3. What kinds of phones are the subject of this update?
Theterm“wirelessphone”refersheretohandheldwirelessphoneswith
built-inantennas,oftencalled“cell”,“mobile”,or“PCS”phones.Thesetypes
ofwirelessphonescanexposetheusertomeasurableRadioFrequency(RF)

TheseRFexposuresarelimitedbyFCCsafetyguidelinesthatwere
developedwiththeadviceoftheFDAandotherfederalhealthandsafety

theexposuretoRFisdrasticallylowerbecauseaperson’sRFexposure
decreasesrapidlywithincreasingdistancefromthesource.Theso-called
“cordlessphones,”whichhaveabaseunitconnectedtothetelephone
