iGlasses Ultrasonic Mobility Aid User Manual Important Safety Information The iGlasses are a secondary mobility device and must not be used on their own without another primary device such as a long cane, mobility cane, or guide dog. They are intended to warn you only of obstacles that may impact your head or upper body. They do not provide protection against, or warning of, any other obstacles or dangerous situations. The warning is in the form of a vibration from the frame of the iGlasses. Turning the iGlasses On/Off Press and hold for one second the round on/off button which is located on the right-hand arm of the iGlasses. You will hear beeps which indicate the level of battery charge: • Four beeps: Fully charged • Three beeps: 75% charged • Two beeps: 50% charged • One beep: 25% charged • Ten beeps: Battery level too low for operation. Charging required. To turn the iGlasses off, press and hold down the on/off button for approximately one second. You will hear a single beep confirming they are now switched off. On/Off button iGlasses operation The arms are adjustable and can be set to the most comfortable length by gently, but firmly, pulling the end of the arm away from the lens area. When the iGlasses are on, the sending sensor will emit a continuous stream of ultrasonic signals. At the same time, the receiving sensor will detect the reflection of the ultrasonic signal and calculate the distance to the obstacle. The two sensors are located above the lenses on the front of the frame. Obstacles that are more than 3 meters (10 feet) away will be ignored. Any object within 3 meters will trigger a vibration in the iGlasses. The frequency of the vibration pulse will gradually increase as the object gets closer until at a distance of 0.7 meters, (2 feet) the vibration becomes continuous. The ultrasonic signals are emitted from the iGlasses in an overlapping cone shaped pattern to maximize object detection. Extendable arm Fine tuning the iGlasses The iGlasses are delivered to you with the vibration level tuned to the lowest intensity. The intensity level can be adjusted to your preferred setting by rotating the thumbwheel on the underside of the right side of the frame. Turn the wheel towards the lens to increase the intensity. Away from the lens decreases the intensity. Vibration intensity tuning thumbwheel Rotate to adjust vibration intensity Charging the iGlasses To recharge the battery, plug the provided charger into the small round hole between the intensity thumbwheel and the lens, on the underside of the right hand side of the frame. The built-in battery is a 3.7V 600mAh rechargeable Li-ion. The iGlasses will beep for two seconds to indicate that the charge cycle has successfully started and will beep again for two seconds when the battery reaches full charge. The charger will automatically deactivate when the battery is fully charged. A full charge will take 2.5 hours (maximum). Only use with the power adapter supplied. 2.5mm Battery charger socket Declaration of Conformity iGlasses fully comply with the directives listed below of UK and European legislation on electronic products entering the UK and European markets.
