Make enough room for inserting
and removing the power plug!
Place the TV as close to the

the main power supply is not cut
off unless the power cord is
unplugged. The main power supply
for this TV is controlled by inserting

 The power lamp will blink for a while after inserting the plug into an AC
outlet. This is not a malfunction.
 When you turn on the TV with a remote, the Power lamp will blink until
you get a picture on the TV and the Power lamp will stay lit. When the
Power lamp is blinking the TV will not be able to receive any commands
from the remote.
 When “Power Lamp” is set to “Off”, the Power lamp will not light up.
For details, refer to “Power Lamp” (P. 30)
Note
 Peel off the protection films pasted on the glossy finish of the TV after the
TV has been placed properly. (P. 5)

Setting up your TV
Attach the stand to the TV (LT-32DR1BJ only)

Change the direction of TV

For LT-32DR1BJ, the stand will be supplied separately.
See the illustration below to attach the stand to the TV.

Handling the glossy finish of the TV

Be careful when handling the glossy finish of the TV
The glossy finish of the TV scratches easily.
 Protection films have been pasted onto the glossy finish of the TV
to prevent scratches. Peel off the films after the TV has been placed
properly.
 If the glossy finish gets dirty, clear the dust off the glossy finish first.
Then wipe softly with a soft cloth. If you do not clear the dust first, or you
wipe the glossy finish too hard, the glossy finish may be scratched.

Glossy finish

 To prevent scratches on the panel, lay a piece of soft cloth on an even
platform and place the TV onto it.

Install your TV
 Power requirements

 Connect the power cord only to a 220 - 240 V, 50 Hz AC outlet.
 When attaching the TV to the wall, use the optional JVC wall mounting unit
 Consult a qualified technician.
 See the included manual on mounting procedures.
 JVC assumes no responsibility for damage due to improper mounting.
 Mounting holes for wall mounting unit:
LT-32DR1BJ:
M5 x 4, 200 mm x 200 mm
Depth of screw hole is 7 mm from the surface of the TV.
LT-42DR1BJ:
M5 x 4, 400 mm x 200 mm
Depth of screw hole is 13 mm from the surface of the TV.
 Installation requirements
 Place the TV on the flat and stable location.
 To avoid overheating, ensure the unit has ample room.

Subscribe to a broadcasting company beforehand. A Viewing Card (B)
will be sent by the broadcasting company after subscribing to it. It may be
necessary for you to purchase a CAM (Conditional Access Module) (A) in
addition to the Viewing Card.
Consult your broadcasting company or retailer.

Power supply for the indoor aerial
When using an indoor aerial which requires external power, set “Antenna Power” to “On” in step 6 of “Initial settings” (P. 11).
The TV will supply DC 5 V, 50 mA (max) from the aerial socket through the cable to the aerial.
 Supplying power to outdoor and indoor aerials which does not require external power, may cause damage to the aerial.
If you are uncertain whether the aerial needs external power, select “Off”.
 Connect the aerial directly to the TV. When a recording device is connected between the aerial and the TV, power cannot be supplied to the aerial.
 Power is supplied to the aerial only when the TV is on.
 You can change the “Antenna Power” setting later. For details, refer to “Antenna Power” (P. 31).



Connecting external devices
Make sure all the devices and the TV are turned off.
The names of the devices shown in the following illustration are examples.
 Find the best connections that are possible with

 Please read the user manuals of each device before setting up.
 Connecting cables are not supplied with this TV.
 When using EXT-2 terminal, some USB device may not able to connect
properly depending on the outside dimensions.

If you accidentally cut the power cord

Attach a new plug following the steps below. If in doubt, contact your local
retailer.
Important
 Never connect to the larger terminal marked with an “E”, the safety earth
symbol “ ” or coloured green or green-and-yellow.
 The wires in the mains lead on this product are coloured with the following code:
• Blue: Neutral wire (connect to the black terminal, or one marked “N”)
• Brown: Live wire (connect to the red terminal, or one marked “L”)

Change the fuse in the plug
Open the plug as illustrated on the right.
 When replacing the fuse, always use a correctly
rated and approved type and re-fit the fuse cover
when finished.

 To record Digital / Analogue channels to external devices

Connect the external device to EXT-1 or EXT-2.
Select a programme you want to record and video / audio will output as
an analogue signal.

Connect the external device to EXT-1 or EXT-2.

Fuse

Auto in “Zoom”
When “Auto” is selected in Zoom, the aspect ratio will turn to the ratio
obtained from the information the TV received.
 The aspect ratio will turn to the ratio obtained from WSS (Wide Screen
Identification Signal), video signal, or control signal of the external
devices. Without receiving the aspect information, it will be the setting in
“4:3 Aspect Setting”. (P. 28)

 Set the aspect ratio to “Regular” or “Full”. The aspect ratio will not be
displayed correctly during recording or playback.
 You can not output from EXT-1 if you switch to EXT-1 from digital channel.
 1080p (1125p) signal is not supported, because they can not be
converted to composite signal.

Digital channels that cannot be watched on this TV
If a digital channel service uses new formats (such as DVB-H or MPEG4,
etc.), or MHP, it cannot be watched even though the channel name appears.
If the channel is selected, the picture will not appear and audio cannot be heard.
* This TV can receive digital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T) in the
following countries. Digital terrestrial broadcasting (DVB-T) reception in
other countries is not guaranteed.

Supported music formats for Photo Viewer

“Dolby Digital” output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT terminal
Some digital channels are broadcasted with “Dolby Digital” signals. In these
cases, “Dolby Digital” signals can be output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT
terminal.

 Sample rate

1. Connect an audio system with a “Dolby Digital” decoder to the DIGITAL
AUDIO OUT terminal.
Æ “Connecting external devices” (P. 8)

 Resolution

2. Change the “Digital Audio Output” setting from “PCM” to “Dolby Digital”.

What is “Eco Mode”?

What is “HDMI CEC”?

You can adjust this TV so that the screen automatically adjusts to the
optimum contrast of light and dark according to the brightness of your room.
This function reduces eyestrain and the power consumption of this TV.
 Set “Eco Mode” Æ “Eco Mode” (P. 31)
 Make sure not to block the Eco Sensor on front of the TV (P. 4)
 To fully reduce eyestrain and the power consumption of this TV. Set to
the following functions.

Smart Picture: On (P. 27)

HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) allows the TV to connect and
control multiple HDMI CEC enabled devices with a single remote. CEC
(Consumer Electronics Control) is an optional protocol used in HDMI.
 HDMI CEC on this TV is compliant with “High-Definition Multimedia
Interface Specification”.
 The TV does not support HDMI CEC functions that are not listed below.
 The TV does not guarantee to support use of all HDMI CEC enabled
devices.
 Devices that are not enabled to HDMI CEC cannot be controlled with this
TV.
 Control the TV using the HDMI CEC enabled device
 Turn the TV on and switch to the video source of the operating device.
 Switch to the video source of the operating device.
 Control the HDMI CEC enabled device using the TV
