Introduction
TheGeniusirrigationsystemcombinesdigitaltechnologywithapatentpendingnozzledesigntoproduceanirrigation
systemcapableofdistributingwaterinpatternsthatfittheshapeofthelandscape.TheGeniusirrigationsystemdoes
thiswhilebothreducingthewaterrequiredtoirrigatethelandscapeandsavingsignificantinstallationtimeand
materials.
TheGeniusirrigationsystemisdesignedtosignificantlyreducethelaborrequiredtoinstallin‐groundirrigationsystems
whileatthesametimereducingwaterrequiredtosufficientlywaterthelawn.ThecenterofthesystemistheGenius
sprinklerthatcanbeprogramedtowaterawidevarietyofshapesandsizes.Thissprinklerreducestheneedfor
distributionpipebyupto85%,significantlycutsthenumberofsprinklerheadsrequiredandreducestheamountof
watertypicallywastedtoirrigatethelawnbyupto50%.Whilethecostofthewaterisbornbythepropertyowner,itis
stillabarrierthatcanbeturnedintoanopportunitywhensellingthebenefitsofGeniusirrigationsystemstoconsumers.
Reducinginstallationlaborfortheinstallerandreducingenduserwaterbillsarecompellingreasonsforirrigation
contractorstoconsiderswitchingallorpartoftheirinstallationbusinesstotheGeniusirrigationsystem.Theinstaller
willbeabletoaddressbusinessinmorepricesensitiveareasbyofferingservicesatareducedpricewhilemaintaining
profitabilityoneveryinstallation.Theircustomerswillbehappierwithgreen,hasslefreelawnsandlowerwaterbills
thanthosecustomerswithconventionalirrigationsystems.
Thistrainingmanualisacomponentofatrainingprogramdevelopedtotrainexperiencedirrigationcontractorsonthe
techniquesuniquetoinstallingtheGeniusirrigationsystem.Thisprogramisintendedforlicensed(ifrequiredbylocal
and/orstatecode),experiencedirrigationcontractorsforresidentialandcommercialin‐groundirrigationsystems.Itis
notintendedasacompleteorcomprehensivetrainingprogramforinstallingin‐groundirrigationsystems.

BecausetheGeniussprinklersareindividuallyprogrammable,eachsprinklercanbeprogrammedtowaterthespecific
landscapegeometrywithinthewateringitislocated.Duringtheinstallationprocess,thewaterthrowdistancesare
programmedforeachindividualsprinklertomatchthelandscapegeometryitwillirrigate.Minimumwateringoverlapis
recommendedbetweenGeniussprinklers,andtheneedforhead‐to‐headsprinklerwateringcoverageiseliminated.
Thiseliminationofrequiredhead‐to‐headcoveragecanresultinsavingasmuchas50%ofthewastedwater.
Sinceeachsprinklerhasitsownself‐containedflowcontrolvalve,theneedforvalveboxesservicingmulti‐headzonesis
nolongernecessary.Thisinturnreducestheamountofdistributionpiperequiredtoinstallasystem,inmanycasesby
85%,whichalsoreducesthetimerequiredtopullortrenchthepipe.Theresultisasignificantsavingsininstallation
labor,reducingthetimerequiredtoinstallagivensystemby50%ormore.
