sending a Multimedia Message 1. Select Menu > Messages > MMS > Write message.
12 2. Select To, Cc, or Bcc. Add phone numbers or email addresses to be sent, carbon copied, or blind carbon copied to. 3. Select Subject. Edit the subject of the message. 4. Select Edit content. Edit the content of the message. You can add pictures, audio and video clips, attachments, and bookmarks to the multimedia message. 5. Press (Done) for the following options:  Send only: to send the multimedia message.  Save and send: to send and save the multimedia message.  Contact your service provider for the availability of the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and the procedure for subscribing to this service.  Open multimedia messages with caution. Objects in multimedia messages may contain viruses, such as malicious software, that can damage your phone. 6 Email Before sending or receiving emails, you need to create and activate an email account. Creating an Email Account 1. Select Menu > Email > Email accounts.
13 2. Press (Options), and then select New account. 3. Set the related parameters in sequence. After setting an item, press (Options), and then select Next to proceed to set other items. 4. Press (Options), and then select Done to save the email account. Activating an Email Account 1. Select Menu > Email > Email accounts. 2. Select an email account. 3. Press (Options), and then select Activate. Writing and Sending an Email 1. Select Menu > Email > Write email. 2. Select To, Cc, or Bcc to add the email address of a recipient. 3. Select Subject to edit the email subject. 4. Select Attachments to add an attachment. A maximum of three attachments can be added to an email. 5. Set the email priority. 6. Select Content to edit the text content of the email. 7. After editing the email, press (Done). 8. Press (OK) for the following options:  Send : to send the email.
14  Send and save: to send and save the email. 7 Contacts Creating a Contact 1. Select Menu > Phonebook > Add new contact. 2. Select To SIM or To phone for saving the contact. 3. Edit the contact. 4. Press (OK) to save the contact. Searching for a Contact 1. Select Menu > Phonebook > Search contact. 2. Enter the contact name. 3. Press (Options), and then select Search. You can also select Menu > Phonebook > Quick search. Then enter the first letter of the contact name and press to scroll to the desired contact.
15 8 Multimedia Camera Select Menu > Multimedia > Camera to launch the camera. In camera mode, you can do as follows:  Press to view pictures or perform the relevant settings.  Press to adjust brightness.  Press the 1 key to set the picture effect.  Press the 2 key to set the white balance.  Press the 4 key to set the self-timer.  Press the 5 key to set the continue shot.  Press the 6 key to set the scene mode.  Press the 7 key to set the image quality.  Press the 8 key to set the image size.  Press or to take a picture. Video Recorder 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Video recorder. 2. Press to set the relevant parameters. 3. Press to start recording a video clip. During the recording, you can do as follows:
16  Press to zoom in.  Press to zoom out.  Press to adjust the brightness.  Press to pause or continue. 4. Press to stop recording. Video Player 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Video player. 2. Press to scroll to the desired video clip. 3. Press to play the video clip. When the video is being played, you can do as follows:  Press or to adjust the volume.  Press to fast forward or rewind.  Press to pause or continue.  Press to play the video in full screen and press again to exit full screen. 4. Press to stop playing the video clip.
17 Audio Player You can add music files to the My Music folder on the phone or the microSD card. 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Audio player. 2. Select a music file. 3. Press to play the music. When the music is being played, you can do as follows:  Press or to adjust the volume.  Press to play the previous or next music.  Press to pause or continue.  Press to stop playing the music. 4. Press to exit the screen of audio player. Sound Recorder 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Sound Recorder. 2. Press (Options), and then select Record to record an audio clip. During the recording, you can press or to pause or continue. 3. Press (Stop) to stop recording.
18 FM Radio The headset cable functions as an antenna as well. To ensure good reception of radio programs, do not disconnect the headset from the phone or severely bend the headset cable. 1. Connect a compatible headset to the phone. 2. Select Menu > Multimedia > FM radio. 3. On the FM radio screen, you can do as follows:  Press to record the program, and then press (Stop) to stop recording. During the recording, you can press or to pause or continue.  Press or to adjust the volume.  Press to change the channels.  Press to activate or deactivate the search mode.  Press to switch off the FM radio.  Press (Options) to set the speaker, view and set the channel list, adjust the frequency, or select other options.
19 Scheduling FM Program Recording 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Schedule FM record. 2. Press to select a schedule. 3. Perform the corresponding settings. 4. Press (Done) to save the settings. Slide Show 1. Select Menu > Multimedia > Slide show. 2. Select a folder, which contains pictures displayed in a slide show. 3. Perform the corresponding settings. 4. Press (Done) to save the settings. 9 TV TV Select Menu > TV. In TV mode, press to view the list and you can do as follows:  Choose the right TV country or region.  Choose the TV search: the channels will be automatically searched, and saved in the TV channels list.  Press the 1 key to enter the Brightness adjustment mode.
20  Press the 2 key to enter the Contrast adjustment mode.  Press the 3 key to enter the Color adjustment mode.  Press the 4 key to enter the Definition adjustment mode.  Press the 5 key to switch auto / manual mode.  In auto / manual mode, press to go to the previous / next existing channel.  Press to adjust Brightness/ Contrast / Color / Definition.  Press or to adjust the volume. 10 Bluetooth Through Bluetooth, you can synchronize data between a PC and your phone, exchange data with other Bluetooth devices, or use a Bluetooth headset. Synchronizing Data Before synchronizing data between a PC and your phone, ensure that the PC supports the Bluetooth function. 1. Select Menu > Bluetooth > Power. Then select On to enable the Bluetooth function. 2. Start the Bluetooth driver on the PC. 3. Pair the PC with the phone. After pairing, you can synchronize data between the PC and the phone.
21 Using a Bluetooth Headset No Bluetooth headset is delivered in the product package. If a Bluetooth headset is required, you can buy one. 1. Select Menu > Bluetooth > Power. Then select On to enable the Bluetooth function. 2. Select Inquiry audio device to search for the Bluetooth headset. 3. After searching, press (Connect). 4. Enter the password for pairing the Bluetooth headset. After the phone sets up a connection with the headset, the headset icon is displayed on the standby screen and you can use the headset. Transferring Data 1. Select Menu > Bluetooth > Power. Then select On to enable the Bluetooth function. 2. Select My device > Inquiry new device to search for available Bluetooth devices and then pair the phone with the desired device. When a Bluetooth device sets up a connection with the phone for the first time, a pairing password needs to be entered for authentication. 3. After pairing, you can transfer data between the phone and the Bluetooth device. 11 Fun & Game
22 MSN To access the MSN sites through your phone, you need to input the MSN user name and the password on your phone. Start the MSN 1. Select Menu > Fun & Games > MSN > Start. 2. Press to select the username, mailbox and the password to input. 3. Press to enter the contents 4. Press (Sign in) to login in MSN. Nimbuzz Start the Nimbuzz 1. Select Menu > Fun & Games > Java > Nimbuzz. 2. Press to select the username, mailbox and the password to input. 3. Press to enter the contents 4. Press to login in. 12 WAP
23 You can access WAP sites and use WAP-based services on your phone. Before accessing the WAP sites through your phone, you need to subscribe to the corresponding service from the service provider and set the relevant parameters on your phone. For details about the WAP-based services and the charges, contact your service provider. Network Settings To access the WAP sites through your phone, you need to set the data account and WAP parameters on your phone. Setting the Connection Profile 1. Select Menu > Services > Data account. 2. Select the network type, and then press (OK). 3. Select the service provider, and then press (Edit). 4. Set the account information. 5. Press (Done) to save the settings. Setting the WAP 1. Select Menu > Services > WAP > Settings > Edit account > Add new. 2. Select the service provider, and then press (OK). 3. Select Edit account, and then press (OK).
24 4. Set the account information. 5. Press (Done) to save the settings. 6. Activate the account. Connecting to the Network 1. Select Menu > Services > WAP > Input address. 2. Enter a URL address. 3. Press (Options), and then select Done to access the address. 13 Warnings and Precautions This section contains important information pertaining to the operating instructions of your device. It also contains information about how to use the device safely. Read this information carefully before using your device. Electronic Device Power off your device if using the device is prohibited. Do not use the device when it causes danger or interference with electronic devices. Medical Device  Power off your device and follow the rules and regulations set forth by the hospitals and health care facilities.  Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum distance of 15 cm be maintained between a device and a pacemaker to prevent potential
25 interference with the pacemaker. If you are using a pacemaker, use the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker and do not carry the device in your front pocket.  Some wireless devices may affect the performance of the hearing aids. For any such problems, consult your service provider. Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Power off your device in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, and comply with all signs and instructions. Areas that may have potentially explosive atmospheres include the areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Triggering of sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire, resulting in bodily injuries or even deaths. Do not switch on the device at refueling points such as service stations. Comply with restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, storage, and distribution areas, and chemical plants. Also, adhere to restrictions in areas where blasting operations are in progress. Before using the device, watch out for areas that have potentially explosive atmosphere that are often, but not always, clearly marked. Such locations include areas below the deck on boats, chemical transfer or storage facilities and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust, or metal powders. Ask the manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) if this device can be safely used in their vicinity.
26 Traffic Security Observe local laws and regulations while using the device. Also, if using the device while driving a vehicle, please comply with the following guidelines:  Concentrate on driving. Your first responsibility is to drive safely.  Do not talk on the device while driving. Use hands-free accessories.  When you have to make or answer a call, park the vehicle at the road side before using your device.  RF signals may affect electronic systems of motor vehicles. For more information, consult the vehicle manufacturer.  In a motor vehicle, do not place the device over the air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Otherwise, the device may hurt you owing to the strong force when the air bag inflates.  Do not use your device while flying in an aircraft. Switch off your device before boarding an aircraft. Using wireless devices in an aircraft may be dangerous to the operation of the aircraft, disrupt the wireless telephone network, and may be considered illegal. Operating Environment  Do not use or charge the device in dusty, damp or dirty places or places with magnetic fields. Otherwise, the circuit may not function properly.  The device complies with the RF specifications when the device is used near your ear or at a distance of 1.5 cm from your body. Ensure that the device
27 accessories such as a device case and a device holster are not composed of metal components. Keep your device 1.5 cm away from your body to meet the requirement earlier mentioned.  On a thunder and stormy day, do not use your device when it is being charged, to prevent any danger caused by lightning.  When you are on a call, do not touch the antenna. Touching the antenna affects the call quality and results in increase in power consumption. As a result, the talk time and standby time are reduced.  While using the device, observe the local laws and regulations, and respect others' privacy and legal rights.  Keep the ambient temperature between 0℃ and 45℃ while the device is being charged. Keep the ambient temperature between -10℃ to 55℃ for using the device powered by battery. Preventing Hearing Damage Listening to a headset at high volumes can damage your hearing. Use only the minimum volume setting necessary to hear your conversation or music. Safety of Children Please comply with all precautions with regard to children's safety. Letting the child play with your device or its accessories, which may include parts that can be detached from the device, may prove dangerous, as it may present a choking hazard. Make sure that small children are kept away from the device and accessories.
28 Accessories Use only the accessories delivered by manufacturer. Using accessories of other manufacturers or vendors with this device model might invalidate any approval or warranty applicable to the device, might result in the non-operation of the device, and might be dangerous. Battery and Charger  Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not in use.  The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times before it eventually wears out. When the standby time and talk time are shorter than normal, replace the battery.  Use the AC power supply defined in the specifications of the charger. An improper power voltage may cause fire or the charger may not function properly.  Do not connect two poles of the battery with conductors such as metal materials, keys or jewelries. Otherwise, the battery may be short-circuiting and may cause injuries and burns on your body.  Do not disassemble the battery or solder the battery poles. Otherwise, it may lead to electrolyte leakage, overheating, fire, or explosion.  If battery electrolyte leaks out, make sure that the electrolyte does not touch your skin and eyes. When the electrolyte touches your skin or splashes into your eyes, wash your eyes with clean water immediately and consult a doctor.  If the battery is damaged, or the color changes or gets abnormally heated while you charge or store the
29 battery, remove the battery immediately and stop using it. Otherwise, it may lead to battery leakage, overheating, explosion, or fire.  If the power cable is damaged (for example, the lead is exposed or broken), or the plug loosens, stop using the cable at once. Otherwise, it may lead to electric shock, short-circuit of the charger, or a fire.  Do not dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged. Clearing and Maintenance  The device, battery, and charger are not water-resistant Keep them dry. Protect the device, battery and charger from water or vapor. Do not touch the device and charger with a wet hand. Otherwise, it may lead to short-circuit or malfunction of the device and electric shock to the user.  Do not place your device, battery, or charger in places where it can get damaged because of collision. Otherwise, it may lead to battery leakage, device malfunction, overheating, fire, or explosion. When the temperature is lower than 0℃, performance of the battery is affected.  Do not place magnetic storage media such as magnetic cards and floppy disks near the device. Radiation from the device may erase the information stored on them.  Do not leave your device, battery, or charger in a very hot or cold place. Otherwise, they may not function properly and may lead to a fire or an explosion.
30  Do not place sharp metal objects such as pins near the earpiece. The earpiece may attract these objects and hurt you when you are using the device.  Before you clean or maintain the device, power off the device and disconnect it from the charger.  Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as alcohol and benzene) to clean the device and the charger. Otherwise, parts of the device may get damaged or a fire can be caused. You can clean the device and the charger with a piece of damp and soft antistatic cloth.  Do not dismantle the device or accessories. Otherwise, manufacturer is not liable to pay for damages as the device and accessories are not covered by warranty. Emergency Call You can use your device for emergency calls in the service area. The connection, however, cannot be guaranteed in all conditions. You should not rely solely on the device for essential communications. Certification Information (SAR) This mobile device meets guidelines for exposure to radio waves. Your device is a low-power radio transmitter and receiver. As recommended by international guidelines, the mobile device is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves. These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organization ICNIRP and include safety measures designed to ensure safety for all users, regardless of age and health.
31 Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit of measurement for the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the body when using a device. The SAR value is determined at the highest certified power level in laboratory conditions, but the actual SAR level of the device when being operated can be well below the value. This is because the device is designed to use the minimum power required to reach the network. The SAR limit adopted by USA and Canada is 1.6 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value reported to the FCC and IC for this device type when tested for use at the ear is 0.475 W/kg, and when properly worn on the body is 1.47 W/kg. For body worn operation, this phone has been tested and meets the FCC RF exposure guidelines for use with an accessory that contains no metal and the positions the handset a minimum of 1.5 cm from the body. Use of other accessories may not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines. If you do no t use a body-worn accessory and are not holding the phone at the ear, position the handset a minimum of 1.5 cm from your body when the phone is switched on.
32 FCC Statement This device has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.
