Press and hold the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD LOCKED" should appear. You can unlock the OSD controls at any time by pushing the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD UNLOCKED" should appear. SUPER ENERGY SAVING Button Use this button to enter SUPER ENERGY SAVING menu.For more information.(See p.15) 3D 3D display settings.(See p.14) AUTO When adjusting your display settings, always press the AUTO button on the MONITOR SETUP OSD. (Only supported in Analog Mode) The best display mode 1920 x 1080 (D2242P/D2542P) VOLUME (Only HDMI mode) Adjust the volume of the Monitor set.(See p.14) INPUT You can choose the input signal. yy When two input signals are at least are connected, you can select the input signal (D-SUB/DVI/HDMI) you want. yy When only one signal is connected, it is automatically detected. The default setting is D-SUB. EXIT Exit the OSD(On Screen Display). (Power Button) Turns the power on or off. Power Indicator The power indicator stays blue if the display is running properly (On Mode). If the display is in Sleep Mode, the power indicator blinks blue. Your monitor may differ from the items shown in the picture. Do not carry the product upside down holding yy only the stand base. The product may fall and get damaged or injure your foot. Rear ENG ENGLISH 1 Lift and tilt the Monitor set into its upright 8 ASSEMBLING AND PREPARING Using the Kensington security system ENGLISH ENG The Kensington security system connector is located at the back of the Monitor set. For more information of installation and using, refer to the manual supplied with the Kensington security system or visit http://www.kensington.com . Mounting on a wall For proper ventilation, allow a clearance of 10 cm on each side and from the wall. Detailed instructions are available from your dealer, see the optional Tilt Wall Mounting Bracket Installation and Setup Guide. Connect the Kensington security system cable between the Monitor set and a table. 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm 10 cm NOTE The Kensington security system is optional. You can obtain it from most electronics stores. When you install the Monitor set using a wall mounting interface (optional parts), attach it carefully so it will not drop. Otherwise electric shock may occur. If you install the Monitor set on a ceiling or yy slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury. Use only an authorized LG wall mount yy and contact the local dealer or qualified personnel. Do not over tighten the screws as this may yy cause damage to the Monitor set and void your warranty. Use only screws and wall mounts that yy meet the VESA standard. Any damages or injuries by misuse or using an improper accessory are not covered by the warranty. NOTE Use the screws that are listed on the VESA yy standard screw specifications. The wall mount kit will include an installation yy manual and necessary parts. The wall mount bracket is optional. You can yy obtain additional accessories from your local dealer. The length of screws may differ depending yy on the wall mount. Be sure to use the proper length. For more information, refer to the yy instructions supplied with the wall mount. ENG ENGLISH VESA (A x B) Standard screw Number of screws Wall mount bracket (optional) 10 USING THE MONITOR SET USING THE MONITOR SET ENGLISH ENG Connecting to a PC DVI-D connection Your Monitor set supports Plug & Play*. yy *Plug & Play: A PC recognizes a connected device that users connect to a PC and turn on, without device configuration or user intervention. Transmits a digital video signal from your PC to the Monitor set. Connect the PC and the Monitor set with a DVI cable as shown in the following illustrations. D-SUB D-SUB connection DVI-D HDMI Transmits analog video from your PC to the Monitor set. Connect the PC and the Monitor set with the supplied D-sub 15 pin signal cable as shown in the following illustrations. D-SUB DVI-D HDMI DVI OUT HDMI connection Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC or A/V to the Monitor set. Connect the PC or A/V and the Monitor set with the HDMI cable as shown in the following illustrations. RGB OUT D-SUB DVI-D HDMI NOTE When using a D-Sub signal input cable yy connector for Macintosh HDMI OUT Mac adapter yy For Apple Macintosh use, a separate plug adapter is needed to change the 15 pin high density (3 row) D-SUB VGA connector on the supplied cable to a 15 pin 2 row connector. HDMI OUT NOTE If you use HDMI PC, it can cause compatibility yy problem. USING THE MONITOR SET CAUTION NOTE When you want to use two PC in our Monitor, yy please connect the signal cable(D-SUB/ DVI-D/HDMI) respectively in Monitor set. If you turn the Monitor set on while it is cold, yy the screen may flicker. This is normal. Some red, green, or blue spots may appear yy on the screen. This is normal. Self Image Setting Function Press the power button on the front panel to turn the power on. When monitor power is turned on, the "Self Image Setting" Function is executed automatically. (Only supported in Analog Mode) NOTE "Self Image Setting" Function. yy This function provides the user with optimal display settings.When the user connects the monitor for the first time, this function automatically adjusts the display to optimal settings for individual input signals.(Only supported in Analog Mode) ‘AUTO’ Function. yy When you encounter problems such as blurry screen, blurred letters, screen flicker or tilted screen while using the device or after changing screen resolution, press the AUTO function button to improve resolution. (Only supported in Analog Mode) ENG ENGLISH Connect the signal yy input cable and tighten it by turning the screws clockwise. Do not press the screen with your finger for yy a long time as this may result in temporary distortion on the screen. Avoid displaying a fixed image on the yy screen for a long period of time to prevent image burn. Use a screensaver if possible. 11 12 CUSTOMIZING SETTINGS CUSTOMIZING SETTINGS ENGLISH ENG Accessing The Main Menus 1 Press any button on the front of the Monitor set to display the MONITOR SETUP OSD menu. 2 Press the desired menu item. 3 Change the value of the menu item by pressing the buttons on the front of the Monitor set. To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button. 4 Select EXIT to leave the OSD menu. Monitor set Buttons MENU (See p.13) Sets the screen options. AUTO (See p.5) Optimizes the resolution. EXIT Exits the OSD menu. MONITOR SETUP MENU 3D (See p.14) Sets the 3D mode. 3D AUTO VOLUME INPUT VOLUME (See p.14) Sets the volume. NOTE Different menu items are enabled depending on the type of input signal. D-SUB / DVI Mode: MENU, 3D, AUTO, INPUT, EXIT yy HDMI Mode: MENU, 3D, VOLUME, INPUT, EXIT yy EXIT INPUT Sets the external input. 13 CUSTOMIZING SETTINGS Customizing Settings MENU 1 Press any button on the front of the Monitor set to display the MONITOR SETUP OSD menu. 2 Press the MENU button to display the options in the OSD menu. 3 Set the options by pressing the buttons on the front of the Monitor set. 4 Select EXIT to leave the OSD menu. To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button. Menu BRIGHTNESS Analog ● Digital HDMI ● ● ORIGINAL RATIO Description Adjusts the brightness of the screen. WIDE Switch to full screen mode according to input image signal. 3D COLOR EFFECT ● ● ● ● ● ● COLOR TEMP ORIGINAL Change the input image signal ratio to original. * This function works only if input resolution is lower than Monitor set ratio (16:9). The picture quality is optimized at the 3D mode. PRESET ● ● ● Select the screen color. yy WARM: Set the screen to warm color temperature (more red). yy MEDIUM: Set the screen to medium color temperature. yy COOL: Set the screen to cool color temperature (More blue). USER yy RED: Set your own red color levels. yy GREEN: Set your own green color levels. yy BLUE: Set your own blue color levels. CONTRAST ● ● BLACK LEVEL (Only supported in HDMI mode) ● Adjusts the contrast of the screen. ● You can set the offset level. If you select 'HIGH', the screen will be bright and if you select ‘LOW’, the screen will be dark. yy Offset: As the criteria for video signal, it is the darkest screen the monitor can show. Changes the menu language. LANGUAGE ● ● ● SUPER ENERGY SAVING ● ● ● FACTORY ● ● ● Analog: D-SUB(Analog signal) input. yy Digital: DVI-D(Digital signal) input. yy HDMI: HDMI(Digital signal) input. yy Sets the SUPER ENERGY SAVING function. Returns the monitor to original factory settings. ENG ENGLISH Menu Settings 14 CUSTOMIZING SETTINGS 3D Settings(Only 3D mode) 3D ENGLISH ENG 1 Press any button on the front of the Monitor set to display the MONITOR SETUP OSD menu. 3D MODE OFF(1/4) 3D L/R CHANGE R-L(1/2) 3D - > 2D OFF 2 Press the 3D button to display the options in the OSD menu. EXIT 3 Set the options by pressing the buttons on the front of the Monitor set. 4 Select EXIT to leave the OSD menu. To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button. The available picture settings are described below. Menu 3D MODE 3D L/R CHANGE 3D - > 2D Description Select the format of 3D video data. (Enabled only for HDMI VIDEO TIMING) SIDE BY SIDE Left and right pictures are arranged in Side by Side layout. TOP & BOTTOM Left and right pictures are arranged in Top and Bottom layout. LINE INTERLACED Left and right pictures are arranged in line by line. OFF Turns off 3D Mode. Changes which frame is shown to each eye. R-L Odd lines are Right picture and even lines are Left picture. L-R Odd lines are Left picture and even lines are Right picture. Converts 3D images into 2D. (Enabled only for HDMI VIDEO TIMING) OFF Displays images in 3D. ON Displays images in 2D. NOTE 3D Mode. yy SIDE BY SIDE TOP & BOTTOM LINE INTERLACED If the 3D option selected is incorrect, images may not be displayed properly. yy Volume Settings (Only supported in HDMI) 1 Press any button on the front of the Monitor set to display the MONITOR SETUP OSD menu. 2 Press the VOLUME button to display the options in the OSD menu. 3 Set the options by pressing the buttons on the front of the Monitor set. 4 Select EXIT to leave the OSD menu. To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button. VOLUME 50 EXIT CUSTOMIZING SETTINGS SUPER ENERGY SAVING Settings 15 SUPER ENERGY SAVING ENG ENGLISH 1 Press any button on the front of the Monitor set to display the MONITOR SETUP OSD menu. ON OFF RESET 2 Press the MENU button to display the options in the OSD menu. 3 Select SUPER ENERGY SAVING by pressing the buttons on the front of the Monitor set and set the options. SUPER SAVING : 5 W/h TOTAL POWER REDUCTION: 20 W LED SAVING : 12 W/h TOTAL CO2 REDUCTION: 16 g 4 Select EXIT to leave the OSD menu. OK EXIT To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button. The available picture settings are described below. Menu Description ON Enables SUPER ENERGY SAVING you can save energy with this energy-efficient function. OFF Disables SUPER ENERGY SAVING. RESET Resets the values of total energy consumption reduction and CO2 emission reduction estimates. NOTE TOTAL POWER REDUCTION: How much power is saved while using the monitor. yy TOTAL CO2 REDUCTION: Change the TOTAL POWER REDUCTION to CO2. yy SAVING DATA(W/h) yy 546 mm(22 inch) 634 mm(25 inch) SUPER SAVING 4 W/h 5 W/h LED SAVING 15 W/h 12 W/h Saving Data depends on the Panel. So,those values should be different from each panel and panel yy vendor. LG calculated these values by using “broadcast video signal”. yy LED Saving refers to how much power can be saved using a WLED Panel instead of CCFL panel. yy SUPER SAVING refers to how much power can be saved using the SUPER ENERGY SAVING yy function. 16 TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLESHOOTING ENGLISH ENG Check the following before calling for service. No image appears Is the power cord of the display connected? Is the power indicator light on? Is the power on and the power indicator blue or green? Is the power indicator flickering? Do you see an "OUT OF RANGE" message on the screen? Do you see a "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" message on the screen? yy Check and see if the power cord is connected properly to the power outlet. yy Press the Power button. yy Adjust the brightness and the contrast. yy If the display is in power saving mode, try moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard to bring up the screen. yy Try to turn on the PC. yy This message appears when the signal from the PC (video card) is out of horizontal or vertical frequency range of the display. See the 'Specifications' section of this manual and configure your display again. yy This message appears when the signal cable between your PC and your display is not connected. Check the signal cable and try again. Do you see a "OSD LOCKED" message on the screen? Do you see “OSD LOCKED” when you push MENU button? yy You can secure the current control settings, so that they cannot be inadvertently changed. You can unlock the OSD controls at any time by pushing the MENU button for several seconds: the message “OSD UNLOCKED” will appear. Display image is incorrect Display Position is incorrect. On the screen background, vertical bars or stripes are visible. Any horizontal noise appearing in any image or characters are not clearly portrayed. yy Press the AUTO button to automatically adjust your display image to the ideal setting. y Press the AUTO button to automatically adjust your display image to the ideal setting. yy Press the AUTO button to automatically adjust your display image to the ideal setting. yy Check Control Panel ► Display ► Settings and adjust the display to the recommended resolution or adjust the display image to the ideal setting. Set the color setting higher than 24 bits (true color). TROUBLESHOOTING 17 CAUTION Display image is incorrect The screen color is mono or abnormal. The screen blinks. yy Check if the signal cable is properly connected and use a screwdriver to fasten if necessary. yy Make sure the video card is properly inserted in the slot. yy Set the color setting higher than 24 bits (true color) at Control Panel ► Settings. yy Check if the screen is set to interlace mode and if yes, change it to the recommend resolution. Do you see an "Unrecognized monitor, Plug&Play (VESA DDC) monitor found" message? Have you installed the display driver? yy Be sure to install the display driver from the display driver CD (or diskette) that comes with your display. Or, you can also download the driver from our web site: http://www.lg.com. yy Make sure to check if the video card supports Plug&Play function. ENG ENGLISH Check Control Panel ► Display ► Settings and see if the frequency or the resolution were yy changed. If yes, readjust the video card to the recommend resolution. If the recommended resolution (optimal resolution) is not selected, letters may be blurred and the yy screen may be dimmed, truncated or biased. Make sure to select the recommend resolution. The setting method can differ by computer and O/S (Operation System), and resolution mentioned yy above may not be supported by the video card performance. In this case, please ask to the computer or the video card manufacturer. 18 TROUBLESHOOTING WHEN USING 3D MODE TROUBLESHOOTING WHEN USING 3D MODE ENGLISH ENG I can see a swirling oil-like pattern on the monitor when the monitor is turned off. yy This is caused by the interference of external light in the air layer between the LCD surface and 3D filter. The pattern becomes almost invisible when you turn on the power again. I cannot see 3D image properly yy When you view 3D images with this monitor, it is very important that you use the glasses provided with the monitor. The glasses are designed to compensate optically for the 3D filter attached to the surface of the monitor. If you wear third-party glasses, you may not see 3D images properly on the monitor. If you view 3D images outside the yy The optimal viewing angle of the monitor is 12° in vertical direction optimal viewing angle or distance, while 80° in horizontal direction; the optimal viewing distance is between 50 cm to 90 cm from the monitor. When you view 3D images outside the optimal viewing angle or viewing distance, the images may look overlapped or not be displayed properly in 3D. If you have not set the resolution, yy Please set the resolution of the monitor to the maximum (1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz) in the display settings. The 3D software may not work properly if the resolution is not set to the maximum. If the images that your left and right yy The stripe images in the odd-numbered lines are the ones that your eyes see are reversed, right eye sees on the monitor. If you only see the stripe images, not 3D images, set the images for your right eye to be displayed in the odd-numbered lines by changing the player or viewer option of the 3D software. I cannot see 3D but only 2D images. yy This monitor works both in 2D and 3D mode. You can view a video in 3D if it is made in 3D. If you try to view 2D images in 3D, they might not be displayed properly or you may experience poor picture quality.
