Chapter 1. Getting Started
You have just purchased the “SD-510" cellular phone. and we are sure you must be anxious to
call someone,
Just a moment!
You will get much more enjoyment and use. if you take a moment to check the contents of this
manual so that you can recognize and be familiar with the basic parts, functions of the buttons.
and the LCD display screen.
Do not connect the personal Handsfree kit to handsets because it causes unnecessary battery
reduction.
Phone Overview
Lamp: The red light goes on when you use the power key to turn on the phone and when there
are incoming calls and messages.
END: When turning power on/otf. This key disconnects a call. Using this key, you can also exit
out of a menu back to the phone's standby display without changing the setting.
SEND: When making/receiving a call.
Soil Key 1: Used to display the function setting menu.
Soft Key 2: Used to search through the stored phone numbers and select the function.
Up Navigation: When search a character/voice message and scroll through menu items
vertically.
Down Navigation: When search today schedules and scroll through menu items vertically.

Le" Navigation(<) : Used to connect Internet service and scroll through menu items
horizontally.
Right Navigation(>) : Used to scroll through menu items horizontally.
CLR: If you press this key once, you can erase one digit or character. If you press and hold this
key, you can erase all digits. (When enter the phone number)
If you press this key once in a menu, you can go back one level and it you press and
hold the key in a menu, you can go back to the standby display.
— in the standby status, set the manner mode by pressing the # button. (for 2 seconds)
- In the standby status. set the lock function by pressing the * button. (for 2 seconds)
Alphanumeric keypad: These keys enable you to enter numbers and characters and choose
men u items.
Battery Charge Level
The battery charge level is shown at the top right of the LCD screen on the phone.
SIS:
When the battery charge level becomes low, the low battery sensor will alert you in three ways:
Sounding an audible tone, blinking the battery ioon outline, and displaying “LOW BATTERY
WARNING". Afier a short period of time, the power is automatically shut down to prevent any
battery damage.
Using the Desktop Charger
The “SD-510" desktop charger has a slot tor recharging batteries The slot accommodates
phone and battery pack for charging.
Warning! Use only the desktop charger provided with the phone. Using the wrong charger may
cause damage to your phone or battery.
1. Plug the charger into a wall outlet.
- - The charger should operate on a 220V source.
2. Insert the phone wim an installed battery pack or a battery pack into the charger’s slot.
~ ~ Fit the battery terminal and charger terminal property. The lamp on the front of the charger
should be red.
It completely discharged, the battery will take about 3 hours to recharge. If you leave the phone
on while it is in the desktop charger, the battery will take longer to charge.

Chapter 2. Basic Functions
Making a Call
Whenever you make a call, follow these simple steps:
1. Make sure the phone is turned on.
- - If not, press [END]
2. Enter the phone number with area code, if needed.
3. Press [SND]
- - If the phone is locked, enter the lock code and press [SND]
4. Press [END] to disconnect the call,
correcting Dialing Mistakes
If you have misdial a number. Press the [Clear : 0] button once to erase the last entered digit or
hold down [Clear : 0] button for at least one second to delete all digits.
Receiving Calls
1, When the phone rings, open up the folder or in case the folder is open, press any key (except
[END]) to answer.
2. Press [END] to disconnect the call.
In call waiting mode. the active call is put on hold as you answer another incoming call.
The service is provided by your service provider,
When the call waiting function is activated, your phone will beep to let you know you have an
incoming call. Your phone may also diSplay the incoming caller's identification.
Using Quick Mode
Manner Mode
Set as Manner Mode in a public place,
1. In the standby status, select the function by pressing the #. (for 2 seconds)
~ ~ In case Manner Mode is set, "ETIQUETTE MODE" icon is displayed on the LCD screen.
- - If Manner Mode is set. Key Tone dose not sound and Vibration is selected as a bell sound,

To turn off the status, press # again but for a little longer.
Set-up oi Lock Function
Used to prevent others from using your phone.
1, In the standby status, set the lock function by pressing the ". (for2 seconds)

Press Soft Key 2 [UNLOCK], then enter lock code (4digits).
M ute
This function prevents your voice from being transmitted, but you can still hear the other party’s
talking.
1. While in a call, press Soft Key 1 and select “Mute Mode” by pressing Navigation key
and Soft Key 2[SELECT].
2. To release Mute, select “Mute Mode” again.
Redialing Calls
Redialing Calls Manually
1. Press [SND] two times to redial the last number in call history
- ~You can also redial any of the last 10 numbers you have dialed. The last 10 numbers can be
stored in the call history list (See the “Recent Call History List (Press [SND]).
Signal Strength
The call quality depends on the signal strength in your area. The phone displays the current
strength as the number of bars next to the signal strength icon: the more the bars. the better the
signal strength. If the signal quality is poor, try moving the phone. If you are in a building, the
reception may be better near a window. For maximum reception make sure that the antenna is
fully extended.
Speed Dialing (see “Dialing Number lrom Your Phone Book" on page 06)
Speed dialing is a convenient feature, allowing you to make phone calls quickly and easily. Your
phone recalls the phone number from your personal directory. displays it briefly‘ and then dials it.
1. Enter memory location number (1 to 200).
2. Press [SND]. The phone will recall the telephone number from memory. display it. and then
dial it.

Phone Book Feature
Two Types of Phone Books
You can store up to 200 entries in the Phone Book giving you easy access to your most
frequendy dialed phone numbers, There are two types of phone books: Personal Phone Book
Memory and Recent Call History List.
Personal Phone Book Memory
The phone has 200 personal phone book memory locations where you can store 4 numbers
with up to 28 digits with an associated name of up to 14 characters.
Saving Numbers to your Personal Book
Memory locations 1 through 200 should be used for one-touch dialing for your most frequently
used phone numbers.
1. Enter the phone number that you want to save (Up to 24 digits)
2. By pressing Solt Key 1 [SAVE]
3. Select your desired label type using the horizontal Navigation key. then press Sofl Key 2 [0K].
4 Enter a name (up to 14 characters) and then press Down Navigation key. If you do not want
to enter a name. press Soft Key 2 [SAVE] to save the phone number.
5. The phone will prompt you for the memory location where the number will be saved. Press
Soft Key 1 [AUTOADDR] to automatically store the number in the next available memory
location. You also have the option to enter a specific three-digit memory location number.
6. The phone will ask whether you want to keep this number secret or not. Setting memory
location to “Secret" hides the phone number and is not edited but deleted only. Select “YES"
or “NO” using the horizontal Navigation Key,
Entering information using the keypad
Use Eng mode to enter characters using the multi—tap method. Each key cycles through the
characters printed on its face.
When you have the correct letter or number in position on the screen. wait for two seconds for
the cursor to automatically advance to the next space or manually move the cursor to the Iefl or
right by pressing < or >.
For example. to type “LG”, you would use the following multi-tap sequence on the keypad,
Press Soft Key 1[x—>X].
Press - 0 three times to enter the letter L
Press - -one time to enter the letter G

Entering special characters
You may use any of the special characters. Enter the number next to the character you want to
insert. You can change the special character mode using the Solt key 1.
In character mode press Solt Key 1 to cycle through the following characters.
Dialing Numbers From Vour Phone Book
You can make a call using any memory location either by speed dialing from the memory list or
by pressing [SND] while viewing the full contents of the memory location.
1. One-Touch Dialing: One4touch diallng is a convenient feature which enables you to dial
frequently used numbers in your personal phone book by pressing a key once (for memory
location 1 through 9).
1) For location 1 to 9. you can use one-touch dialing by pressing and holding down the key
corresponding to the memory location.
OR
1) Press digit, then press [SND].
2. Two-Touch Dialing (Speed Dialing): This dialing feature enables you to dial numbers in your
phone book through two keys (for locations 10 to 99).
1) Press the first digit.
2) Press and hold the key of the second digit.

3. Three-Touch Dialing (Speed Dialing): This dialing feature enables you to dial numbers in
your phone book through three keys(for location 100 to 200).
1) Press the first digit and second digit.
2) Press and hold the key of the third digit.
Advanced Phone Book Feature
1. Pause Feature: When you call automated systems (such as voice mail or credit billing
numbers), you olten have to enter a series of numbers. Instead of entering these numbers by
hand. you can store the numbers in your phone book separated by special characters called
pauses. There are two kinds of pauses:
~ -HARD PAUSE [P]
t The phone pause until you press Soft Key 2 [SND] to go to the next number.

. -TIME PAUSE [T]
: The phone will pause for two seconds before sending the next set of numbers
' - HYPHEN H
: Hyphens are used for appearance only (eg. 1-800555-1234). They will not add a pause
between numbers.
20 Storing a Number with Pauses
1) Enter the phone number.
2) Press Up Navigation key.
3) Select one from the following:
- - Press 1 [HardPause(P)]
- - Press 2 [TimePause(T)]
~ ~ Press 3 [HYPHENH], and hyphens will not pause a number,
4) Enter additional number(s) (eg. pin number or credit card number),
5) Press Soft Key 1 [SAVE] and Press Son Key 2 [OK].
6) Enter name, then Press Soft Key 2 [SAVE].

Chapter 3. Menu Features
General Guidelines to Menu Access and Settings
1. Press Soft Key 1 [MENU]. The first 3 menu items will appear.
2. Press Up or Down Navagation or < or > to go through the list of menu features.
3, Press Soft Key 2 [SELECT] corresponding to the menu item that you want to select.
4. Select preferred settings, using the Soft key 1 [NEXT]. Press [CLR] to go one step backward
while accessing menu or selecting settings.
5. Press Soft Key 2 [SELECT] to save the settings and press [CLR] to cancel without saving.

Note: What to Allocate a Representative Phone
If you entered several telephone types in a memory location, one can be assigned to be the
representative phone number. When the memory location number is dialed, this representative
phone number is connected.
How to enter a name
When entering a name. you can use both upper case and lower case letter. 4 modes(low case
English letters. uppercase English, Number. Special character) are provided to enter character.
Press Soft Key 1 [x—>X] once to change from lower case letter to upper case letter.

Checking of calendar
This shows the calendar with which you can check whether there is a schedule or not.
1. Press Soft Key 2 [MENU] and select “Schedule" in “Pocketbook' using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2[SELECT]. .
- ~The bold-cased dates on the calendar are dates containing entries in schedule, memo or
anniversary.
ADD NEW
The function enables the user to enter the data such as the schedule, memo or anniversary on
the displayed calendar.
1. Press Soft Key 2 [MENU] and select “Schedule" in “Pocketbook‘ using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2[SELECTl.
2. Select the date at which you want to add schedule, memo, or anniversary using Navigation

Used to notify the time with alarm if you set up alarm time
1, Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select “Set Alarm" in “Pocketbook" using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2 [SELECT]
- OSeIect “Rel(ease)/One/Ever(y day)" by pressing < or >.(Also Soft key 1 [NEXT] can be used.)

3 Enter time.
4. Select “AM/PM” using 8011 Key 1 .
5 Press Soft Key 2 [SAVE].
CLEAR CALLS
Used to delete all the phone numbers saved in the "CALL HISTORY" for which calls have been
made,
1 Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select “Set Alarm” in “Pocketbook" using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2 [SELECT] , and then enter password (four digits).
2, Press Soft Key 1 [YES] , then Soft Key 2 [OK].
CLEAR PHONE BOOK
Used to deletes all phone book data saved in the memory address. You should be careful with
this function because it deletes all phone book data saved in the memory locations. Any content
deleted is not recoverable,
1‘ Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select "Clear PB“ in "Pocketbook" using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2 [SELECT] , then enter password (four digits).

RINGER Type
Reception modes to notify that you have an incoming call. The function selects a phone bell
type when receiving a call. Select vibrator in public places.
1 Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select “Ringer Type" in “SOUND" using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2 [SELECT] .
. ~ Select ring type by pressing Soft Key 1 [NEXT].

RINGER SOUND
Types of ring sound to notify that you have an incoming call. You can select the bell sound you
want.
1. Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select "Ringer Sound" in “SOUND" using Navigation keys and
Sofl key 2 [SELECT],
° 0 Select bell sound by pressing Sofl Key 1 [NEXT].
2. Press Soft Key 2 [OK].
RINGER VOLUME
You hear each ringing level as you scroll through the volume levels.
1A Press Soft Key 1 [MENU] and select “RingerVolume” in “SOUND" using Navigation keys and
Soft key 2 [SELECT].
2 Select ringing volume using Soft Key 1 [NEXT], then press Soft Key 2 [OK].
CONNECT ALERT

are saved. Phone numbers after this are erased and the phone number dialed most reoenfly
appears first in the order of “CALL HISTORY”

2. Press Up/Down Navigation key to scroll through the last 10 calls until the arrow prompt is at
the number you want to call.
3. You can press [SND] to place a call or choose Soft Key 2 [VIEW] to see the details of the call.
Press Soft Key 2 [SAVE] to save the number to a memory location. If the number already has
a name associated with it, it is already entered into a memory location.
