Don’t put the product close to any heating device or under direct sunlight Avoid the product from dropping or excessive shock Never use any chemical or cleanser. It may damage the surface of product. Don’t touch the product with a wet hand. Distributing music files without authorization is against copyright law. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damaged data saved in the product if the product error was caused by user’s carelessness. The data saved in the product may be damaged in the A/S. Listening to sound sources in higher volume may cause auditory disorder. Don’t use earphone set while riding a bicycle or motorcycle, or driving a car. Immediately reset the product when it generates excessive heat or burning small, and then contact our A/S agent for repair. Page 8/9 Safety Precautions Safety matters for AC adaptor Don’t open the case of AC adaptor to avoid electric shock. Please be fully aware of this user’s manual to avoid any unexpected trouble. Warning! Prevent the AC adaptor from contacting water to avoid fire or electric shock. Use enclosed adaptor in the package only to ensure the safety. (Manufacturer is not responsible for any trouble caused by using other adaptors). Note! Use correct outlet socket to connect with the power plug to avoid electric shock. The power plug shall not be exposed outside when it is successfully connected into the socket. Built-in Battery Don’t use damaged built-in battery or AC adaptor. Excessive recharge long than specified hours is not allowed to prevent fire. Fully recharge the battery when trying to use it for the first time or after a long-term disuse. When the using term gets shorter in comparison with recharging term please replace the battery. Since the battery supplied with the product is consumable the using hours of it gradually gets shorter. Any metal parts on DC converter or built-in battery should not be allowed to touch other conductive materials to avoid fire or electric shock. Unlimited Folders & File Navigation System The product plays every MP3 files saved in multi folders. Those files and folders can be selected and played as if in Windows environment. Easy & Convenient Clock System It also provides Clock function for your convenient life Removable Disk By connecting the product to PC, the Windows system identifies it as a removable disk. No extra effort to install additional software in the PC is required. All other file formats can be saved in the product. FM Radio & Recording Enjoy FM radio with this product as well as digital music files (MP3/WMA)! You can also record your favorite FM programs or songs and save them as music files. Auto tuning and frequency storage are also available. Built-in Li-ion Battery No extra battery is required. This advanced battery system can be easily recharged by only connecting into the USB port in PC. Resume Function in Second Unit Don’t worry about sudden power off. This resume function operating in second unit recovers all previous settings when you turn the power on again. Using USB cable, connect the product into USB port in PC to recharge the battery. 2. LCD screen shows the icon change from (picture) to (picture) when it is fully recharged. Note! It takes approx 3 hours to completely recharge the fully consumed battery. Recharge is still undergoing while downloading/uploading files from/to PC. Recharge the product using USB cable when LCD screen is not activated. LCD screen shows (picture) when any error in recharge process occurs. Try to recharge few times more. If the error is consistent, contact our local A/S agent. Power 1. When initially turn the product on the battery status may vary. It is stabilized 5 to 6 seconds after the power ON. Page 20-21 Connection with PC Note! What’s USB (Universal Serial Bus)? This is a new connection system between PC and peripheral devices. Connect the USB cable supplied with the product into a USB port in PC. Any unexpected error can be happened when connecting to the USB port in front of PC or USB hub. The product can not be identified in the PC with Windows 98SE or lower. Install program CD supplied with the product in the PC. USB cable connection Connect one end of the cable into a USB port on the back of PC and the other end to the earphone jack of this product. Disconnection With Windows ME, 2000 and XP 1. Double click on the green arrow on the right-bottom part of the initial Window screen. 2. Click on Stop and OK after selecting “USB High Capacity Storage Device” Page 22-23 Disconnection 3. Click on OK on “Safety removal of the hardware” message bar and then remove the cable. In case with Windows 98SE Open “My Computer” or “Windows Search” and choose “Removable Disk.” Choose “Remove” using the right button of mouse and then remove the USB cable. Note! Removing the cable without following above instruction will display a warning message and may cause a fatal error in PC or the product. Removing the cable while downloading or uploading files, or formatting the product may cause a fatal error in PC or the product. Basic Operations Power ON/OFF 24 Playing Music 25 Page 24-25 Power ON/OFF Turning ON the power Press (picture) for longer seconds to turn the power on. Note! When the battery is low LCD shows “Low Battery” and is not activated. Recharge the battery when LCD is not activated. Turning OFF the power Press (picture) for longer seconds to turn the power off. Note! When no button manipulation in pause or stop condition is done after the set period for “Auto Power Off,” it automatically turns off the power. In case with no earphone connected after a certain period time, it automatically turns the power off. When you try to play a file after the restarting of the product, it completely recovers all previous setting. All track numbers, equalizer and other settings are recovered. (See page 54) Auto Power OFF Auto Power OFF When the earphone has not been connected for a certain period of time, LCD displays “No earphone connected, power will turn off” and it turns the power off. Note! Bit rate setting You may set bit rate for highest quality (128Kbps), high quality (96Kbps), mid quality (64Kbps) and low quality (48kbps) when recoding FM radio. Using this function may reduce total elapsing time period. FM folder inclusive in playing This function enables you choose whether you prefer to play the files in FM folder or not. Music Set File Play Power Volume FM Folder Play Inclusive Exclusive Exclusive: Files in FM folder are not played. Inclusive: Files in FM folder are played. Note! You can search and play files in FM folder in Navigation Mode even though it is set under Exclusive. The file with no ID3 tag info only displays file names. Scroll Speed This function sets text scrolling speed displayed on LCD between Fast and Normal. Screen Set Language ID3 Tag Scroll Speed Fast: File names are scrolling at higher speed on LCD. Auto Power OFF The function turns off the power automatically when there has been no button manipulation for set period (30 seconds/ 1minute/ 2minutes/ 5minutes/ 10minutes or disabled) in Pause or Stop. Other Set Firmware Time SetAuto Power Brightness Set Sleep Mode This function automatically turns off the power after set period of time (10/ 20/ 30/ 60 minutes or disabled) for your sleep. No: Cancels initialization. This Mass Storage type product can upload or download files without installing extra software. In case of using Windows 98SE: Please install the program CD supplied with the product before upload or download files. (PC may not identify the product) File Download/ Upload Downloading or uploading files Note! This product downloads or uploads all types of data files (*.jpg, *.xls, *.hwp……) functioning as a removable disk as well as a MP3 player. 1. To download files connect USB cable and click on “Copy” using right mouse button following the selection of files in PC. Page 60-61 File Download/ Upload Downloading or uploading files 2. Click on “Paste” in Removable Disk window using right mouse button. Note! PC identifies the product as a removable disk under “My Computer.” Don’t remove USB cable while transferring the files. It may cause fatal error in PC or the product. 3. Downloading selected files to the product is completed. Note! You can upload files from the product to PC by following reverse way. Drag & Drop makes you easy to download or upload files. Page 62-63 Format Note! Removed files can not be recovered after formatting the device! 1. Choose “format” using right mouse button on removable disk folder in PC Windows. 2. Click on Start button when format window pops up. Check if file system is set for FAT32 Be very careful at format! 3. Format completed. Followings may not be troubles, please carefully examine symptoms. 1. Can not turn the Power on? Check the battery capacity. Recharge the battery with USB cable. Check if the product is in HOLD. 2. Button is not functioning? Check if the product is in HOLD. 3. Can not hear sound sources properly with much noise? Check if any foreign material applied on earphone tip and, if yes, remove it. Completely push the earphone tip into the product. Check if the file is damaged. Check the volume. 4. Too much noise with interrupted FM receiving? Check the earphone. It functions as an antenna. Data saved in the product can be inevitably removed for the purpose of repair. Saving important data to PC is customer’s responsibility. We do not backup the files in any product received by our A/S centers.
