Installation Operation
CAUTION: Read this owner’s manual carefully. Become
familiar with the controls, and know how to operate the
Power-Pole shallow water anchor system safely.

Installation
A.Locateasuitableareawithaflatsurfacetomountthefootswitch.
B.Removethefootswitchfromitsrubberpad,andholditinthedesiredlocation.Useafinepoint
markertoinscribetheintendedmountingscrewlocations.
WARNING–Beforedrillingpilotholesforthefootswitchmountingscrews,inspecttheareabeneath
themountingsurfaceinordertoensurethatthedrillbitwillnotcauseanydamage.
C.Usingthe7/64”drillbit,carefullydrillholesinthepreviouslyinscribedlocation.
D.Placethefootswitchbackintoitsrubberpad,andfastenboththeswitchandpadtothevesselusing
a#2Phillips‐headscrewdriverandthe(3)#6x3/4”panheadscrews.
Programming
A.Locatethe“program”buttononthetopoftheHPU,anddepressandholditfor3secondsuntilthe
LEDsteadilyilluminatesgreenincolor.Theunitisnowreadytobeprogrammedwithafootswitch.
‐Note:WhendualPower‐Poleshallowwateranchorsareinstalled,thisprocedureneedonlybe
performedononeHPU.
B.Next,depressandreleaseeitherthe“up”orthe“down”buttononthefootswitch1time.Thegreen
LEDwillinitiallyturnoff,andthenitwillflashsteadilyindicatingthattheprogramminghasbeen
completed.
C.Thefootswitchisnowprogrammed.Testitsfunctionalitywithboththe“up”andthe“down”buttons
toensurethattheprogrammingprocedurewascompletedsuccessfully.
Operation
A.Thefootswitchhasthreespeedsettings(slow,medium,&fast).Depressingandreleasingthe
“speed”buttononthefootswitchwilltogglethroughthethreesettings.
B.TheLEDonthefootswitchwillflashataspeedcorrespondingtoeitheraslow,medium,orfast
setting.
C.WithdualPower‐Poleshallowwateranchorsinstalled,thefootswitchcanalsobeusedtotoggle
betweenindependentorsimultaneouscontroloftheanchors.Depressingandreleasingthe
“directional”buttononthefootswitchwilltogglethroughthethreesettings(portsideonly,starboard
sideonly,orsimultaneouscontol).

controlsettings
E.ToraiseorlowerthePower‐Poleshallowwateranchor,pressandholdeitherthe“up”or“down”
buttononthefootswitch.Theanchorwillonlycontinuetomovesolongasyoukeepthebutton
depressed.
F.Alternately,thefootswitchcanbeusedtoenabletheautomode.Doubletapping(depressingand
releasing2timeswithin1second)eitherthe“up”orthe“down”buttononthefootswitchwillcause
theanchortoretractordeployautomatically.ThePower‐Poleshallowwateranchorwillcontinueto
moveinsaiddirectionuntiliteitherretractscompletelyorsensesasolidbottomsurface.
ChangingBattery
A.Removethe(3)#6x3/4”panheadscrewswitha#2Phillips‐headscrewdriver,andremovethefoot
switchanditsrubberbasefromthevessel’ssurface.
B.Takethefootswitchanditsbasetoadrylocation,andseparatethefootswitchandrubberbase.
C.Thoroughlydrythefootswitchandthenremovethe(7)screwsonitsundersidewitha#1Phillips‐
headscrewdriver.
D.Withthescrewsremoved,lifethecoveroffoftheswitch,andcarefullyremovethecircuitboard.
E.ReplacethebatteryonthecircuitboardwithagenuinereplacementbatteryfromJLMarineSystems,
andsettheboardinasafe,drylocation.
F.Inspecttheinsideofthefootswitchcasethoroughlyforsignsofmoistureaswellasdamagetothe
rubberseals.Iftherubbersealsappeartobedamaged,orofasubstantialamountofmoistureisfound,
pleasecontactamemberofourtechnicalsupportstaff.[(813)689‐9932option2]
‐Note:Ifneeded,ahairdryermaybeusedtodryresidualmoistureinthefootswitchcase.
G.Assembleandinstallthefootswitchinthereverseorder.
