5 SAFETY INSTRUCTION  Please observe the following precautions to prevent fire, personal injury, and product damage:  Read Instructions: All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Wireless Monitor is operated.  Retain Instructions: The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.  Heed Warnings: All warnings on the 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Wireless Monitor and operating instructions should be adhered to.  Follow Instructions: All operating instructions should be followed.  Water and Moisture: This product is designed for the indoor use only. The unit should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the unit. The item should not be used near water; for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub in a wet basement, of near a swimming pool, etc.  Ventilation: The 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Wireless Monitor should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings, or placed in an enclosed installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings.  Heat: The 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Monitor should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances that produce heat. No naked flames sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. 6 Power Source: Besides batteries operated, the 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Monitor should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in this operating instruction (AC/DC adaptors: 9V 500mA Centre Positive).  Cleaning: Use a dry cotton cloth to keep the 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Monitor free of dust. Do not use water!  Non-Use Periods: Always remove the batteries from the Camera and the Monitor battery packs or unplug the AC adaptors from wall outlets during long periods of non-use.  Object and Liquid Entry: Care should be taken so that objects do not fall into, and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through the openings.  Damage Requiring Services: The 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Monitor should be serviced by qualified service personnel when: a. Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the products; or b. The units have been exposed to rain; or c. The units do not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in its performance; or d. The units have been dropped or the enclosure damaged.  Caution: a. This product cannot replace responsible adult supervision of a child. You should personally check your child’s activity at regular intervals. b. Never use this 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Wireless Monitor to a degree where your life or health or the life or health of others or integrity of property depends on its function! Manufacturer will not accept any responsibility or claim for death and injury of any person or lost and damage of any property due to malfunction or misuse of the product.  Battery: a. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. b. Please dispose of old, defective batteries in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with the relevant legislation.
7 STATEMENT ON REGULATION  This product is designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generate, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:  z Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. z Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. z Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. z Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.  Operation with non-approved equipment or unshielded cables is likely to result in interference to radio or TV reception. The user is cautioned that changes and modifications made to the equipment without the approval of manufacturer could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.    8 INSTALLATION  INSTALLING BATTERIES (EXCEPT JY-229TC)  Camera: 1. Remove the battery cover at the bottom or back of the unit. 2. Insert AA size batteries according to marking in the battery compartment. 3. Align the battery cover tabs with the camera tab holes and replace the cover.  Monitor: 1. Remove the battery cover at the back of the unit. 2. Insert AA size batteries according to the marking of the battery compartment. 3. Align the battery cover tabs with the monitor tab holes and replace the cover.   PLEASE NOTE: 1. Do not mix old and new batteries. 2. Do not mix alkaline, standard or rechargeable batteries 3. Remove the batteries during long period of non-use. 4. (European Version only) Due to specially designed circuitry for safety. Only specially designed rechargeable battery can be recharged. Some of the package may have this special battery included. Please contact your dealer if you have any queries.  INSTALLING AC/DC ADAPTOR:  1. Install the plug of AC adaptor to the DC jack of the unit. 2. Plug the AC adaptor into a standard wall AC power outlet. 3. Switch on the unit with the power ON/OFF switch. 4. The power indicator will be illuminated.  Warning: Improper use of adaptor may cause malfunction of the units. Please consult your dealer for any queries.  Please note that the service life of batteries is limited. Therefore, when monitoring over long periods and, in particular, overnight, it’s recommended to use AC adaptors for both camera and monitor unit.
9 Use only the AC adaptors supplied with the package.  Before plug in AC adaptors, please make sure only rechargeable NiMH batteries [or no battery] are inside the battery compartment.  Special Note for JY-229TC Switch the Channel Selection switch at the bottom of the unit to any one of the 4 channels to turn on the unit.  MOUNTING THE CAMERA  The Camera unit JY-229TC is designed for mounting on the ceiling, or on to the wall, or simply placed on table.  To mount the Camera unit:  1. Take the Camera Mounting Plate off from the bottom of the Camera unit. 2. Secure the Mounting Plate at your decided position by using the 3 mounting screws supplied with the product. The word FRONT faces the front view of the Camera unit. 3. Insert the DC plug through the Wire Through Hole of the Mounting Plate. 4. Sandwich the wire between the Wire Positioning Clips. 5. Insert the DC plug into the DC jack at the bottom of the Camera unit. 6. Line-up the Wire Positioning Clip with the Wire Through Hole of the Mounting Plate. 7. Turn the Camera unit clockwise to lock the Camera unit securely into position. 8. If the Camera unit is mounted on the ceiling, turn the Lens Compartment approximately 60 degrees vertically to receive a right side up image at the Monitor unit. 10 RECHARGING THE UNIT  ( NOT APPLICABLE FOR JY-229TC & JY-238T)  Camera and monitor of your 2.4GHz Color LCD A/V Wireless Monitor have built-in battery recharging circuit. Make sure only rechargeable NiMH batteries are inside the battery compartment before plug in AC/DC adaptors.  The unit will be in recharging mode with the AC/DC adaptor plug in.  JY-238R Monitor unit, can be recharged by either plug in the AC/DC adaptor or place on the Recharging Base (optional), which has the AC/DC adaptor connected.    The Recharging Base will have the green indicator on while the AC/DC adaptor is connected. The indicator will turn to orange color while recharging or the monitor is switched on.
11 CAMERA OPERTATION  Power ON/OFF  Use the Power ON/OFF sliding switch to turn ON/OFF the unit.    For JY-229TC, switch the Channel Selection switch at the bottom of the unit to any one of the 4 channels to turn on the unit.  Channel Selection  There are 4 channels for selection in order to avoid interference from other signal sources.  Press the channel switching button at the front of the camera (JY-238T & JY278T) or use the channel selection switch at the bottom of JY-229TC to select a channel.  A/V Input  This feature allow user to have an optionally Analog A/V (Audio-Video) input to the Camera unit and transmit this A/V signal to the Monitor unit per the Voice Activation option selected by the user.  The A/V Input jack locates on the left side (JY-238T) and back (JY-278T) of the unit. Use the AV cord to connect the source of an AV signal (e.g. DVD) to the unit.  Voice Activation  To Activate: Select the AUTO option by the Voice Activation switch on the left side (JY-238T) and right side (JY-278T) of the Camera unit.  On JY-278T, sensitivity of this feature can be adjusted. The Higher the sensitivity the Lower is the sound level required to trigger the signal transmission.  When the sound level of the unit’s surrounding area reaches the preset level, the Camera will transmit the image captured to the Monitor.  When the surrounding sound level is below the preset level, A/V signal input to the Camera will be transmitted. No signal will be transmitted if AV 12 signal input is not used.  NOTE: LCD on the Monitor unit will be automatically switched off if no signal is received from the Camera  To Deactivate: Select the CAMERA or AV option by the Voice Activation switch.   The Camera will only transmit CAMERA signal continuously when the CAMERA option is selected.  The Camera will only transmit the AV input signal continuously when the AV option is selected.  Automatic Infra-Red Night Vision  The infra-red night vision of the camera is designed to allow the camera pick up pictures during darkness or periods of very low levels of light. The function will switch on automatically when the level of light is low.  Only objects placed within 6ft/2m will be monitored.     MONITOR OPERTATION  Power ON/OFF  Use the volume and ON/OFF switch on the side of the unit to turn on the unit.  Channel Selection  Press the Channel Switching Button at the front of the monitor to a channel with optimized clear image and sound. Channels are indicated by LED lights labeled with letters A, B, C or D.  Automatic Channel Scan  This option allows the Monitor unit to scan through all 4 channels automatically and stops at each channel for about 5 seconds. Press the Channel Switching Button until the LED light labeled with AUTO is turned on and starts blinking. Images from different Camera units on different
13 channels can then be seen on the Monitor unit.  LCD On/Off  This power saving feature is located on the side of the monitor. When the monitor is switched to LCD “off” position and the camera is remained power on, there will be no picture on the monitor screen. The unit is using smaller amount of power and is still operational. You can still hear the sound signal that captured from the monitoring area. The monitor will resume working with a clear picture when the LCD is switched back to “on”.  Brightness Control  The brightness of the LCD can be adjusted by the 2 Brightness Control buttons on the side of the Monitor unit. (+) to increase and (-) to decrease the brightness of the LCD.  Audio/Visual Output Link  An additional security feature of this 2.4GHz Color LCD Wireless Monitor is you can link the monitor to a VCR recorder for recording what ever the camera captures. Also, you can link to a television set that has a “Picture-In-Picture” feature that allows you to take a glance to the monitoring area all the while watching your favorite TV program.  The A/V Output jack locates at the left side of the monitor. This needs to be connected to the Audio and Video input jacks of your VCR or TV sets with the AV cord. 14 TROUBLESHOTTING  Problem  Possible Cause – things to do/check No reception  z Unit has not been switched on. z AC/DC adaptor has not been connected. z Out of Battery (check Led indicator: Full Power - Green; Low Power - Orange) z The camera may not be transmitting. (power is not on or is in voice activation mode) z Wrong Channel (Please note the monitor will return to Channel A automatically after power off)  No picture display but can hear sound z Check if the LCD on/off switch is turned to on. z Low Power (Check LED indicator: Full Power - Green; Low Power - Orange)  Battery cannot be recharged z AC/DC adaptor has not been connected. z Non-rechargeable battery has been used. z (European Version only) Normal Rechargeable battery cannot be charged due to special designed circuitry. Only special designed rechargeable battery can be recharged. Some of the package may have this special battery included. Please contact your dealer if you have any queries.   No transmission  z Unit has not been switched on. z AC/DC adaptor has not been connected. z Out of Battery (check Led indicator: Full Power - Green; Low Power - Orange) z Check if the voice activation mode is switched on.
