You can playback music on the iPod easily from the TV. You can enjoy music on your iPod while watching a TV program. You can synchronize your iPod on the Dock while your PC is connected to the TV. ■ Modes available for your iPod The following modes are available for use with your iPod when connected to your TV. TCON Mode PCON Mode • In this mode, you can operate your iPod through the TV screen. • The iPod menu is displayed on the TV screen so that you can operate the iPod using the remote control supplied with the TV. • In TCON Mode, the JVC logo is displayed on the iPod (except for iPod touch). • Use the remote control to operate your iPod. • In this mode, you can operate your iPod through the iPod screen. • In PCON Mode, a message is displayed, prompting you to operate using the iPod screen. • You can operate your iPod using either the remote control or the iPod itself. • Some functions such as Photo Viewer can be operated only in PCON Mode. iPod menu is displayed on the TV screen. RM-C1480 TV When using an iPod touch, the JVC logo is not displayed on the iPod screen. ■ To exit the iPod Mode Press iPod to exit iPod Mode. When the iPod is detached from the Dock, the iPod Mode is forced to finish and the message “iPod Not Found” is displayed on the TV screen. ■ Charging your iPod While your iPod is connected to the Dock, you have the ability to recharge your iPod. Also, you can recharge your iPod while the TV is on standby mode. 4 How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature ■ [TCON Mode] - Menu navigation You can browse the content on your iPod on the TV similarly to how it is done on the iPod itself. Press to select an item, to move to the next page then press OK to confirm the selection. In iPod mode, you can use the picture and sound menu of the TV. ■ [TCON Mode] - Music Shuffle Play All tracks on the iPod are randomly played. 6 When “Music Shuffle Play” is selected, the shuffle setting is autmatically set to “Song Shuffle”. How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature ■ [TCON Mode] - iTV Mode In iTV Mode, you can enjoy music on your iPod while watching TV or video program. To switch to iTV Mode iTV Press while playing music in TCON Mode. To switch the sound from the TV to iPod and vice versa, press TV . Press to select an item then press OK . JVC iPod classic(2) Settings Shuffle Off Repeat Audiobook Off Normal 1 Shuffle Off – Off Songs – Plays all tracks in the selected catagory at random. Albums – Selects an album on the iPod at random and plays the album back in normal track order. Repeat Off – Off One – Plays one track repeatedly. All – Plays all tracks repeatedly. Audiobook Slower – Plays an audiobook at a slower speed. Normal – Plays an audiobook at a normal speed. Faster – Plays an audiobook at a faster speed. ■ [TCON Mode] - Now Playing Release pausing of the music track. Selectable only when paused. 9 How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature ■ PCON Mode In this mode, you can operate the iPod using it’s screen, or you can perform basic functions of the iPod using the TV remote. Some iPod operations may or may not be possible depending on your iPod. Refer to the table of compatible iPods. See page 13. To switch to PCON Mode Press PCON GUIDE in TCON Mode. To enjoy photos on the iPod 1 – Switch to PCON Mode. See page 10. 2 – Select “Photos”. 3 – Select a photo and press OK to start the slideshow (when using the iPod touch, use the iPod touch itself). • You can only view photos on the iPod in PCON Mode only. • Refer to your iPod users manual for changing the slideshow settings. To enjoy photos on other USB devices You can enjoy music on the iPod while connected to the Dock and view photos from another USB device. For operation details, refer to your TV users manual. 10 • Operate only while viewing a normal TV program or playback from an external device (DVD Player, Cable Box, Blu-ray, etc.). • The remote control works only for photos on the USB device. To control the iPod, use the iPod itself. How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature ■ Sync Mode When you have a PC with iTunes installed and is connected to this TV using a USB cable, you can synchronize your iPod on the Dock using iTunes. To switch to Sync Mode 4 – Press MENU 1 – Connect a PC to the TV using a USB cable. 2 – Turn on the PC and the TV. 3 – Insert the iPod onto the Dock on the TV. Picture Display TV Sound Power Setting Plug In Menu Time Zone D.S.T. Language and select “Setting” N “Sync Mode” N“Start” to start synchronization. * During synchronization, a message appears on the iPod screen to indicate the synchronization is in progress. In Sync Mode, a TV program or visual source other than the iPod is displayed on the TV screen. • • • • • • When updating the iPod firmware, connect the iPod directly to the PC. When the PC is turned off, Sync Mode can not be selected. iTunes must be installed on the PC in order to synchronize the iPod. In Sync Mode, the illumination on the Dock flashes slowly. See the progress indicator in iTunes or the iPod to check the progress of the syncronization. In Sync Mode, you can not play any content on the iPod. Exit Sync Mode to play your content. • You might not be able to perform the syncronization process with some PCs because of inadequate power being supplied to the USB port or for other reasons. 11 How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature To exit Sync Mode 2 – Press MENU 1 – Confirm syncronization has finished. and select “Setting” N“Sync Mode” N “Exit”. 3 – The confirmation message appears and the TV exits Sync Mode. • In Sync Mode, do not detach the iPod or USB cable. • In Sync Mode, you can not play any content on the iPod. Exit Sync Mode to play your content. ■ On Timer You can use the timer feature to turn the TV on and start playing music on the iPod anytime you want. In this case, the TV is in PCON Mode. To set the On Timer 1 – Press TIMER to display the Timer menu. 2 – Set the time you want the TV to turn on. 3 – Select “iPod” for Input. 4 – Connect the iPod to the Dock with the desired track set to pause. 5 – Turn off the TV. Timer On Timer 0h 0m Input iPod Sleep Timer 0 M • When you have not selected a track to play when the TV is turned on, the iPod will pick a track randomly depending on it’s settings. • The On Timer feature can not be used for visual content stored on the iPod. • If “iPod” is selected for Input without connecting the iPod to the TV, the TV turnes on to the last channel you had selected after the time you set has passed. 12 How to enjoy your TeleDock Feature ■ Error Messages Error Message Causes/Remedies Communication failed Check connection Cause : This appears when a connection error has occured. Remedy: Re-install the iPod to the dock and try again. Cause : Remedy: Cause : Remedy: File not found This appears when there is no file to play on the iPod. Import playable tracks/files to the iPod to play. This appears when you press iPod button with no iPod in the Dock. Connect an iPod to the iPod Dock. Cause : This appears when the iPod is removed from the Dock in iPod Mode. Remedy: Press iPod to exit iPod Mode before detaching the iPod from the Dock. iPod not found Cause : This appears when the iPod is not installed properly on the iPod Dock. Remedy: Re-install the iPod to the dock and try again. Cause : This appears when you switch to iPod Mode before the iPod starts up. Is it possible to display the lyrics of the tracks on the TV? No, it is not. Is it possible to change the screen appearance? No, it is not. Is it possible to turn off the screen? You can turn off screen indication by switching to PCON Mode, however, the backlight of the TV remains lit. No sound comes out during Menu navigation. During navigation, playback is not available. To restart playback, select “Now Playing.” Is it possible to utilize functions concerning “Genius” when using a “Genius” compatible iPod? No, it is not. Is it possible to listen to TV sound? Yes. Press Is it possible to connect an external component? Yes, you can. Is it possible to turn off the track information? Yes. Press Is it possible to see Closed Caption? In iTV Mode, it is not. Is it possible to control the transparency of the track information indication? In iTV Mode, the indication cannot be made transparent regardless of the setting. Is it possible to change the aspect ratio? Yes. Shrinking the screen is also available. Title is displayed as ““. Other languages than English, French and Spanish are displayed as ““. Part of the title is not displayed on the TV. If the information can not be displayed entirely, “•••” is displayed at the end. How is the picture quality? It depends on the picture quality on the iPod. What if the playback reaches the end? The next video in the selected category will be played back. Playback content is depends on your iPod. Can not select Video Play for iPod touch (it is displayed in grey). The firmware 1.xx of the iPod touch is not compatible with Video playback in TCON Mode. Update the firmware (ver. 2.xx or later) or switch to PCON Mode. TCON Mode Music Play Music Play (iTV Mode) Video Play Action PCON Mode TV button to select sound. DISPLAY button. Try another USB terminal or USB cable. Cannot perform synchronization. Synchronization may not proceed when the iPod battery is exhausted. Charge the iPod before operation. Is it possible to update iPod firmware through the TV? No, it is not. Connect iPod to the PC directly to update it. Is it possible to check synchronization progress? Yes. Check it on iTunes or iPod screen. Is it possible to stop synchronization? Basically, it is not. If you want to stop, operate iTunes on the PC. iPod is detached by mistake during synchronization. Perform synchronization again. USB cable is disconnected by mistake during synchronization. Connect the USB cable again, then perform synchronization again. Is the iPhone compatible with the TV? No, it is not. Some tracks are skipped during Shuffle play. The tracks set to skip on iTunes setting are not played. Is it possible to charge iPod while the TV is on standby? Yes, it is. Is it possible to play music while the TV is on standby? No, it is not. Is it possible to change “Picture” and “Sound” setting? Yes. Use the TV menu. Video contents cannot be played when using “On Timer”. Only music playback is possible for “On Timer”. Is it possible to turn off the illumination? Yes. Select High/Low/Off on the TV menu. Is it possible to enjoy USB Photo Viewer while playing music? Yes, it is. Operate iPod while using Photo Viewer. Make sure to operate iPod itself for playing music. Is it possible to turn off the backlight of the iPod? • In TCON Mode, it turns off after a while. (It is necessary to change settings for some model of the iPod) • In PCON Mode, you can turn it off by changing settings on the iPod. Is it possible to update the TV software? No, it is not. When enjoying iPod using “Sleep Timer”, an iPod track is not selectable for On Timer. When enjoying iPod using “Sleep Timer”, you cannot set a track for “On Timer”. In such a case, selection of the starting track depends on the setting on iPod. Is it possible to turn off the illumination of the Dock while using “On Timer”?
