Before you can use your cordless telephone, you must charge theHANDSET for 12 hours. Failure to do so will require recharging of theBATTERY PACK more often.Place the HANDSET on the BASE UNIT for 12 hours.After 12 hours, remove the HANDSET from the BASE UNIT.When the phone rings, lift the HANDSET. The IN USE indicator will light.(Note: The HANDSET RINGER Switch must be in the "ON" position forringer to operate.)Start your conversation.To end your conversation, either press the TALK button or place theHANDSET on the BASE UNIT. If you place the HANDSET on the BASEUNIT charge cradle, you activate the automatic STANDBY feature.When the phone rings, press the any button to answer the call. The INUSE indicator will light.Start your conversation.To end your conversation, either press the TALK button or place theHANDSET on the BASE UNIT. If the HANDSET is placed on the BASEUNIT charge cradle, the automatic STANDBY feature is then activated.Press the TALK button. The IN USE indicator will light up.Listen for a dial tone.Dial the phone number.When finished with your call, press the TALK button again. The IN USEindicator will turn off.If you get a busy tone, press the TALK button to hang up.Press the TALK button again.Listen for a dial tone.Press the REDIAL button. This will automatically redial the last telephonenumber called.Be sure the BASE UNIT IN USE indicator is off and the HANDSET is inSTANDBY mode.Press the MEM button.Dial the number you want to store.Press the MEM button again.Dial the index number (0-9) where you want to store that number.You will hear one confirmation "beep".Write the name of the person you will be calling with that number next tothe corresponding index number on the Telephone Number Label.Repeat steps 1 through 6 for other telephone numbers. EXAMPLE: Tostore the number 555-1212 under the index number 1 on the keypad:The maximum number of digits that can be stored for anyphone number is 16 in PULSE or TONE mode. The maximum number ofdigits for mixed (TONE and PULSE in combination) dialing is 15. If you areusing a switchboard system to access an outside line (such as needing topress an 8 or 9 before dialing the number), press the RE/PA button to storea PAUSE.Press the TALK button.Press the MEM button.Press the index number for the number you have stored. Each time handset back to the base unit, the code is randomlyset to a new combination.Communication between HANDSET and BASE UNIT may not be possible inany of the following situations:1. After a power failure.2. After relocating the BASE UNIT by disconnecting the AC ADAPTOR.3. After replacing the HANDSET BATTERY PACK.To reset, place the HANDSET on the BASE UNIT for 2 to 5 seconds.If you are too far away from the BASE UNIT, the HANDSET emits "beep"sounds to warn you that the background noise level is too high for propercommunication between the HANDSET and the BASE UNIT. When you hearthis sound, you should move closer to the BASE UNIT to reduce the noise level.Otherwise, the call will automatically cut off.Your telephone can utilize a headset (not included) to be connected to yourHANDSET for you to enjoy a hands-free communication. When you plug in theheadset plug into the HEADSET JACK, it automatically mutes the microphoneand speaker of the HANDSET. This indicates that the BATTERY PACK needs to berecharged. Charge the battery pack at least once every 90 day of non-use toavoid battery failure. When the BATTERY PACK can no longer be charged,replacement of the BATTERY PACK will be necessary.To maximize your battery's life, we recommend that you periodically fullydischarge the battery, and then recharge it. To do this, unplug your phone linecord from the wall phone jack. Press the TALK button, and allow the handsetto remain on for 10 to 12 hours. Reconnect the phone cord to the wall phonejack return the handset to the base and allow it to fully charge for 12 hours. There arecertain difficulties in using radio frequencies with a cordless telephone. Whilethese are normal, the following could affect the operation of your system.Electrical pulse noise is present in most homes at one time or another. Thisnoise is most intense during electrical storms. Certain kinds of electricalequipment such as light dimmers, fluorescent bulbs, motors, and fans alsogenerate noise pulses. Because radio frequencies are susceptible to thesenoise pulses, you may occasionally hear them in your HANDSET. Generallythey are a minor annoyance and should bot be interpreted as a defect in yoursystem.Because radio frequency is used, the location of the BASE UNIT can affectoperating range. Try several locations in your home or business and pick theone that gives you the clearest signal to the HANDSET.Electronic circuits activate a relay to connect the cordless telephone to yourtelephone line. These electronic circuits operate in the radio frequencyspectrum. While several protection circuits are used to prevent unwantedsignals, there may be periods when these unwanted signals enter the BASEUNIT. You may hear clicks or hear the relay activate while you are not using theHANDSET. If the interference occurs frequently, it can be minimized oreliminated by lowering the height of your BASE UNIT ANTENNA or byrelocating the BASE UNIT . You can check for interference before selecting thefinal BASE UNIT location by plugging in the phone.This cordless telephone uses radio communication between the HANDSETand the BASE UNIT and may not ensure privacy of communication. Otherdevices, including other cordless telephones, may interference with theoperation of this cordless telephone or cause noise during operation. Units notcontaining coded access may be accessed by other radio communicationsystems.
