2GRANT OF LICENSE
(1) Subject to the conditions of this Agreement, JVC grants to You a non-exclusive right to use the Program.
You may install and use the Program on a HDD or other storage devices incorporated in Your PC.
(2) You may make one (1) copy of the Program solely for your personal backup or archival purposes.
3RESTRICTION ON THE PROGRAM
(1) You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, revise or modify the Program, except to the
extent that expressly permitted by applicable law.
(2) You may not copy or use the Program, in whole or in part, other than as expressly specified in this
Agreement.
(3) You have no right to grant a license to use the Program, and may not distribute, rent, lease or transfer
the Program to any third party or otherwise let them use the Program.
4LIMITED WARRANTY
JVC warrants that any media in which the Program is embodied are free from any defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of Your purchasing any our products
accompanying the Program. JVC’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy in connection with the
Program shall be replacement of such defective media. EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS WARRANTIES STATED
HEREIN AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, JVC AND ITS LICENSORS DISCLAIM
ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE IN
REGARD TO THE PROGRAM AND THE ACCOMPANYING PRINTED MATERIALS. SHOULD THERE BE

5LIMITED LIABILITY
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL JVC AND ITS LICENSORS BE
LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER,
REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE ARISING
OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PROGRAM, EVEN IF
JVC HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. YOU WILL INDEMNIFY AND
HOLD HARMLESS JVC FROM ANY LOSS, LIABILITY OR COST ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY
CONNECTED TO CLAIMS FROM ANY THIRD PARTY RELATING TO THE USE OF THE PROGRAM.
6TERM
This Agreement will become effective on the date when You install and use the Program on Your machine,
and continue to be in effect until the termination under the following provision.
Should You breach any provision of this Agreement, JVC may terminate this Agreement without giving any
notice to You. In this event, JVC may claim against You for any damages caused by Your breach. Should
this Agreement be terminated, You must immediately destroy the Program stored in Your machine
(including the erasing from any memory in Your PC), and no longer own such Program.
7EXPORT CONTROL
You agree that You will not ship, transfer or export the Program or underlying information and technology
to any countries to which Japan and other relevant countries have initiated an embargo on such goods.
8U.S. GOVERNMENT USER
If You are an agency of the United States of America (the “Government”), You acknowledge JVC’s
representation that the Program is a “Commercial Item” as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
part 2.101 (g) consisting unpublished “Commercial Computer Software” as those items are used at FAR
part 12.212 and is only licensed to You with the same use rights JVC grants all commercial end users
pursuant to the terms of this Agreement.
9GENERAL
(1) No modification, change, addition, deletion or other alternation of or to this Agreement will be valid
unless reduced to writing and signed by an authorized representative of JVC.
(2) If any part of this Agreement is held invalid by or in conflict with any law having jurisdiction over this
Agreement, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
(3) This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court
has jurisdiction over all disputes which may arise with respect to the execution, interpretation and
performance of this Agreement.

If You acquired the Program in Germany, the provisions of Sections 4 (Limited Warranty) and 5 (Limited
Liability) provided above will be replaced with those of the German version of this Agreement.

How to handle a CD-ROM
Take care not to soil or scratch the mirror surface (opposite to the printed surface). Do not write anything
or put a sticker on either the front or back surface. If the CD-ROM gets dirty, gently wipe it with a soft
cloth outward from the center hole using a circular motion.
Do not use conventional disc cleaners or cleaning spray.
Do not bend the CD-ROM or touch its mirror surface.
Do not store your CD-ROM in a dusty, hot or humid environment. Keep it away from direct sunlight.

The system requirements information above is not a guarantee that the provided software will work on all
personal computers meeting those requirements.
If your PC does not meet the system requirements above, you can use the optional USB reader/writer
CU-VUSD70, the PC card adapter CU-VPSD60 or the floppy disk adapter CU-VFSD50 to load the files in
the memory card to the hard disk on your PC.

Use of this software is authorized according to the terms of the software license.

JVC cannot answer questions regarding basic operation of your PC, or questions regarding specifications or
performance of the OS, other applications or drivers.
Follow the procedure described below to install the software.
Quit any other software you are using. (Check that there are no other application icons on the task bar.)
1Load the provided CD-ROM in the PC.
After a moment, the [Important Notice] screen appears.
If the [Important Notice] screen does not appear, double-click [My Computer] and then double-click the
CD-ROM icon.
Confirm the contents and then click [Next].
After a moment, the [Setup] screen appears.
From the [Setup] screen, you can install the following softwares.
USB Mass Storage Class driver
This driver allows your PC to read and write memory cards in the camcorder.
Windows® Me/2000/XP:
Since there is no need to install this driver, the item is not displayed. Simply connect the camcorder to the
PC with a USB cable, and you can read and write memory cards in the camcorder.
Windows® 98/98SE:
Be sure NOT to connect the USB cable between the camcorder and the PC before installing the driver.
Digital Photo Navigator 1.0
This application is used to load still images to photo album and convert them into a variety of formats.
NewSoft Presto! Mr.Photo3/ImageFolio
This application is used to store and catalogue images or create electronic album. You can also process
images in detail on PC.
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 5.0
This application is used to read PDF files.
2Click [Install] on the right side of the desired software and follow the on screen instructions to
complete the installation.
Software Installation (Windows®)
The following is the example of Digital Photo
Navigator on Windows® 98SE.
[License Agreement] screen appears.
Click [Yes].
The following is the example of USB Mass
Storage Class driver on Windows® 98SE.
[Installation Folder] screen appears.
Click [Finish].

3When the message asking whether it is OK to restart the PC appears, click [Yes].
The PC restarts, and after a moment the [Setup] screen from step 1 appears.
4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to install all of the desired software.
Then, [Choose Destination Location] screen
appears.
Click [Next].
Next, [Select Program Folder] screen appears.
Click [Next].
[Setup Status] screen appears. Wait for a
moment until the installation is finished.
When the installation is finished, [Digital Photo
Navigator Setup] screen appears and asks you if
you want to create the icon on the desktop.
If you need it, click [Yes]. If not, click [No].
Then, [InstallShield Wizard] screen appears.
Click [Next].
When the installation is finished, [InstallShield
Wizard Complete] screen appears.
Click [Finish] and then [Setup] screen re-
appears.
NOTES:
The Digital Photo Navigator instruction manual is also included on the CD-ROM in PDF format. Double-
click the [JVC] folder and then double-click the [Docs] folder. Open the “Start.pdf” file and click the
button of the desired language. Note that Adobe® Acrobat® Reader must be installed to read PDF files.
If you perform installation of a software that is already installed, uninstallation will start. In this case,
perform the installation again after uninstallation is finished.

If the camcorder is connected to the PC with the USB cable when installing [USB Mass Storage Class driver],
the installation is not performed properly.
In this case, follow the procedure described below to update the [Device Manager] and install [USB Mass
Storage Class driver] properly.
NOTE:
Disconnect any other USB audio devices from PC before performing the following procedure.
1Use the USB cable to connect the camcorder to the PC. (“Connections (Windows®/
Macintosh)”)
2Select [Start] – [Settings] – [Control Panel]. Double click the [System] icon.
3Select the [Device Manager] tab.
4Delete [GR-D91*] in [Other devices].
* The model name depends on the connected camcorder.
5Disconnect the USB cable from the camcorder. Restart the PC.
6Load the provided CD-ROM in the PC. Install [USB Mass Storage Class driver]. (pg. 4)
7Use the USB cable to connect the camcorder to the PC.
Device driver is installed.
8Confirm the [Removable Disk] icon is displayed in [My Computer].
Connecting the USB cable
Use the USB cable to connect the camcorder to the PC.
We recommend that you use the AC Adapter.
NOTES:
When the USB cable is connected, turning on or off the camcorder or switching the VIDEO/DSC mode on
the camcorder causes malfunctions of the PC.
If you connect the camcorder to the PC through a USB hub, compatibility issues between the hub and the
PC may result in instability in the operation of the PC. If this happens, connect the camcorder directly to the
PC, not through the hub.
Do not use an extension USB cable.

(pg. 6).
6Double-click the [Removable Disk] icon.
The following folders are automatically created in the memory card. Different file types are stored in
different folders.
NOTES:
Saving the wrong kinds of files in a memory card or deleting files or folders from a memory card can cause
problems with the operation of the camcorder. When it is necessary to delete a file from a memory card,
delete it through the camcorder.
Never disconnect the USB cable while the message [ACCESSING FILES] is displayed on the camcorder’s
LCD monitor.
If you are using a brand new memory card, you need to initialize the memory card with the camcorder first.
You may not be able to copy files from the memory card to the PC without doing so.

Still image files that are stored in a memory card can be copied to the PC and played back on the PC.
1Double-click the [My Computer] icon on the desktop.
If the camcorder is connected to the PC correctly, the
[Removable Disk] icon appears.
2Double-click the [Removable Disk] icon.
The folders in the memory card appear.
3Double-click the destination folder.
4Select the folder to be copied, and then drag and
drop that folder in the destination folder.
To copy still images: Copy the folder within the [DCIM]
folder.
The message [ACCESSING FILES] appears on the LCD
monitor of the camcorder, and the folder is copied from
the memory card to the PC.
NOTE:
Never disconnect the USB cable while the message
[ACCESSING FILES] is displayed on the camcorder’s LCD
monitor.
Still images
Use an application that can handle the JPEG file format. To view a still image, double-click the still image file
(extension “.jpg”).

Before loading or unloading memory cards or turning off the PC, first disconnect the USB cable and turn off
the camcorder.
When using Windows® 98/98SE
1Confirm that the message [ACCESSING FILES] is not currently displayed on the LCD monitor
of the camcorder.
If the message [ACCESSING FILES] is currently displayed, wait until it disappears before proceeding.
2Double-click the [My Computer] icon on the desktop.
If the camcorder is connected to the PC correctly, the [Removable Disk] icon appears.
3Right-click the [Removable Disk] icon in the [My Computer] window.
A menu appears.
4Click [Eject] in the menu.
The [Removable Disk] icon disappears.
If the icon does not disappear, wait for a while, and then proceed to step 5.
5Disconnect the USB cable.
If any message appears, click [OK].
6Set the Power Switch on the camcorder to “OFF”.
The camcorder turns off.

When using Windows® 2000/Me/XP
1Confirm that the message [ACCESSING FILES] is not currently displayed on the LCD monitor
of the camcorder.
If the message [ACCESSING FILES] is currently displayed, wait until it disappears before proceeding.
2Double-click the [Unplug or Eject Hardware] icon in the status
bar.
The [Unplug or Eject Hardware] or [Safely Remove Hardware] dialog
box appears.
3Select [USB Mass Storage Device] or [USB Disk], and then click [Stop].
The [Stop a Hardware device] dialog box appears.
4Click [OK].
The model name depends on the connected camcorder.
If a message indicating that the device can be safely removed appears, click [OK].
5Click [Close], and then disconnect the USB cable.
6Set the Power Switch on the camcorder to “OFF”.
The camcorder turns off.

[USB MODE] appears on the camcorder’s LCD monitor. The memory card icon appears on the desktop.
The name of the memory card icon is “untitled”. We recommend that you name the icon to
tell it from the other removable disks or folders.
4Double-click the memory card icon on the desktop.
The folders in the memory card appear.
The following folders are automatically created in the memory card. Different file types are stored in
different folders.
NOTES:

If the confirmation message appears, click [OK].
2Confirm that the message [ACCESSING FILES] is not currently displayed on the LCD
monitor of the camcorder.
If the message [ACCESSING FILES] is currently displayed, wait until it disappears before
proceeding.
3Disconnect the USB cable.
4Set the Power Switch on the camcorder to “OFF”.
The camcorder turns off.

To install Mr. Photo 3 and ImageFolio, follow the steps in “Software Installation (Windows®)” (pg. 4).
Follow the instructions on your screen as they appear.
For Macintosh:
To install Mr. Photo 3 and ImageFolio:
1Insert the program CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2Open the CD. Double-click on the Mr. Photo 3 or ImageFolio folder and then double-click the Installer
icon to start the setup program.
3Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
To uninstall Mr. Photo 3 and ImageFolio, drop the Mr. Photo 3 and ImageFolio folders into the [Trash]
icon.
