Connect only to a 220-240 V, 50 Hz AC outlet. Make enough room for inserting and removing the power plug! Place the TV as close to the outlet as possible! Even if the TV’s power lamp is unlit, the main power supply is not cut off unless the power cord is unplugged. The main power supply for this TV is controlled by inserting or removing the power plug. Never cut or damage the power cord! Do not allow the TV to fall! Do not rest your elbows on, or allow children to hang from the TV. There is a risk that the TV will fall and cause injuries. The power buttons on the remote control and the TV unit cannot completely turn off the TV. (Make appropriate arrangements for bedridden people.) This is not a malfunction. When you turn on the TV with a remote, the Power lamp will blink until you get a picture on the TV and the Power lamp will stay lit. When the Power lamp is blinking the TV will not be able to receive any commands from the remote. When “Power Lamp” is set to “Off”, the Power lamp will not light up. For details, refer to “Power Lamp” (P. 30) Note Peel off the protection films pasted on the glossy finish of the TV after the TV has been placed properly. Setting up your TV Attach the stand to the TV (LT-32DR1BJ only) Change the direction of TV For LT-32DR1BJ, the stand will be supplied separately. See the illustration below to attach the stand to the TV. 1 Handling the glossy finish of the TV 2 Be careful when handling the glossy finish of the TV The glossy finish of the TV scratches easily. Protection films have been pasted onto the glossy finish of the TV to prevent scratches. Peel off the films after the TV has been placed properly. If the glossy finish gets dirty, clear the dust off the glossy finish first. Then wipe softly with a soft cloth. If you do not clear the dust first, or you wipe the glossy finish too hard, the glossy finish may be scratched. Glossy finish To prevent scratches on the panel, lay a piece of soft cloth on an even platform and place the TV onto it. Install your TV Power requirements Watch pay-TV digital channels Connect the power cord only to a 220 - 240 V, 50 Hz AC outlet. When attaching the TV to the wall, use the optional JVC wall mounting unit Consult a qualified technician. See the included manual on mounting procedures. JVC assumes no responsibility for damage due to improper mounting. Mounting holes for wall mounting unit: LT-32DR1BJ: M5 x 4, 200 mm x 200 mm Depth of screw hole is 7 mm from the surface of the TV. LT-42DR1BJ: M5 x 4, 400 mm x 200 mm Depth of screw hole is 13 mm from the surface of the TV. Installation requirements Place the TV on the flat and stable location. To avoid overheating, ensure the unit has ample room. Subscribe to a broadcasting company beforehand. A Viewing Card (B) will be sent by the broadcasting company after subscribing to it. It may be necessary for you to purchase a CAM (Conditional Access Module) (A) in addition to the Viewing Card. EXT-1 VCR / DVD recorder Power supply for the indoor aerial When using an indoor aerial which requires external power, set “Antenna Power” to “On” in step 6 of “Initial settings” (P. 11). The TV will supply DC 5 V, 50 mA (max) from the aerial socket through the cable to the aerial. Supplying power to outdoor and indoor aerials which does not require external power, may cause damage to the aerial. If you are uncertain whether the aerial needs external power, select “Off”. Connect the aerial directly to the TV. When a recording device is connected between the aerial and the TV, power cannot be supplied to the aerial. Power is supplied to the aerial only when the TV is on. You can change the “Antenna Power” setting later. For details, refer to “Antenna Power” (P. 31). Connecting external devices Make sure all the devices and the TV are turned off. The names of the devices shown in the following illustration are examples. The USB device that needs specific driver software is not supported. Supported file formats are “.jpg”, “.JPG”, “.mp3”, or “.MP3”. All your stored data should be backed up first as a precaution before connecting to the TV. Any loss or damage of data is not guaranteed. Depending on your stored file size, it can take extra time to display “Photo Viewer” page. When disconnecting the USB device, make sure to pull out gently. Folders with a “.” in their folder name will not be displayed. Does not support Progressive JPEG format. Etc. Troubleshooting Problem Analogue channels Basics I can’t turn it on! Is the power cord connected to the AC outlet correctly? The remote control doesn’t work! Are the batteries flat? Are you more than 7 meters away from the TV? Is the “MODE (TV, STB, BD/DVD, AUDIO)” set to “TV”? When viewing teletext, the TV menu bar does not appear. Depending on the stability of the signal, there may be a time lag when changing channels. To record video and audio from another external devices Connect the external device to EXT-1 or EXT-2. Select an external device you want to record and video / audio will output as an analogue signal. Note Fuse Auto in “Zoom” When “Auto” is selected in Zoom, the aspect ratio will turn to the ratio obtained from the information the TV received. The aspect ratio will turn to the ratio obtained from WSS (Wide Screen Identification Signal), video signal, or control signal of the external devices. Without receiving the aspect information, it will be the setting in “4:3 Aspect Setting”. (P. 28) Set the aspect ratio to “Regular” or “Full”. The aspect ratio will not be displayed correctly during recording or playback. You can not output from EXT-1 if you switch to EXT-1 from digital channel. 1080p (1125p) signal is not supported, because they can not be converted to composite signal. Digital channels that cannot be watched on this TV If a digital channel service uses new formats (such as DVB-H or MPEG4, etc.), or MHP, it cannot be watched even though the channel name appears.
