Dual Play (Optional) You can enjoy the sound in stereo by using two speakers. For enjoying Dual play, you need to purchase another speaker. ,,Note Indicates special notes and operating features. >>Caution Indicates cautions for preventing possible damages from abuse. >>Caution Water-proof (IPX7) This speaker is water-proof according to IPX7. IPX7 is a Water-proof up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Speaker is water-proof wireless speaker but it can be damaged. Avoid the cases below. yy Do not use unit under water or other liquid. yy When you use unit, close the port cover securely. yy When battery is charging, do not expose the unit to water. yy When exposed to water, wipe off it with a soft dry cloth. yy Ports are not water-proof. When you want a water-proof effect, close the port cover securely as follows. (Page 22-23) f Dual Play LED Operating Charging the speaker Charging with the AC adapter This speaker uses built-in battery. Before using it, charge the battery by connecting the AC Adapter. 1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the AC adapter. Checking the charging status When speaker's battery is charging, you can check the charging status by Battery LED. LED Green Green Description Off Off Battery is fully charged. Battery is charging. Red Red ,,Note yy If you listen to the music while charging, it will take longer to charge. yy When the speaker is not charging by overheating, Battery LED turn on red and amber alternately. And charging is stopped. yy When the speaker’s battery is fully charged, the Battery LED turn on green for 15 seconds and then off. (Not supplied) ,,Note Operating time is approx. 15 hours. It is based on what fully charged the battery, continuous playback using 50 % volume level and turning off equalizer function. It may vary depending on the battery status and operational conditions. >>Caution AC adapter is not supplied. It is recommended that you use the 5 V AC adapter approved by LG Electronics Inc. (more than 1.8 A) with this speaker because of danger of explosion. If you do not use the recommended adapter, charging is unavailable or charging time may differ. Operating 2. Connect the USB cable to USB port of the speaker. 3. Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet. 10 Operating Checking Battery status If the power turned on, you can check the charging status by pressing the 1 button for 2 seconds. Then Battery LED light will change depending on battery charging status. LED Description Green Green Battery LED turns on green. Operating Amber Amber Red Red Battery LED turns on amber. Battery LED continuously blinks in red with the sound. Status 70 % 10 70 % 10 10 % 70 % 10 % 10 % 10 % ,,Note yy The Battery LED turn on for 3 seconds, after the 1 button press for 2 seconds. yy Checking Battery status is not checked when the speaker is charging. yy If the speaker is connected your smartphone, you can check the battery status by the smartphone. It may vary from actual battery capacity. Operating 11 Basic Operations Bluetooth LED status Check the Bluetooth LED blinks before connecting Bluetooth device. Using power button Operating LED Power On / Off Press the 1 button. Bluetooth Connection LG-PK3(XX) Status Description Bluetooth LED blinks with the sound. Searching for Bluetooth device. Bluetooth LED turns on with the sound. Bluetooth device is connected. ,,Note yy In Portable mode, Bluetooth LED turns off. yy Once pairing is performed, it does not need to be done again even if you turn off this unit. Play the desired music on the Bluetooth device. After pairing, you can control playback using the buttons on the unit. (Page 12, 17-18) 12 Operating Simple Operation Guide Function How to Status Operating Power On Press the 1 button. Power LED turns on with the sound. Power Off Press the 1 button. Power LED turns off with the sound. Bluetooth pairing When Bluetooth LED blinks, select LG-PK3 (XX) from device list on your Bluetooth device. Bluetooth LED turns on with the sound. Multi phone pairing Press and hold j for 2 seconds to add another Bluetooth device. During the search for another device, the Bluetooth LED blinks. After pairing, Bluetooth LED stays in white with the sound. Volume control Press P or O. When this unit reaches minimum volume or maximum volume, you can hear beep sound. Play / Pause Press N. Forward skip Press N twice. Backward skip Press N three times. Handsfree Press N. Receive and disconnect a call. Dual play (optional) Press and hold the 3 button for 2 seconds Dual Play LED turns on with the sound. Bluetooth Initialization Press and hold j for 7 seconds. Power and Bluetooth LED blinks 4 times. ,,Note yy In Dual Play mode, the multi phone pairing connection is not supported. (Page 22-23) yy You can adjust playback or volume by using your Bluetooth device. Operating 13 Handsfree Function You can receive incoming call on your Bluetooth device to this unit. Connect the unit to a Bluetooth device. ,,Note yy Only smartphone is available to use this function. yy To adjust the call volume, press P, Obuttons on the unit. yy In Dual Play mode, you can receive a call on only main speaker due to audio howling. (Page 22-23) yy In multi phone pairing mode, you can receive only one of the connected devices call on speaker. (page 19) Function How to Receive a call. Press N. End the call. Press N. Reject a call. Press and hold N for 2 seconds Toggle between speaker and your phone during a call. Press and hold N for 2 seconds yy If connect the call between multi paired Bluetooth device, hands free is working incorrectly. (page 19) yy If you change portable mode on Bluetooth connection status, you can use this function. yy To use this mode, some of Bluetooth device needs to be changed to speaker mode on call mode. (ex. iOS devices) yy If you receive a call by using talk button on your phone, it will be connected a call to your phone. (Only iOS devices) Operating yy When an incoming call, it might ring the builtin ringtone depending on some of Bluetooth device. (ex. iOS devices) Built in ringtone is not available to adjust. 14 Operating Voice Command You can speak to operate the Voice Command of your smartphone through speaker’s microphone by using the Google app or the Siri. Operating 1. Connect the speaker to smart device through Bluetooth. 2. Press the . button to active Voice Command of your smart device. 3. Activate Voice Command app as follow. -- Android O/S : Select the Google app. -- iOS O/S : Siri activates automatically. 4. Make a request to Google app or Siri through microphone of speaker. ,,Note yy When Voice Command time limit exceeded on smart devices, this function automatically cancel. yy When you cancel Voice command mode, press the . button. yy For more information, refer to Google app or Siri. yy Speaking at near microphone will increase the success rate. Operating 15 Equalizer Mode Setting Equalizer mode This system has a number of pre-set equalizer mode. You can select a desired Equalizer mode by using Enhanced Bass button. Function Description Standard You can enjoy optimized sound. Enhanced Bass Reinforces the bass and powerful sound. yy When you select ”Standard” or “Enhanced Bass” equalizer mode, you can enjoy premium sound with MERIDIAN technology. Equalizer LED status On / LED Function Enhanced Bass Standard Enhanced Bass Enhanced Bass Off Operating ,,Note yy When you turn the speaker back on, the last used option will be on. 16 Operating Listening to Music from Your External Device The unit can be used to listen to the music from many types of external device. 1. Connect the external device to the PORT.IN connector of the unit. 2. Turn the power on by pressing 1 button. 3. Turn the external device on and start playing. ,,Note yy When you connect the portable cable, the function is changed to portable mode automatically. Operating yy In Portable mode, speaker limits Bluetooth connection to prevent unintended Bluetooth connection. yy When press the j button during use this mode, switch to Bluetooth mode. yy When you use Dual Play mode, the portable mode is not supported. (Not supplied) Operating 17 Using BLUETOOTH® technology About BLUETOOTH Bluetooth is wireless communication technology for short range connection. Connecting individual devices under Bluetooth wireless technology does not incur any charges. A mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology can be operated via the Cascade if the connection was made via Bluetooth wireless technology. Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH device Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in to your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again. 1. Turn on the unit then Bluetooth LED blinks with the sound. yy Available Devices : Smart phone, Notebook, etc. yy Version : 4.2 2. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this unit with the Bluetooth device, a list of the devices found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Your unit appears as “LG-PK3 (xx)”. yy Codec : SBC, AAC, AptX, 3. Select “LG-PK3 (xx)”. BLUETOOTH Profiles In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, devices must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with following profile. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) HFP (Handsfree Profile) ,,Note yy XX means the last two digits of Bluetooth address. For example, if your unit has a Bluetooth address such as 9C:02:98:4A:F7:08, you will see “LG-PK3 (08)” on your Bluetooth device. yy Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some device have a different pairing way. Enter the PIN code (0000) as needed. 4. When this unit is successfully connected with your Bluetooth device, Bluetooth LED will turn on with the sound. 5. Listen to music. To play a music stored on your Bluetooth device, refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide. Operating The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave or you connect the Bluetooth in the other rooms. Listening to music stored on the BLUETOOTH devices 18 Operating ,,Note yy When using Bluetooth technology, you have to make a connection between the unit and the Bluetooth device as close as possible and keep the distance. However you may experience issues in the cases below : -- There is an obstacle between the unit and the Bluetooth device. Operating -- There is a device using same frequency with Bluetooth technology such as a medical equipment, a microwave or a wireless LAN device. yy If Bluetooth connection does not work well, go to step 1 of “Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH device” and try again. yy The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave. yy Depending on the type of the device, you may not be able to use the Bluetooth function. yy You can enjoy Bluetooth function using Smart phone, Notebook, etc.. yy The more distance between the unit and the Bluetooth device, the lower the sound quality becomes. yy Bluetooth connection will be disconnected when the unit is turned off or the Bluetooth device gets too far from the unit. yy When Bluetooth connection is disconnected, connect the Bluetooth device to the unit again. yy Bluetooth connection will be maintained even if you change the Bluetooth function to the others. yy When you connect Bluetooth device (iOS device etc.) to this unit or operate the device, the volume level can be synchronized with each other. yy When the unit is not connected, Bluetooth LED will blink. Controls connected Bluetooth device You can control connected Bluetooth device from the unit; play, pause, skip. ,,Note yy Only Android OS and iOS is available to use this function. yy This function may not be supported depending on the Bluetooth device, or operated differently. Operating 19 Multi phone pairing The unit can be connected to 2 Bluetooth devices at the same time. Pairing with Two Devices 1. Connect the unit to a Bluetooth device. ,,Note yy The multi phone pairing connection is only supported on Android devices. (Multi phone pairing connection may not be supported depending on the connected device specifications.) yy Removable/detachable Bluetooth device (Ex :Dongle etc..) doesn't support multi phone pairing. yy Even if this unit connected up to 2 Bluetooth devices, you can play and control music by using only one of the connected devices. 3. Select "LG-PK3 (XX)" from device list on another Bluetooth device. Then the speaker is connection with 2 Bluetooth devices. yy After multi-pairing connection, it takes a little time for the music to be played depending on the Bluetooth devices. 4. When connection of 2 Bluetooth devices are successful, Bluetooth LED will turn on. yy In case of multi phone pairing, 2 Bluetooth device are not supported automatically connection. Only one Bluetooth device will be automatically connected speaker. The other device should be connected manually. ,,Note yy When you use Dual Play mode, the multi phone pairing connection is not supported. Press and hold the 3 button for 2 seconds to cancel Dual play mode. yy You can connect this unit with up to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously same method as above description. yy When speaker is ready to multi phone pairing mode, you need to connect other Bluetooth devices and speaker within a few minutes (Approx. 1 minute). Otherwise multi phone pairing mode will be canceled. yy In case of multi-pairing, only one activated Bluetooth device can use voice command. yy When multi phone pairing connection is completed, some of mobile phones (ex. AptX HD supported devices) play music after a brief pause. yy If you get out of Bluetooth effective distance without disconnecting Bluetooth, it takes a few minutes to connect other Bluetooth devices. But after power off and on, you can connect other Bluetooth devices without waiting. yy If you try to pair a new Bluetooth device when it is connected 2 Bluetooth devices, this speaker automatically disconnect to all Bluetooth devices. Operating 2. When the Bluetooth device and unit are connected, press and hold j button for 2 seconds. Then Bluetooth LED blinks with the sound. The unit is changed to multi phone pairing mode. 20 Operating Dual Play Connection (Optional) You can enjoy the sound in stereo by using two speakers. For enjoying Dual play, you need to purchase another speaker. 2. If two speakers are connected, blinking Dual Play LEDs will stay white with beep sound. speaker : Main speaker is to set L (left) channel and turns on Dual Play LED and Bluetooth LED. speaker : Other speaker is set to R (Right) channel and turns on Dual Play LED. ,,Note yy It takes up to 1minute to connect to dual play. yy Using Dual play is limited to only these units and is unavailable on other Portable Bluetooth Speaker. Operating yy If you are not connected to Bluetooth device, main speaker's Bluetooth LED blinks. 1. Press and hold the each speaker’s 3 button for 2 seconds. Then the speakers are ready to Dual play mode. 2 seconds -- B eep sound is heard and Dual Play LED will blink white fast. 3. Play the desired music on the Bluetooth device. Operating 21 ,,Note yy When you enjoy Dual Play, Multi phone pairing is not supported. -- Main speaker ( ) connects only one Bluetooth device. yy If you turn the power off and then on again, two speakers need to be reconnection for using dual play mode. yy If the units fail to connect Dual play, go to step 1 and try again. yy When Dual Play connection is on processing, you cannot search the units on other Bluetooth devices. yy When you disconnect Dual Play connection, press and hold the 3 buttons for 2 seconds of one of the two speakers again. yy When you enjoy Dual Play, you can adjust the Volume, Playback or Equalizer of both main ( ) and other ( ) speakers at the same time. yy When you connect Dual play connection while using portable mode, this speaker automatically change to Bluetooth mode. yy If you connect Portable cable in Dual Play mode, it will cancel Dual play mode and then change Portable mode. yy To change the Bluetooth device in Dual Play mode, press and hold j for 2 seconds to disconnect current Bluetooth device and connect the desired Bluetooth device. yy When you connect Bluetooth device (iOS device etc.) to this unit or operate the device, the volume level can be synchronized with each other. Operating yy In Dual Play mode, you can connect only the main speaker( ) with the Bluetooth device. yy In Dual Play mode, you can receive a call on only main speaker due to audio howling. yy In Dual Play mode, make the distance between the speakers as close as possible each other. yy Depending on network environment, the Dual Play may not work well. yy When enters Dual play mode, some of mobile phones (ex. AptX HD supported devices) play music after a brief pause. yy In Dual Play mode, you use voice command on only main speaker. 22 Operating Other Operation Resetting In case that the unit freezes due to malfunction, press the RESET button using an object like a thin pin. Then speaker turns off. Press 1 button to try turning on speaker again. Notice for Auto Power Off When the unit is in Bluetooth mode without music playback for 15 minutes or in portable input mode without button operation for 6 hours, this unit is turned off automatically. Operating Troubleshooting 23 Troubleshooting Problem Cause & Correction No Power. yy The battery is discharged. Recharge the battery. yy Connect the unit to the power supply with the AC adapter. yy The unit or your smart device’s volume is set to minimum. Check and adjust the volume of the unit or Bluetooth device’s volume. No sound or sound distortion. yy When you use an external device at high volume, the sound quality may be deteriorated. Lower the volume of the devices. yy If you use the unit for purposes other than listening to music, the sound quality may be lowered or the unit may not work properly. Bluetooth pairing does not work well. yy Be sure your Bluetooth device is on. yy Remove the obstacle in the path of the Bluetooth device and the unit. yy Depending on the type of the Bluetooth device or surrounding environment, your device may not be paired with the unit. yy If the battery was fully discharged, the stored Bluetooth information can be deleted. Previous setting may not be saved when the unit’s power is shut off. The unit does not operate normally. yy In case of malfunction, please use the unit in proper place where the temperature or humidity is not so high or low. yy In case of overload, power and Bluetooth LEDs blink white. Please turn the power off and then on again. Above solutions do not work. yy Press the RESET button on speaker using an object like a thin pin. (Page 24) Troubleshooting yy Switch Bluetooth off and on again on your Bluetooth device, then try pairing again. 24 Appendix Trademarks and Licenses Handling the Unit When shipping the unit Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. Other trademarks and trade names are those of their respective owners.
