instruction manual contains important operating instructions
for the IC-F5011, IC-F5013/H, IC-5016/H, IC-F5018H VHF
MOBILE TRANSCEIVERS and the IC-F6011, F6013/H,

0 FOR CLASS B UNINTENTIONAL RADIATORS:
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with
the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of

power source ot more than ts V DC such as a 24 V battery.
This connection will ruin the transceiver.
AWARNlNG! NEVER cut the DC power cable be-
tween the DC plug and iuse holder. If an incorrect connec—
tion is made after cutting, the transceiver might be damaged.
AWARNlNG! NEVER place the transceiver where
normal operation of the vehicle may be hindered or where it
could cause bodily injury
CAUTlON! NEVER allow children to touch the trans-
ceiver.
CAUTlON! NEVER expose the transceiver to rain.

USE the specified microphone only. Other microphones have
difterent pin assignments and may damage the transceiver.
DO NOT use or place the transceiver in areas with tem—
peratures below —30°C (—22°F) or above +60°C (+t40°F), or
in areas subiect to direct sunlight, such as the dashboard.
DO NOT operate the transceiver Without running the ve-
hicle‘s engine. The vehicles battery will quickly run out when
the transceiver transmits while the vehicle's engine is OFF.
DO NOT place the transceiver in excessively dusty enVi—
ronments.
DO NOT place the transceiver against walls. This will ob—
strucl heat dissipation.
DO NOT use chemical agents such as benzine or alcohol
when cleaning, as they damage the transceiver surfaces.

cerning your transceiver’s programming.

Push this Key for 1 sec. to look all programmable keys except

Activates one of (or two ol) the following functions on each
channel independently.
~ Push and hold the key to unmuts the channel (audio is srritted.

~ Push the key to toggle the mute and unmute conditions (toggles
‘Audible' and ‘lnaudible‘y
~ Push the key to mute the channel (see to ‘Inaudible‘ only),

- The [CAL A] and/or [CAL B] keys may be available when
your system en'ploys selective ‘lndividuaI/Group’ calls. Ask
your Dealer which call is assigned to each key.

0 EMERGENCY KEY
Push and hold the key to transm‘n an emergency call.
~ it you want to cancel the emergency call, push and hold (or
push) the key again before transmitting the call.
~ Depending on the pre—settlng, the emergency call is trans—
mitted one time only, or repeatedly, until receiving a control
code.
0 Hoakswn
Several functions are available for the hanger tunctlon when
taking the microphone irom its hanger (hanger-oft) and/or
returning it to the hanger (hangerron).
0 USER SET MODE KEY
Changes the contents oi the items in the User Set mode.
Please refer to p. 8.
«Push and hold this key for 1 sec to enter set mode Push
this key again momentarily to select the desired item. Push
[P2] and [P3] to set the desired level/condition.
Push and hold this key again to exit set mode.
~ User set mode also available via the ‘Power ON tunction’.
O SCRAMBLER KEY
~ Push and hold to turn the voice scrambler tunction ON.
~ Push this key to turn the voice scrambler function OFF.

SCRAMBLEFI UNIT is required.

- UT-110.Rolling type. Provides higher communication sewrity.

~ This transceiver requires version 3102 of these units. Do
not install version #0t , as they are not compatible.

OPERATION
lChanneI selection
Severai types of channel selection are availabie. The meth—
ods may differ according to your system setup.
NON-BANK TYPE:
Push [CH UP]/[CH DN] to select the desired operating chan-
nei, in sequence; or. push one 01 the [CH 1] to [CH 4] keys to
select a channei directly.
BANK-TYPE:
Push [BANK] to toggle between bank1 and 2.
AUTOMATIC SCAN TYPE:
Channei setting is not necessary lor this type. When turning
the power ON. the transceiver automaticaily starts scanning.
Scanning stops when receiving a cali or when taking the
microphone oft hook.

2 OPERATION
lReceiving and transmitting
RECEIVING:
® Push [POWER] to turn the power ON.
@ Push [CH UP] or [CH DN] to select a channel
®When receiving a call, adjust the audio output level to a
comfortable listening level.
TRANSMITTING:
(9 Take the microphone oil hook.
0 The channel is busy when TX/RX indicator turns green
- According to the trasoeiver's setting;
' 2»t0ne, 5-tone mute my be released. (The ‘audible’ condition is
selected)
~A priority channel may be selected automatically
® Wait tor the channel to become clear
@ Push the [CALL] key when initiating a call trom your side.
- According to the trasoeiver's setting;
~Coded audio may be heard from the transceiver. then TX/Fix
indicator turns green
~ This operation may not be necessary depending on your signal-
ing system, Ask your Dealer.
® While pushing and holding [PTI'], speak into the micro»
phone at your normal voioe level.
Release [PTT] to receive.
IMPORTANT: To maximize the readability of your signal:
(1) Pause briefly alter pushing [PT'H
(2) Hold the microphone 2to 5 cm from your mouth, then
speak into the microphone at a normal voice level.
OTransmitting notes
- Transmit Inhibit iunctlon
The transceiver has several inhibit lunctions which restrict
transmission under the lollowing conditions:
' The channel is in mute condition.
~ Channel is busy.
~A matched/non-matched CTCSS code is received.
' The selected channel is a ‘receive only' channel.
- “me-out timer
After continuous transmission tor a pre—programmed period,
the timeout timer is activated causing the transceiver to stop
transmitting and automatically select receive.
- Penalty timer
Once the timeout timer is activated, transmission is further
inhibited for a period determined by the penalty timer.
. P1'I1D call
The transceiver sends the ID code (57tone. DTMF or digital
ANI) automatically when [PTT] is pushed (beginning oi trans-
mission) and released (end of transmission) depends on the
setting.
<> Scrambler function
The UT—109 (#02) or UT7110 (#02) optional voice scrambler
unit provides high performance private communication
between stations With the same scrambler codes.
(D Push and hoid [SCRM] to turn the scrambler lunction ON.
(7) Push [SCRM] to turn the function OFF.
0 Emergency Call
The emergency call can be penormed using the [Emergency
single] or [Emergency Repeat] key (p 5). The transceiver
will send an emergency command (5-tone, DTMP or MDC
1200) once or repeatediy until receiving the oontroi code.
The emergency transmission is penormed on the emergency
channel, however, when no emergency channel is speciiied.

OPERATION 2
0 User set mode
User set mode is accessed at power ON and allows you to
set seldom-changed settings. in this case you can “cus-
tomize“ transceiver operation to suit your preferences and
operating styie.
Entering the user set mode:
(DWhiIe pushing and holding [P1] and [P2], push [POWER] to
enter user set mode at power ON.
®Push and hold [P0] to enter user set mode Push [P0]
again momentariiy to select the item. The channel indicator

functions can be freely assigned to these keys,
Attach the supplied lunction name stickers above the appropriate
keys for easy recognition of that key's assigned tunction.
3 CONNECTION AND MAINTENANCE
l Mounting the transceiver
The universal mounting bracket supplied wlth your transceiv—
er allows overhead mounting,
~Mount the transceiver securely with the 4 supplied screws
to a thicksurfaoe which can support more than t.5 Kg.

When using

lOptionaI UT-108 installation
lnstall the optlonal UT—108 DTMF decoder unit as lollows:
® Turn the power OFF, then disconnect the DC power cable.
® Unscrew the 4 screws‘ then remove the bottom covert
@ lnstallthe unit as shown in the diagram below.
@ Replace the bottom cover and screws, then reconnect the
DC power cable.

(D Turn the power OFFI then disconnect the DC power cable,
® Unscrew the 4 screws, then remove the bottom oover.
@ Cut the pattern on the PCB at the TX mlc circuit (MIC) and
FIXAF circuit (DISC) as shown below

installation in the page at Ielt.
@ Return the bottom cover and screws to the original posi—
tion.

3 CONNECTION AND MAINTENANCE
l Antenna
A key element in the performance of any communication
systems is an antenna. Contact your dealer for more infor-
mation regarding antennas and how to install them.
I Fuse replacement
A fuse is installed in each fuse holder of the supplied DC
power cable*. If a fuse blows or the transceiver stops func-
tioning, track down the source of the problem it possible, and
then replace the damaged fuse with a new rated one.
*Depending on version, only 1 fuse holder may be attached.
D Fuse rating: 10 A (for 1 fuse holder)/20 A (for 2 fuse holders)
USE the applicable fuse only.
l Cleaning
If the transceiver becomes dusty or dirty, wipe it clean with a
soft, dry cloth.
t; AVOID the use of solvents such as benzene or
alcohol, as they may damage the transceiver sur-
faces.

ensure this distance is met, the installation of the antenna must
be mounted at least 45 centimeters away from the nearest edge
of the vehicle in order to protect against exposure to bystanders.
2. IC-F6011:
The antenna is required to be located outside of a vehicle and
kept at a distance of 37 centimeters or more between the trans-
mitting antenna of this device and any persons during operation.
For small vehicle as worst case, the antenna shall be located on
the roof top at any place on the centre line along the vehicle in
order to achieve 37 centimeters separation distance. In orderto
ensure this distance is met, the installation of the antenna must
be mounted at least 37 centimeters away from the nearest edge
of the vehicle in order to protect against exposure to bystanders.
4 SAFETY TRAINING INFORMATION
To ensure that your exposure to RF electromag-
netic energy is within the FCC allowable limits for
occupational use, always adhere to the following

such interference, turn off the radio in areas where signs are posted
to do so. DO NOT operate the transmitter in areas that are sensitive
to electromagnetic radiation such as hospitals, aircraft, and blasting
