This supplement is instructions for field fabrication and
installation of blowoff shields and a duct flange. Use this
supplement with CH33 coils that are installed in the left to
right hand discharge position,
The blowoff shields keep water from the coil inside of the
drain pan. The blowoff shields also protects the duct work
from water.
Right-hand Air Discharge with Connection Duct - The
coil must have a 3/4" slope from the rear of the cabinet
to the drain. The coil must be in the left to right
configuration connection on the service access side of the
furnace. The field-provided connection duct goes between
the furnace and the coil. Field-provided screws secure the
coil casing, connection duct, and the furnace together.

Blowoff Shield:
Insert and rotate it
back and down into
the drain pan

Fabricating the Blowoff Shields
1 - Cut light gauge sheet metal into the dimensions shown
in figure 1.
2 - The blowoff shield must have a 90 ° angle where it is
bent. See figure 1.

Installing the Blowoff Shields Inside the Coil Cabinet
1 - Insert the short end of the shields (2.5" 64 mm) into the
space between the cabinet flange and the coil end
covers, See figure 2.
2 - Force the shield down into the corner of the drain pan.
3 - Slope the coil cabinet toward the drain connection. The
slope must be a minimum of 3/4" (19 mm) high, See
figure 3,

Fabricating the Duct Flange
1- Cut and bend light gauge sheet metal into the
dimensions shown in figure 4. The flange will be in the
shape of a Z
2 - To make the flange will fit properly, you may have to cut
notches as per the example in figure 4,
Attaching the Duct Flange
1 - Align the front edge of the Z-shaped duct flange with
the cabinet flange. See figure 4,
2 - Fasten the Z-shaped flange to the cabinet flange with
field provided #8 X 1/2" sheet metal screws.
3 - See table one for the correct size of the duct flange,
