2. RGB INPTUT(PC/DTV INPUT) / L/R IN
Connect the set output socket of the PERSONAL COM-
PUTER to this socket.
3. EURO SCART SOCKET
connect the euro scart socket of the VCR to these sock-
ets.
4. S-VIDEO INPUT
connect video out from an S-VIDEO VCR to the S-
VIDEO input.

You can connect additional equipment, such as VCRs, camcorders etc. to your set. Examples are shown below.
1.Connect the RF out socket of the VCR to the aerial
socket of the set.
2.Connect the aerial cable to the RF aerial in socket of
the VCR.
3.Store the VCR channel on a desired programme num-
ber using the ‘Manual programme tuning’ section.
4.Select the programme number where the VCR channel
is stored.
5.Press the PLAY button on the VCR.
- If you connect an S-VIDEO
VCR to the S-VIDEO input,
the picture quality is
improved ; compared to con-
necting a regular VCR to the
Video input.
If a 4:3 picture format is
used;the fixed imgae may
remain visible on the screen.
- To avoid picture noise (inter-
ference), leave an adequate
distance between the VCR
and set.
1.Use the INPUT SELECT button on the remote control
to select AV1 or AV2.
(If connected to S-VIDEO, select the SAV external input
source.)
2. Insert a video tape into the VCR and press the PLAY
button on the VCR.

For cable Box
After subscribing for a local cable TV station and
installing a converter you can watch cable TV.
For further information of cable TV, contact the local TV
station.
In using connection 1
1.Select programme number in programme switch of
cable box.
2.Match the set programme with selected programme of
cable box.
3. Select your desired programme with the remote control
for cable box.
In using connection 2
1.Use the INPUT SELECT button on the remote control
and select AV1 or AV2.
2.Tune to cable service provided channels using the
cable box.
When connecting the set to an external source,match
the colours of AUDIO/VIDEO input jacks on the set with
the output jacks on the audio/video eqipment : Video =
yellow, Audion(Left) = white, Audio (Right) = red.
1.Use the INPUT SELECT button on the remote control
to select AV1 or AV2.
2.Operate the corresponding external equipment.

How to connect
Connect DVD Video or S-Video output to VIDEO or S-VIDEO input and DVD Audio outputs to AUDIO INPUT of the
TV.
How to use
1. Turn on the DVD player, and insert a DVD.
2. Use INPUT SELECT button on the remote control to select AV1 or AV2. Refer to the DVD player's manual for oper-
ating instructions.

1. Connect the signal cable from the monitor output
socket of the PERSONAL COMPUTER to the RGB
INPUT (PC/DTV INPUT) socket of the set.
2. Connect the audio cable from the PC to the L/R IN
sockets of the set.
3. Press the INPUT SELECT button to select PC.
4. Switch on the PC, and the PC screen appears on the
set.

- To watch digitally broadcast programs, pur-
chase and connect a digital set-top box.
How to connect
Use the set’s RGB jack for video connections,
depending on your set-top box connector. Then,
make the corresponding audio connections.
How to use
1. Turn on the digital set-top box. (Refer to the
owner’s manual for the digital set-top box.)
2. Use INPUT SELECT button on the remote con-
trol to select PC.

Up to 100 TV stations can be stored in this set by programme numbers (0 to 99). Once you have preset the stations, you will
be able to use the DD / EE or NUMBER buttons to scan the stations you have programmed. Stations can be tuned using auto-
matic or manual modes.
All stations that can be received are stored by this method. It is recommended that you use auto programme during instal-
lation of this set.

Select the beginning programme number with
the FF / GG button or NUMBER buttons. Any
number under 10 is entered with a numeric Ô0Õ
in front of it, i.e. Ô05Õfor 5.
Press the OK button.

Press the DD / EE button to select Start.
Press the OK button to begin auto program-
ming.
All receivable stations are stored. The station
name is stored for stations which broadcast
VPS (Video Programme Service), PDC
(Programme Delivery Control) or TELETEXT
data. If no station name can be assigned to a
station, the channel number is assigned and
stored as C(V/UHF 01-69) or S(Cable 01-47),
followed by a number.
To stop auto programming, press the MENU
button.
When auto programming is completed, the
Programme edit menu appears on the
screen. See the ‘Programme edit’ section to
edit the stored programme.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return
to normal TV viewing.

Manual programme lets you manually tune and arrange the stations in whatever order you desire.
Also you can assign a station name with five characters to each programme number.

If possible, select the channel number

Press the DD / EE button to select Search.
Press the FF / GG button to commence
searching on the Search pull-down menu.
If a station is found the search will stop.

Manual programme tuning
Repeatedly press the MENU button to select the Station
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Manual programme.
Press the OK button to display the Manual programme
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Name.
Press the GG button and then DD / EE button to use a blank,
+, -, the numeric 0to 9and the alphabet Ato Z.
Select the next position by pressing the FF / GGbutton and
then make your choice of the second character, and so on.
Press the OK button.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to normal TV
viewing.

Press the DD / EE button to select Manual programme.
Press the OK button to display the Manual pro-
gramme menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Fine.
Press the FF / GG button to fine tune for the best picture

The finely tuned programme will be indicated by a yellow

When a programme number is
skipped it means that you will be
unable to select it using the DD / EE
button during normal TV viewing.
If you want to select the skipped
programme, directly enter the pro-
gramme number with the NUM-
BER buttons or select it in the pro-
gramme edit or table menu.

grammes directly.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to select

Press the DD / EE button to select Favourite
programme.
Press the OK button to display the Favourite
programme menu.
Press the FF / GGbutton to select On or Off.
Press the DD / EE button to select -- -----.
Select a desired programme with the FF / GG but-
ton or NUMBER buttons. Any number under 10
is entered with a numeric Ô0Õin front of it, i.e. Ô05Õ
for 5.
You can store up to 5 programmes.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to
normal TV viewing.

Repeatedly press the MENU button to select the Picture
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select the desired picture item.
Press the FF / GG button to make appropriate adjustments.
Press the OK button to store it for the picture User.
The display Stored appears.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to normal TV
viewing.
You can also recall a desired picture (Dynamic,
Standard, Mild, Game or User) with PSM button on the
remote control.
The picture Dynamic, Standard, Mild and Game are
programmed for optimum picture reproduction at the factory
and cannot be changed.

Picture adjustment
To initialize values (reset to default settings), select
the Normal option. When adjusting color tempera-
ture options (red, green or blue) manually, CSM is
automatically changed to User.
Press the MENU button and then DD/EEbutton to
select the PICTURE menu.
Press the GGbutton and then DD/EEbutton to select
CSM.
Press the GGbutton and then DD/EEbutton to select the
desired colour temperature.
Press the MENU button to save.

You can adjust picture contrast, brightness, colour intensity, sharpness and tint (NTSC AV only) to the levels you prefer.

Picture adjustment
You can watch TV in various picture formats; 16:9, 14:9, 4:3, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, Auto.
Repeatedly press the ARC button to select your desired picture format.
1. Press the ARC button to select a desired picture format.
• Each press of ARC button changes the screen display as shown below.
• You can also select 16:9, 14:9,4:3, Zoom 1,Zoom 2, Auto in the SCREEN menu.
Note :
a. 16:9
and

are available in PC mode only.
b. If 4:3 is on the screen for a long time, that fixed image may remain visible.

Sound adjustment
When a programme is selected, the
sound information for the station
appears after the programme number
and station name disappear.
In stereo reception if the stereo signal
is weak, you can switch to mono by
pressing the I/II button twice. In mono
reception the depth of sound is
improved. To switch back to stereo,
press the I/II button twice again.

Repeatedly press the
MENU button to select
the Sound menu.
Press the DD / EE button
to select the desired
sound item; Equalizer,
Balance or AVL.
Press the FF / GG button
to make desired adjust-
ment.
Press the OK button in
Equalizer to set the
Equalizer User.
Press the DD / EE button to select your preferred
setting ; Flat, Music, Movie, Speech or User.
To set the Equalizer User,
a. Select User by pressing the DD / EE button.
b. Select a sound band by pressing the FF / GG
button.
c. Select appropriate sound level with the DD / EE
button.
d. Press the OK button to store it for the sound
User.
The display Stored appears.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to
normal TV viewing.
You can also recall a desired sound setting (Flat,
Music, Movie, Speech or User) with SSM but-
ton on the remote control. The sound settings
Flat,Music, Movie and Speech are pro-
grammed for optimum sound reproduction at the
factory and cannot be changed.
You can select your preferred sound setting; Flat, Music, Movie or Speech and you can also adjust the sound frequen-
cy of equalizer, balance. If you switch AVL to on, the set automatically keeps on an equal volume level even if you change
programmes.

Sound adjustment
If your set is equipped with the receiver for NICAM recep-
tion, the high quality NICAM (Near Instantaneous
Companding Audio Multiplex) digital sound can be
received.
Sound output can be selected according to the type of
received broadcast as follows by pressing the I/II button
repeatedly.
When NICAM mono is received, you can select NICAM
MONO or FM MONO.
When NICAM stereo is received, you can select NICAM
STEREO or FM MONO. If the stereo signal is weak, switch
to FM mono.
When NICAM dual is received, you can select NICAM
DUAL I, NICAM DUAL II or NICAM DUAL I+II or
MONO. When FM mono is selected the display MONO
appears on the screen.

In AV mode, you can select output sound for the left
and right loudspeakers.
Repeatedly press the I/II button to select the sound
output.
L+R :Audio signal from audio L input is sent to left
loud-speaker and audio signal from audio R input
is sent to right loud speaker.
L+L : Audio signal from audio L input is sent to left
and right loud speakers.
R+R : Audio signal from audio R input is sent to left
and right loud speakers.
NICAM reception (option)

Sound output selection
If a programme is received in two languages (dual lan-
guage), you can switch to DUAL I, DUAL II or DUAL
I+II by pressing the I/II button repeatedly.
DUAL I sends the primary broadcast language to the loud-
speakers.
DUAL II sends the secondary broadcast language to the
loudspeakers.
DUAL I+II sends a separate language to each loud-

Time setting
Note :
a. In the event of power interruption (disconnection or power failure), the clock must
be reset.
b. Two hours after the set is switched on by the on time function it will automatically
switch back to standby mode unless a button has been pressed.
c. Once the on or off time is set, these functions operate daily at the preset time.

Clock
You must set the time correctly before
using on/off time function.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to
select the Time menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select
Clock.
Press the GG button and then press the
DD / EE button to select the desired
timer item (hour, minutes).
Make desired adjustment with the DD /
EEbutton on the desired timer item.
Press the OK button.

Off time
The off timer automatically switches
the set to standby at the preset time.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to

Other functions
Inputs can be set for TV, AV or PC mode. AV mode is used
when a video cassette recorder (VCR), or other equipment
is connected to the set.
Note : When a VCR is connected via the aerial socket the
set is used in TV mode. See the ÔConnection of external
equipmentÕ section.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to select the Special
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Input.
Press the FF / GGbutton to select TV, AV1, AV2, SAV or
PC.
The three AV and PC modes are :
AV1: VCR connected to the Euro scart socket of the set
AV2: VCR connected to the AV 2 of the set
SAV: S-VIDEO VCR connected to the S-VIDEO sockets of
the set
PC : PERSONAL COMPUTER connected to the PC socket
of the set
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to normal TV
viewing.
Alternatively you can select the TV or AV mode by press-
ing the INTUT SELECT button.
In AV mode, to return to TV mode, press the DD / EEor
NUMBER buttons.

The TV can be set so that the remote control handset is
needed to control it. This feature can be used to prevent
unauthorized viewing.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to select the Special
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Child lock.
Press the FF / GGbutton on the remote control handset to
select On.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to normal TV
viewing.
With the lock on, the display Child lock on appears on
the screen if any button on the front panel is pressed while
viewing the TV.
Note : The display Child lock on will not appears on the
screen if any button on the front panel is pressed while dis-
playing the menus.

Other functions
If your VCR outputs an AV switching voltage when connected to the Euro
scart socket, the set will switch to AV1, AV2 mode automatically. But if
you want to keep on watching in TV mode, press the DD / EEor NUMBER
buttons. Press the INPUT SELECT button to return to AV modes.
Note :
If both
AV1, AV2
sockets have been connected to the VCRs simul-
taneously, only the
AV2
can be received.

Auto AV switching
If you select Auto sleep On the set will automatically switch itself to stand-
by mode approximately ten minutes after a TV station stops broadcasting.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to select the Special-
menu.
Press the DD / EE button to select Auto sleep.
Press the FF / GGbutton to select On.
Repeatedly press the MENU button to return to normal TV viewing.

Auto sleep
You don’t have to remember to switch the
set off before you go to sleep. The sleep
timer automatically switches the set to
standby after the preset time has elapsed.
Press the SLEEP button to select the num-
ber of minutes. The display rr0will appear
on the screen, followed by 10,20, 30, 60,
90, 120, 180 and 240.The timer begins to
count down from the number of minutes
selected.
Note :
-To view the remaining sleep time, press
the SLEEP button once.
-To cancel the sleep time, repeatedly press
the SLEEP button until the display

Teletext(option)
Teletext (or TOP text) is an optional function, therefore only
a set with the teletext system can receive the teletext
broadcast.
Teletext is a free service broadcast by most TV stations
which gives up-to-the-minute information on news, weath-
er, television programmes, share prices and many other
topics.
The teletext decoder of this TV can support the SIMPLE,
TOP and FASTEXT systems. SIMPLE (standard teletext)
consists of a number of pages which are selected by
directly entering the corresponding page number. TOP and
FASTEXT are more modern methods allowing quick and
easy selection of teletext information.
Enter the desired page number as a three digit number
with the NUMBER buttons. If during selection you press a
wrong number, you must complete the three digit number
and then re-enter the correct page number.
The DD / EE button can be used to select the preceding or
following page.
Press the TEXT button to switch to teletext. The initial
page or last page appears on the screen.
Two page numbers, TV station name, date and time are
displayed on the screen headline. The first page number
indicates your selection, while the second shows the cur-
rent page displayed.
Press the TEXT or INPUT SELECT button to switch off
teletext. The previous mode reappears.

SIMPLE text
Page selection
If the TV is in SIMPLE text, TOP text or FASTEXT mode,
press the button to switch to LIST mode.
Four teletext page numbers of your choice can be colour
coded and easily selected by pressing the corresponding
coloured button on the remote control handset.
Press a coloured button.
Using the NUMBER buttons, select the page you wish to
programme.
Press the OK button. Then the selected page is stored as
the selected page number with blinking once. From now
on, you can select this page with the same coloured but-
ton.
The three other coloured buttons are programmed in this
way.

Teletext(option)
The user guide displays four fields-red, green, yellow and
blue at the bottom of the screen. The yellow field denotes
the next group and the blue field indicates the next block.

TOP text (option)
The teletext pages are colour coded along the bottom of
the screen and are selected by pressing the corresponding
coloured button.

FASTEXT mode
With the blue button you can progress from block to block.
Use the yellow button to proceed to the next group with
automatic overflow to the next block.
With the green button you can proceed to the next exist-
ing page with automatic overflow to the next group.
Alternatively the DD button can be used.
The red button permits to return to previous selection.
Alternatively the EE button can be used.
Block / group / page selection
Corresponding to the SIMPLE teletext mode, you can
select a page by entering it as a three digit number using
the NUMBER buttons in TOP mode.
Direct page selection
Press the button to select the index page.
You can select the pages which are colour coded along
the bottom line with the same coloured buttons.
Corresponding to the SIMPLE teletext mode, you can
select a page by entering its three digit page number with
the NUMBER buttons in FASTEXT mode.
The DD / EE button can be used to select the preceding or
following page.

REVEAL
Press this button to display concealed information, such as
solutions of riddles or puzzles.
Press this button again to remove the information from the
display.
SIZE
Selects double height text.
Press this button to enlarge the top half of the page.

Press this button again to return to the normal display.
UPDATE
Displays the TV picture on the screen while waiting for the new
teletext page. The display will appear at the top left hand
corner of the screen. When the updated page is available then
display will change to the page number.
Press this button to view the updated teletext page.

Special teletext functions
HOLD
Stops the automatic page change which will occur if a tele-
text page consists of 2 or more sub pages. The number of
sub pages and the sub page displayed is, usually, shown
on the screen below the time. When this button is pressed
the stop symbol is displayed at the top left-hand corner of
the screen and the automatic page change is inhibited.
To continue press this button again.
MIX
Displays the teletext pages superimposed on the TV picture.
To switch the TV picture off press this button again.
TIME
When viewing a TV programme, press this button to display
the time at the top right hand corner of the screen. Press
this button again to remove the display. In the teletext
mode, press this button to select a sub page number. The
sub page number is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
To hold or change the sub page, press the RED/GREEN, DD
/ EE or NUMBER buttons.
Press again to exit this function.

1. Connect the signal cable from the monitor output sock-
et of the PERSONAL COMPUTER to the PC input
socket of the set.
2. Connect the audio cable from the PC to the PC SOUND
sockets of the set.
3. Press the INPUT SELECT button to select PC.
4. Switch on the PC, and the PC screen appears on the
set.
The set can be operated as the PC monitor.
Note : If you have an Apple macintosh, connect the VGA
desktop block (not supplied) from the 3 row 15 pin to 2 row
15 pin with the signal cable and connect the VGA desktop
block to the Macintosh.

Note :
a. If the set is cold, there may be a small ÒflickerÓ when the
set is switched on. This is normal, there is nothing
wrong with the set.
b. If possible, use the VESA 1,024x768@60Hz video
mode to obtain the best image quality for your LCD mon-
itor. If used under the other resolutions, some scaled or
processed pictures may appear on the screen. If used to
PC vertical frequency 85Hz, some noise can be seen
when PIP is on. In this case, set the PC vertical frequen-
cy to 60Hz. The set has been pre-adjusted to the mode
VESA 1,024x768@60Hz.
c. Some dot defects may appear on the screen, like Red,
Green or Blue spots. However, this will have no impact
or effect on the monitor performance.
d. Do not press the LCD screen with your finger for a long
time as this may produce some temporary distortion
effects on the screen.
e. When the PC screen appears on the set, a message may
appear on the screen, and the message will differ accord-
ing to the Window system version (Win98, 2000). If a
message appears click ÒNextÓ until the message finishes.
f. If the message Òout of RangeÓappears on the screen,
adjust the PC as in the ÔDisplayable Monitor
SpecificationÕ section.

You can adjust picture contrast, brightness, horizontal/vertical position, clock, clock phase, auto-configure and reset as
you prefer.
1. Repeatedly press the

button to select the PC monitor mode.
2. Press the MENU button to select the Picture menu.
3. Press the DD / EE button to select the desired picture item.
4. Press the FF / GG button to make appropriate adjustments.
H-Position / V-Position
This function is to adjust picture to left/right and up/down as you prefer.
Clock
This function is to minimize any vertical bars or stripes visible on the screen background. And the horizontal screen
size will also change.
Clock Phase
This function allows you to remove any horizontal noise and clear or sharpen the image of characters.
Auto-configure
This function is for the automatic adjustment of the screen position, clock and clock phase. The displayed image will
disappear for a few seconds while the Auto-configuration is in progress.
Note : Some signal from some graphics boards may not function properly. If the results are unsatisfactory, adjust
your monitorÕs position, clock and clock phase manually.
Reset
This function allows you to return to the good picture reproduction programmed at the factory and cannot be changed.
Wxga
To see a normal picture, match the resolution of RGB mode and selection of Wxga(1280x768) mode.
5. Press the OK button to store it for the PC monitor picture.
