These limitsare designed to provide reasonable protectionagainst harmful interference in a residentialinstallation. This equipment generates uses andcan radiate radio frequency energy and, if notinstalled and used in accordance with theinstructions, may cause harmful interference toradio communications. However, there is noguarantee that interference will not occur in aparticular installation. If this equipment does causeharmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipmentoff and on, the user is encouraged to try to correctthe interference by one or more of the followingmeasures:- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.- Increase the separation between the equipmentand receiver.- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuitdifferent from that to which the receiver isconnected.-Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TVtechnician for help.RF exposure information (SAR):THIS DEVICE MEETS FCC LIMITS FOR EXPOSURETO RADIO WAVESYour mobile device is a radio transmitter andreceiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits forexposure to radio waves (radio frequencyelectromagnetic fields) adopted by the FederalCommunications Commission (FCC). These limitsinclude a substantial safety margin designed toassure the safety of all persons, regardless of age
24and health. The radio wave exposure guidelines use a unit ofmeasurement known as the Specific AbsorptionRate, or SAR. The SAR limit for mobile devices is1.6 W/kg.Tests for SAR are conducted using standardoperating positions with the device transmitting atits highest certified power level in all testedfrequency bands. The highest SAR values under theFCC guidelines for this device model are:Head SAR: 0.34 W/kg 1gBody SAR: 1.14 W/kg 1gDuring use, the actual SAR values for this deviceare usually well below the values stated above. This is because, for purposes of system efficiencyand to minimize interference on the network, theoperating power of your mobile device isautomatically decreased when full power is notneeded for the call. The lower the power output ofthe device, the lower its SAR value. Body-wornSAR testing has been carried out at a separationdistance of 1.5 cm. To meet RF exposure guidelinesduring body-worn operation, the device should bepositioned at least this distance away from thebody.Organizations such as the World HealthOrganization and the US Food and DrugAdministration have suggested that if people areconcerned and want to reduce their exposure, theycould use a hands-free accessory to keep thewireless device away from the head and bodyduring use, or reduce the amount of time spentusing the device. While there may be differencesbetween the SAR levels of various phones and atvarious positions, they all meet the governmentrequirement. The FCC has granted an Equipment
25Authorization for this model phone with all reportedSAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCCRF exposure guidelines.
