Please visit http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/hotline/ for the most up-to-date contact information for your country or region. 1 Highlights Voice wakeup If you can't find your phone when you know it's somewhere nearby, or your hands are tied when you need to call somebody, use speech control to find your phone and place calls. This feature may not be available on all phones. Waking up your phone and making a call 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under All, touch Speech awareness. 3 Touch the Speech awareness switch to enable voice wakeup. 4 Follow the onscreen instructions to set up a wakeup keyword. 5 Say the keyword to wake up your phone and use voice dialing. Settings. The captured video will be played back at an accelerated Camera. pace. 3 Highlights Director mode Director mode lets you play the role of a movie director and partner with friends to create a professional film. You can connect up to four phones for different shooting angles and activate the camera on each as necessary. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and Director Mode is available on each phone. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 On your phone, touch Record > Create group and follow the onscreen instructions to Director Mode. set up a group. Touchplus Use the Huawei Touchplus screen protector to enhance your phone's functionality and accessibility. The navigation keys on the protective film replace the system's own virtual keys and add more touch control areas to your screen. This feature works only on phones that support Touchplus. The Touchplus fitted screen protector is available for purchase on vmall.com. After attaching the screen protector, double-tap or touch and hold any of the five touch zones located in the upper left and right corners or bottom of the screen to launch the Touchplus setup guide. For details, see Connecting in USB flash drive mode. 10 Getting started Importing contacts from your old phone You can import contacts from your old phone in any of the following ways: Copy your contacts on your SIM card to your new SIM card phone. For details, see Importing contacts from a SIM card. If your old phone has a microSD card slot, export the contacts in your old phone to a microSD card as a vCard Storage device file, and then import the contacts to your new phone. For details, see Importing contacts from a storage device. Enable Bluetooth on both your old and new phones, Bluetooth and import your contacts using Bluetooth. For details, see Importing contacts from a Bluetooth device. If your old phone supports Backup, back up your Backup contacts, and restore them to your new phone. For details, see Backup. Synchronize your contacts from your old phone to a Computer computer, and use HiSuite to synchronize them to your new phone. • Install social network applications and synchronize Other accounts contacts from your social network accounts. • Log in to your Exchange account and synchronize your contacts. 11 Getting started Touchscreen gestures Touch: Tap an item once. For example, you can rearrange applications and widgets on the home screen this way. 12 Getting started Pinch two fingers out: Spread two fingers apart on the screen. For example, pinch two fingers out to zoom in on a picture or web page. Pinch two fingers together: Pinch two fingers together on the screen. Pinch three fingers together: On the home screen, pinch three fingers together to display screen thumbnails. 13 Getting started Motion control Motion control lets you control your phone using simple motions and gestures. Automatic screen rotation If you rotate your phone when browsing a web page or viewing a photo, the screen orientation changes automatically between landscape and portrait mode. This feature allows you to enjoy tilt-controlled applications, such as racing games. 1 Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel. 2 Under Shortcuts, touch Auto-rotate to enable or disable screen rotation. Organizing applications and widgets on the home screen The following operations allow you to organize your applications, widgets, or folders: • Adding a widget: On the home screen, pinch two fingers together to enter home screen editing mode. Touch Widgets and select a widget. The widget will be added to a blank area on the home screen. You must have enough space on the home screen to add the widget. If there is not enough space, add another home screen or free up some space on the current screen. • Moving an application or widget: On the home screen, touch and hold an application icon or widget until your phone vibrates. You can then drag the application icon or widget to the desired location. 18 Getting started • Deleting an application or widget: On the home screen, touch and hold the application icon or widget you want to delete until unwanted application icon or widget to • is displayed. Once the drivers are installed, double-click the new drive icon that appears on your computer to view the files stored on your phone. You can browse multimedia content on your phone easily using Windows Media Player. 62 Network and sharing Connecting in USB flash drive mode If you have a microSD card in your phone, you can use your phone as a USB flash drive and transfer files between the microSD card and a computer. 1 Use a USB cable to connect your phone to the computer. 2 Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Optimizing the system Scan for problems and optimize the system to keep your phone running smoothly. On the home screen, touch • Phone Manager. Then you can: Touch Scan or Touch to scan. When idle for a specified period, the screen locks automatically to save battery power. • Touch Auto-rotate screen to set whether your screen auto-rotates. If this function is turned on, your screen's orientation will change automatically with the way you hold your phone when you perform certain actions, such as browsing a web page, viewing a picture, or writing a message. The preceding display options may not be available on all phones. 76 Phone settings Enabling one-hand UI One-hand UI makes using a phone with a large screen much easier. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under All, touch One-hand UI. 3 On the One-hand UI screen, you can: • Settings. Go to the One-hand layout screen and enable One-hand layout. Swipe left or right on the virtual navigation bar to reposition the screen to either side. • Go to the Shifting keyboard screen and enable Shifting keyboard. When using the shifting keyboard, touch the arrow on either side of the screen to move the dialer, in-call menu, and more to the side within reach. One-hand UI may not be available on all phones. Touch-disable mode You can use this feature to prevent unintended operations on the screen when your phone is in your pocket or bag. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under Smart assistance, touch More. 3 Enable Touch-disable mode. When this feature is enabled, the touchscreen will be disabled when the top of the screen is covered. The touchscreen will function normally as soon as the top of the screen is no longer being covered. Settings and then go to the All tab. The touch-disable mode may not be available on all phones. Turning on gloves mode Gloves mode lets you perform touchscreen operations even when you're wearing gloves. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under Smart assistance, touch More. 3 Touch the Gloves mode switch to turn on gloves mode. Turning airplane mode on or off • Wireless devices may interfere with an airplane's flight system. Always defer to the instructions of the crew regarding the use of electronic devices on an aircraft. • Airplane mode disables your phone's wireless features, but you can still use your phone to listen to music or play games. Use one of the following methods to turn Airplane mode on or off: • Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Under Shortcuts, touch the Airplane mode switch. • Press and hold the power button, and then touch Airplane mode. • On the home screen, touch Settings and then go to the All tab. Under Wireless & networks, touch More and then the Airplane mode switch. When airplane mode is on, is displayed in the status bar. 79 Phone settings Setting your SIM card PIN A personal identification number (PIN) is delivered with your SIM card to protect your phone data. If you enable SIM card lock, you must enter the PIN each time you turn on your phone. Before you perform the following operations, make sure you have obtained your SIM card PIN from your carrier. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under All, touch Security. 3 Touch Set up SIM card lock. If your phone has dual SIM support, touch Set Card 1/Card 2 lock. 4 Touch Lock SIM card. If your phone has dual SIM support, you can set individual PINs for each SIM. 5 Enter your PIN, and then touch OK. 6 Touch Change SIM PIN to change the PIN. Settings. There is usually a limit to the number of unsuccessful PIN code attempts. If this limit is reached, you must enter a Personal Unblocking Key (PUK), which can be obtained from your carrier. There is also a limit to the number of unsuccessful PUK code attempts. If this limit is reached, your SIM card will be permanently disabled. For details about these limits, contact your carrier. Setting up an account Adding an account 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Under All, touch Accounts. 3 Touch Add account. 4 Select an account type. 5 Follow the onscreen instructions and enter your account information. Restoring factory settings Restoring your phone to the factory settings will erase all personal data from your phone storage, including account information, system and application settings, and downloaded applications. Enable privacy protection and set two different screen unlock passwords, one for yourself and one for guests. Settings. After privacy protection is enabled, entering the owner password allows access to all the content on your phone. Entering the guest password allows access to unprotected content. Settings. 85 Safety information This section contains important information about the operation of your device. It also contains information about how to use the device safely. Read this information carefully before using your device. Electronic device Do not use your device if using the device is prohibited. Do not use the device if doing so causes danger or interference with other electronic devices. Interference with medical equipment • Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care facilities. Do not use your device where prohibited. • Some wireless devices may affect the performance of hearing aids or pacemakers. Consult your service provider for more information. • Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum distance of 15 cm be maintained between a device and a pacemaker to prevent potential interference with the pacemaker. Charger safety • For pluggable devices, the socket-outlet shall be installed near the devices and shall be easily accessible. • Unplug the charger from electrical outlets and the device when not in use. • Do not drop or cause an impact to the charger. • If the power cable is damaged (for example, the cord is exposed or broken), or the plug loosens, stop using it at once. Continued use may lead to electric shocks, short circuits, or fire. • Do not touch the power cord with wet hands or pull the power cord to disconnect the charger. 88 Safety information • Do not touch the device or the charger with wet hands. Doing so may lead to short circuits, malfunctions, or electric shocks. • If your charger has been exposed to water, other liquids, or excessive moisture, take it to an authorized service center for inspection. • Ensure that the charger meets the requirements of Clause 2.5 in IEC60950-1/EN609501/UL60950-1 and has been tested and approved according to national or local standards. • Connect the device only to products with the USB-IF logo or with USB-IF compliance program completion. Battery safety • Do not connect battery poles with conductors, such as keys, jewelry, or other metal materials. Doing so may short-circuit the battery and cause injuries or burns. • Keep the battery away from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Do not place it on or in heating devices, such as microwave ovens, stoves, or radiators. Batteries may explode if overheated. • Do not attempt to modify or remanufacture the battery, insert foreign objects into it, or immerse or expose it to water or other liquids. Doing so may lead to fire, explosion, or other hazards. • If the battery leaks, ensure that the electrolyte does not make direct contact with your skins or eyes. If the electrolyte touches your skins or splashes into your eyes, immediately flush with clean water and consult a doctor. • In case of battery deformation, color change, or overheating while charging or storing, immediately stop using the device and remove the battery. Continued use may lead to battery leakage, fire, or explosion. • Do not put batteries in fire as they may explode. Damaged batteries may also explode. • Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Improper battery use may lead to fire, explosion, or other hazards. • Do not allow children or pets to bite or suck the battery. Doing so may result in damage or explosion. • Do not smash or pierce the battery, or expose it to high external pressure. Doing so may lead to a short circuit or overheating. 89 Safety information • Do not drop the device or battery. If the device or battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, it may be damaged. • If the device standby time shortens significantly, replace the battery. • The device has a built-in, non-removable battery. Do not attempt to remove the battery, otherwise the device may be damaged. To replace the battery, take the device to an authorized service center. Cleaning and maintenance • Keep the device and accessories dry. Do not attempt to dry it with an external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer. • Do not expose your device or accessories to extreme heat or cold. These environments may interfere with proper function and may lead to fire or explosion. • Avoid collision, which may lead to device malfunctions, overheating, fire, or explosion. • Before you clean or maintain the device, stop using it, stop all applications, and disconnect all cables connected to it. • Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as alcohol and benzene) to clean the device or accessories. These substances may cause damage to parts or present a fire hazard. Use a clean, soft, and dry cloth to clean the device and accessories. • Do not place magnetic stripe cards, such as credit cards and phone cards, near the device for extended periods of time. Otherwise the magnetic stripe cards may be damaged. • Do not dismantle or remanufacture the device and its accessories. This voids the warranty and releases the manufacturer from liability for damage. In case of damage, contact an authorized service center for assistance or repair. • If the device screen is broken in a collision, immediately stop using the device. Do not touch or attempt to remove the broken parts. Promptly contact an authorized service center. Emergency calls The availability of emergency calls is subject to your cellular network quality, service provider policy, and local laws and regulations.
