USE AND CA AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER OR SPACE AVABLABLE FOR ONE An automatic ice maker keeps a constant supply of ice available without ice trays to fill or spill. A water line must be hooked up to the refrigerator before the ice maker can make ice. If there is no water line to your refrigerator, you may purchase copper tubing kit 978567° tf you did net buy an automatic ice maker with your new Kenmore, one can be added in most models at any time. This model takes ice maker 46-8085. A freezer shelf is required for all models that have an ice maker. If you need a freezer shelf, order number 176582., An automatic ice maker is easy to install yourself or you may contact your local Sears store or service center for installation. A taste and odor filter (number 42-3474) is recommended and is available from most Sears Retail or Catalog outlets.. tf you did buy an automatic ice maker, turn it off until you hook up the water line. To do this, raise the signal arm, To start your ice maker, lower the signal arm° NOTE: After the water line is hooked up it may take up to 24 hours to make ice. At first the ice may be discolored or have an off flavor because of new plumbing connections,. Throw away these first few batches of ice.. I FOR AIR ATION OUTLET Do not block air outlet. Once it is filled the bucket refills itself as you use ice, Shake the bucket gently each day to keep the ice from sticking together° Ice may develop an off flavor and color, or shrink and stick together, if kept too long.. DO NOT USE YOUR REFRIGERATOR FOR STORAGE OF FLAMMABLE UQUIDS. REVERSING DOOR SWBNG Your refrigerator is equipped with convertible hinges. The door hinges can be changed you wish. An envelope containing extra hole plugs is included with some models. TOOLS REQUIRED: Turn the Cold Control #2 Phillips to OFE screwdriver, Remove 1_ putty knife, adjustable to the opposite side if wrench. food, juices and any loose articles from the doors. BE SURE TO SAVE THE SCREWS, HINGE, SHIM AND WASHER FOR REtNSTALLATION. 2_ Open the freezer door and lift it off the center hinge. Washer g I Hinge Pin --_ I Hinge or 3, With the refrigerator door closed, remove center hinge pin. (Note arrangement of upper and lower washers on hinge pin for reassembly.) Open lower door and lift it off lower hinge. Remove two screws from center hinge. SAVE THE HINGE, PIN, SCREWS, SPACER (some models) AND WASHERS FOR USE LATER. 4_ Remove hinge pin (some models), hinge and the two screws attaching the lower hinge. Save the h_nge pin and shim (some models), and washer for reassemb!_y later. REVERSING DOOR SW_NG (continued) ' _*---Door f _---Screw 5_ Remove the screws from center hinge holes and reinstall in the opposite set of holes. 64 Stop l Plug Remove door stop and small plug (some models) from bottom of lower door and reinstall in opposite side° Screw Plugs / Screws 7_, On models with handles mounted as shown, remove and save handle screws. Remove screws and hole plugs from corresponding holes on opposite side of doors. Install the handle that was originally on upper door to opposite side on lower door (as illustrated) and handle from lower door to opposite side of upper door. Seal original handle holes with screws and hole plugs you removed from opposite side& 8_ On models with handles mounted on sides of doors, remove and save handle screws. Remove hole plugs from corresponding holes on opposite side of door& Install the handle on opposite side of door& Seal original handle screw holes with hole plugs you removed from opposite sides. REVERSING DOOR SWING (continued) Washer I _f_Hinge Pin Lower Hinge Spacer or 9_ 10. Attach center hinge with washer and spacer (some models) to cabinet as shown. Do not tighten. 11o Install lower door on lower hinge pin. Align door with edge of cabinet, The gasket magnet will hold the door in place. Using the original washer on bottom pin of center hinge, install pin in top of lower door. Using a putty knife, remove the black plastic plug (not shown) from front of base and reinstall in the opposite set of lower hinge holes. Assemble lower hinge to cabinet, being sure to use the same shim (some models) between the hinge and cabinet. Install hinge pin (some models, top illustration) in opposite hinge hole from which it was removed. Install the washer on the lower hinge pin. Tighten hinge screws until the hinge touches cabinet. Do not over tighten screws. Hinges will have to remain loose against cabinet to align door° Bearing _;_--Door I {_--Screw 12. Remove models) reinstall Stop Plug door stop and small plug (some from bottom of upper door and on opposite side. 13. Remove plug from top hinge bearing door and reinstall on opposite sider of upper REVERSING DOOR SWING (continued) _t_tasher_ Center b,inge I!-- 14,. Remove screws (or plugs) in the hinge holes in the top of the cabinet and reinstall in the opposite set of holes, 15, I6. Assemble upper hinge to top of cabinet and door° (Use opposite set of holes.) Do not tighten screws,, Align upper door with lower door so there is a parallel gap. Adjust door to cabinet so gasket seals but does not bind. Tighten upper and lower hinge screws, Door Seal: Check door seal by closing the door on a 2,5 cm (1 inn) wide strip of paper. A slight drag should be noticed when the paper is pulled out from between the gasket and the cabinet° Repeat around all four sides of door. tf door does not seal, readjust upper or lower hinge as necessary. If door still does not seat, call your Dealer or Service Agency° Service on the door seal after reversing doors is not included in the warranty. Additional adjustment may be necessary after loading the door shelves. 17.
