This product is intended to be used only with the power supply provided. Using another power supply can cause damage to the unit. This product is intended for indoor use. The Converge Transmitter can be connected to a computer via USB, an external audio source such as an iPod/ iPhone, other digital media players or anything with a headphone jack. The Converge Transmitter can also be connected to a home stereo or home theater system. The output of the Converge Transmitter can be connected to powered multi-media/computer speakers or a home stereo receiver/amplifier. Computer USB Connection Using the included USB cable, plug one end into the Converge Transmitter and the other end into an available USB port on a computer. Audio input and power to the Converge Transmitter is supplied through the USB port -- no additional cabling or external power is required. An auxiliary audio source may also be connected by plugging in the supplied stereo headphone cable to the jack on the Converge Transmitter marked AUX IN. The other end of the cable can be connected to the headphone jack of any external audio device. You may toggle between inputs by pressing the source button located on the top of the Converge Transmitter. Powered multi-media/computer speakers can be connected to the Converge Transmitter by plugging in the stereo jack from the speakers into the jack labeled AUDIO OUT. IMPORTANT - Set the computer or external audio device’s Volume output to maximum level. See “Operations” instruction on page 10 of this manual. COMPUTER COMPUTER SPEAKERS TRANSMITTER USB PORT Eng Converge Transmitter AUX IN - Non USB Connection English By using the included power supply, the Converge Transmitter can function without connection to the USB port of a computer. An auxiliary audio source may be connected by plugging in the supplied stereo headphone cable to the jack on the Converge Transmitter marked AUX IN. The other end of the cable can be connected to the headphone jack of any external audio device. Input from the external audio source will be broadcast to all Eos receivers/speakers. In this configuration only the AUX IN function is supported. Powered multi-media/computer speakers can be connected to the Converge Transmitter by plugging in the stereo jack from the speakers into the jack labeled AUDIO OUT. AUX IN Connection The diagram below shows the connection using the stand-alone, non-USB connection to an external audio device. IMPORTANT - For best performance set the external audio device’s Volume output to maximum level. See “Operations” instruction on page 10 of this manual. COMPUTER SPEAKERS TRANSMITTER Converge Transmitter Stereo System - Non USB Connection By using the included power supply, the Converge Transmitter can function without connection to the USB port of a computer. A home stereo system may be connected by plugging in the supplied stereo headphone cable to the jack on the Converge Transmitter marked AUX IN. The other end of the cable can be connected to the headphone jack of the Stereo Receiver/Amplifier using a headphone jack adapter (not supplied). Output from the stereo system will be broadcast to all Eos receiver/ speakers. In this configuration only the AUX IN function is supported. Stereo System Connection The diagram below shows the connection using the stand-alone, non-USB connection to a stereo receiver/amplifier. Note - When connected to the line output of a Stereo System, the Volume output from the system has no effect on the output level of the Converge Transmitter. TRANSMITTER STEREO RECEIVER/AMPLIFIER INPUTS OUTPUTS Eng Converge Transmitter Operation English Volume Settings Set the Volume on your computer or other external audio device AS WELL AS your software based audio program (iTunes, Real Player, Windows Media Player...) to the Maximum Volume Level. When using web based internet radio like Pandora, Last FM, YouTube... make sure that the Volume level is ALSO set to the Maximum Level. Powering up the Converge Transmitter Once the Eos Converge Transmitter is connected to the USB port or external power supply, press the POWER button on the top of the Converge Transmitter. The LED in the antenna mast will illuminate as will the source LED confirming power. Selecting Source The default source is USB, press the source button to toggle between USB and AUX. Windows Users 1. Plug your powered desktop speakers into the AUDIO OUT jack on the back of the Converge Transmitter. 2. Open the Control Panel from the “Start” menu and select “Sounds and Audio Devices.” 3. Under the “Audio” tab, choose “Converge USB TX” for “Sound Playback.” 4. Set PCs Volume level to the Maximum Output Level. Your PC’s sound will now be output through the Converge Transmitter as well as the AUDIO OUT jack. NOTE- If no sound is output, restart iTunes or other software based audio playback program (like Windows Media Player, Real Player...). If using web based internet radio like Pandora, Last FM, YouTube... reload your the web page that is playing the audio content. Macintosh Users 1. Plug your powered desktop speakers into the AUDIO OUT jack on the back of the Converge Transmitter. 2. Open System Preferences and select “Sound” and Click on the “Output” tab. 3. Under the “Output” tab, select “Converge USB TX.” 4. Set Mac’s Volume level to the Maximum Output Level. Your Mac’s sound will now be output through the Converge Transmitter as well as the AUDIO OUT jack. 10 Converge Transmitter Operation Transmitting USB Audio 1. Launch the audio application on your computer. 2. Set Volume level to the Maximum Output Level. 3. Select the play function from within the application. Note: the Eos Converge Transmitter will transmit any audio played on any system application including, but not limited to iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Internet radio stations like Pandora, Rhapsody & Last FM… Transmitting External Audio The Eos system allows you to connect and play audio from an external source like an iPod or other MP3 player, satellite radio, CD player or other audio device with a headphone jack or analog audio output. Use the provided headphone cable to connect between the audio source and the Converge Transmitter. 1. Using the Source Button, select AUX (AUX LED will illuminate). 2. Set Volume level to the Maximum Output Level. 3. Press PLAY on the external audio device. Linking With Eos Receivers/Speakers You can link to up to 4 wireless Receivers/Speakers located up to 150 ft. away from the Eos Converge Transmitter. All Eos wireless Receivers/Speakers are shipped in an “open” position, meaning that they will automatically link with your Converge Transmitter as soon as they are turned on. Wireless Receivers/Speakers can be associated to a specific Converge Transmitter, meaning that they will only receive signal from the Converge Transmitter that they were linked to. For instructions on how to associate your wireless Receivers/Speakers to a specific Converge Transmitter see the section titled “Wireless Receivers/Speakers ID Settings”. 11 Eng Converge Transmitter Controls and Functions English POWER SOURCE LINK RANGE EXTENDER WiFi CO-EXISTENCE Power On/Off - Switches the power to the wireless transmitter on/off Source – Switches between USB sound input and auxiliary input Audio Out – Allows connection of powered desktop speakers Range Extender – Extends the transmission range of the Eos system. Use only if transmission problems occur. for more information see “Range Extender” section on page 22 of this manual. WiFi Co-Exstistence - Default position On/On. Use only if there are problems when if close range to a WiFi router or other radiating device. Link Button – Used to register speakers to a specific Converge Transmitter. For operation, see “Wireless Speakers/Receiver ID Setings” on page 20 of this manual. 12 Converge Wireless Receiver About the Converge Wireless Receiver The Converge Wireless Receiver is designed to connect to your main home audio system or to powered computer speakers. The Receiver features controls allowing you to control the play/ pause and track forward and back on iTunes and other software based media players. Powering up your Converge Wireless Receiver 1. Connect power supply to jack marked DC5V 2. Toggle on Power Switch on rear of receiver. The antenna LED will illuminate confirming power. Connecting to a home stereo receiver 1. Using the provided RCA to RCA stereo cable, connect cable to the rear of the Converge Wireless Receiver unit marked AUDIO out. 2. Connect the other end of the cable into any available audio input jack of your main home audio system receiver. 3. Using your home stereo receiver’s input selector switch, select the input that you connected the Converge Wireless Receiver into. 4. When selected, audio from the Converge Transmitter will play from your home stereo system’s receiver. Adjust volume level from the stereo receiver. RECEIVER STEREO RECEIVER/AMPLIFIER INPUTS 13 Eng Converge Wireless Receiver Connecting to Powered Multi-Media/Computer Speakers English Using the provided “Y” cable, connect RCA cables to the rear of the Converge Wireless Receiver unit marked AUDIO out. 1. Plug the cable from the powered speakers into the jack on the end of the “Y” cable. 2. Switch the Receiver’s power switch ON 3. Turn the powered speakers ON and audio from the Converge Transmitter will begin playing. 4. Adjust the sound level from the powered speakers volume control. COMPUTER SPEAKERS RECEIVER 14 Converge Wireless Receiver Controls and Functions Eng PREVIOUS TRACK NEXT TRACK PLAY/PAUSE Function Buttons When the Eos Converge Transmitter is connected to a computer, you can use the buttons on the Converge Wireless Receiver to control play/pause and track forward/back on iTunes and many other computer based music player programs. Note: feature buttons cannot be used to control an iPod or other device that is connected via the AUX input; nor can they be used to control streaming Internet radio stations. Antenna LED Indicator Light The antenna on the Receiver is equipped with a blue LED that tells the operational status. • LED on solid = power on, linked with Converge Transmitter. • LED on blinking = power on, not linked with Converge Transmitter. Note: If there is no connection within one minute, the unit will enter a sleep mode and turn off the amplifier and the antenna LED. The unit will continue to check for a wireless connection and will automatically connect with the Converge Transmitter signal as soon as it is detected. 15 Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver About the Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver English The Eos Converge Amplified Wireless Receiver is designed to be used as a stand-alone receiver in conjunction with bookshelf type speakers. Optionally, a powered sub-woofer can be connected to the receiver. Powering up your Converge Wireless Receiver 1. Connect power supply to jack marked DC24V 2. To power on the Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver, press the volume knob. The ring around the volume knob will illuminate as will the LED on the antenna mast. Speaker Connection The diagram below shows the connection using bookshelf speakers. For extra bass, a powered subwoofer can be connected to the Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver. AMPLIFIED RECEIVER LEFT SPEAKER RIGHT SPEAKER POWERED SUBWOOFER AUDIO IN 16 Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver Auxiliary Input The Eos Converge Amplified Wireless Receiver can also take direct audio input from the auxiliary input jack located on the front of the receiver. Auxiliary Audio Connection Using the supplied 3.5mm stereo cable, plug one end into the headphone jack of the desired audio source and the other end into the AUX IN jack located on the front of the receiver. Note - Plugging in the mini cable to the receiver will automatically switch the source from the wireless connection to the auxiliary connection. 17 Eng Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver Controls and Functions English PREVIOUS TRACK AUX IN NEXT TRACK PLAY/PAUSE VOLUME - PRESS TO POWER ON Power & Volume Control To power on the Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver, press the volume knob. The ring around the volume knob will illuminate as will the LED on the antenna mast. Function Buttons When the Eos Converge Transmitter is connected to a computer, you can use the buttons on the Converge Wireless Receiver to control play/pause and track forward/back on iTunes and many other computer based music player programs. Note: feature buttons cannot be used to control an iPod or other device that is connected via the AUX input; nor can they be used to control streaming Internet radio stations. AUX IN jack Use the 3.5mm stereo audio cable to connect an audio source directly to the amplifier. Plugging in a cable to this connector will automatically switch the source from the wireless input to the AUX IN input. 18 Amplified Converge Wireless Receiver Controls and Functions Antenna LED Indicator Light The antenna on the Receiver is equipped with a blue LED that tells the operational status. • LED on solid = power on, linked with Converge Transmitter. • LED on blinking = power on, not linked with Converge Transmitter. The unit will continue to check for a wireless connection and will automatically connect with the Converge Transmitter signal as soon as it is detected. 19 Eng Using Your Eos System Wireless Receivers/Speakers ID Settings English All Eos Converge Transmitters, Wireless Speakers and Receivers have the same ID setting. This is done so Receivers/Speakers will automatically link with any Converge Transmitter. The Converge Transmitter will link with the first 4 Wireless Receivers/Speakers that it detects. Linking Wireless Receivers/Speakers to a Specific Converge Transmitter Due to the incredible range of the Eos system, it is possible for your speakers to receive audio from a neighbors system. If this happens, or if you wish to run more than one Eos Wireless System in your house, you can give your Converge Transmitters and the Receivers/Speakers a unique ID. In giving your system a unique ID your Receivers/Speakers will link only to the Converge Transmitter that they are paired to. Setting a Unique ID To give your Converge Transmitter and Receivers/Speakers a Unique ID, do the following: 1. Turn the power OFF on the Converge Transmitter 2. Turn OFF all power to the Wireless Receivers/Speakers that you wish to link. 3. Turn the power ON on the Converge Transmitter 4. Press and hold the “LINK” button on the bottom of the Converge Transmitter for 3 seconds until the “Link LEDs” on the Antenna mast starts blinking. 5. Turn on the Wireless Receivers/Speakers that you wish to link to this Converge Transmitter within 60 seconds of pressing the “LINK” button. Note: to link additional speakers once a unique ID has been set, refer to the “Adding a Speaker to a System with a Unique ID” section on the following page. 20 Using Your Eos System Adding a Receiver/Speaker to a System with a Unique ID Once a unique ID is set on your Converge Transmitter, you will need to do the following to link additional speakers to your Converge Transmitter: Please note - this procedure is only necessary if you have set a unique ID for your Converge Transmitter. 1. Turn the power OFF on the Converge Transmitter 2. Turn OFF power to the Wireless Receivers/Speakers that you wish to link. 3. Turn the power ON on the Converge Transmitter 4. Press and hold the “LINK” button on the bottom of the Converge Transmitter for 8 seconds until the Antenna LED starts blinking and then release button. 5. Turn on the Wireless Speaker/Receivers that you wish to link to this Converge Transmitter one at a time within 60 seconds of pressing the “LINK” button. Note: When Link button is pressed and held, the “Antenna link LEDs” on the Converge Transmitter will blink slowly for a few seconds and then go to a fast blink (fast blinking indicates the Converge Transmitter is in “Add a Speaker Mode”) Resetting the ID to Default To reset the Converge Transmitter and Receiver/Speaker’s ID back to the factory default, do the following: 1. Turn OFF power to the Converge Transmitter 2. Turn OFF all power to the Wireless Receivers/Speakers. 3. While pressing and holding the “LINK” button on the bottom of the Converge Transmitter, press the Power ON button on the Converge Transmitter. Continue to hold the “LINK” button for about 3 seconds until the Antenna Mast LED begins to flash. 4. Release “LINK” button 5. Turn ON the Wireless Receivers/Speakers within 60 seconds of releasing the “LINK” button. Note: Allow each Wireless Receiver/Speaker to Link before turning on the next Wireless Speaker/Receiver. After completing steps 1-5, speakers will be set to the factory default ID and will be able to link with your Converge Transmitter or any other Converge Transmitter with the factory default ID in the vicinity. 21 Eng Using Your Eos System Range Extender English The Range Extender Switch, located on the bottom of the Converge Transmitter, allows you to increase the effective range of the Eos Wireless System. Use this button only if you are having difficulty linking up your Wireless Receivers/Speakers. About Range Extender To maintain a solid, interference free link, the Eos system incorporates an advanced proprietary error correction scheme. Error correction is done by creating a slight delay between the Converge Transmitter and Wireless Speaker. Using this delay, Eos can confirm that the audio packets arrive at the Wireless Speaker/receiver. If the audio packet is not received, the Eos Converge Transmitter can resend it. Eos’ default delay (Range Extender Off ) is 20ms. Turning on the Range Extender Switch increases the delay to 64ms. The increased delay allows Eos to resend more audio packets due to distance from the Converge Transmitter or ambient interference. Note: Due to the 64ms delay, if an Eos Converge Transmitter and Wireless Speaker are in the same room, a slight “echo” effect is apparent. Recycling Information This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product shall not be treated as household waste. Instead please deliver it to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By recycling this product correctly, you will help conserve natural resources and prevent potential negative environmental consequences. For more detailed information about recycling of this product, please contact your local city office, your household waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased the product. 22 Warranty Limited Warranty IntelliTouch warrants this product to be free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use and conditions for a period of 1-year from date of original purchase in the United States. In order to validate your warranty, you must register your product by going on-line (www.eoswireless.com), or by calling 877-465-3927 between Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM Pacific Time. For Warranty service outsie the United States, contact the reseller that you purched the Eos product from. Should service be necessary under this warranty for any reason due to manufacturing defect during this 1-year period from date of original purchase, IntelliTouch will either repair the unit or replace it with a reconditioned unit at no charge. U.S. Warranty Serive - You must call (877-465-3927) to obtain a return authorization number prior to sending your product in for service.
