Keep these operating instructions in a safe location. In addition, please pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner. Intended use The wireless weather station shows you the inside and outside temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or degrees Celsius (°C), as well as the minimum and maximum temperatures. The inside and outside humidity (%), as well as the minimum and maximum values, are also shown. Also displayed are the recommended ventilation time, indoor climate rating and indoor climate changes. The product is intended exclusively for private households, and is not recommended for commercial use. Any use other than the intended use is considered to be improper. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage caused by improper use or repairs, unauthorized modifications, or the use of unapproved replacement parts. The risk is borne solely by the user. In order to handle batteries safely, please observe the following safety instructions: ►►Do not throw the batteries into a fire and do not subject them to high temperatures. ►►Do not open, deform, or short-circuit batteries, since this can lead to chemical leakage. ►►Do not attempt to recharge the batteries. Do not charge batteries unless they are explicitly labeled as "rechargeable". There is a risk of explosion! ►►Never heat batteries in order to revive them. ►►Check the condition of the batteries at regular intervals. Leaking chemicals can cause permanent damage to the appliance. Take particular care when handling damaged or leaking batteries. Risk of acid burns! Wear protective gloves. ►►Chemicals that leak from a battery can cause skin irritation. In the event of contact with the skin, rinse with plenty of water. If the chemicals come into contact with your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water, and do not rub them. Consult a physician immediately. ►►Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Children might put batteries into their mouth and swallow them. If a battery has been swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately. Make sure there are no interfering obstacles between the outdoor sensor and the weather station. Otherwise, there could be transmission interference. ■ 10 │ US - EN _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 10 AHFL 433 A1 08.05.18 13:2 ♦♦ Both the weather station and the outdoor sensor can be hung up using the fixing lugs 9/t. ♦♦ Alternatively, the base q of the weather station can be folded out for placement on an even, level surface. Using the outdoor sensor for the first time ♦♦ Open the battery compartment o on the back of the device by sliding the battery compartment cover p in the direction of the arrow. ♦♦ Insert two type AAA batteries as indicated in the battery compartment o. ♦♦ Then, close the battery compartment o. The indicator LED r lights up briefly, and the current temperature, humidity and selected channel (e.g. CH 1) are shown on the display e. The indicator LED r then lights up once per minute, indi cating wireless transmission. Using the weather station for the first time ♦♦ Open the battery compartment 0 on the back of the device by removing the battery compartment cover w. ♦♦ Insert three type AAA batteries as indicated in the battery compartment 0. ♦♦ Then, close the battery compartment 0. After a power supply has been connected, the display lights up and quickly checks all display elements. On the display field for outdoors 3, the reception icon above the channel display blinks. If no outside temperature or humidity is shown within approx. 3 minutes, the weather station stops searching for a signal. The reception icon turns off and the display field for outdoors 3 and . The system likely cannot detect a signal shows due to structural conditions or because the sensor is too far away. The display switches to basic mode. If you choose the setting the data is saved permanently until you replace the batteries. Displays in basic mode After you have set the time and the weather station has received the signal from the outdoor sensor, the device enters basic mode. In basic mode, the weather station shows the following information on the display: The time display 2 By default, the time is shown in 12-hour format. In the time from 12:00 noon to 11:59 p.m., (Latin for "post meridiem" = afternoon) will appear before the time. In the time from 12:00 midnight to 11:59 a.m., (Latin for "ante meridiem" = morning) will appear before the time. ■ 14 │ US - EN _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 14 AHFL 433 A1 08.05.18 13:2 The display field for indoors 7 The inside temperature measured by the weather station is shown with a precision of a tenth of a degree. The temperature unit (for degrees Fahrenheit) appears on the right. You can also switch the temperature unit to (degrees Celsius). If appears, the station has detected a temperature below the measurement range of 14 °F to 122 °F (-9.9 °C to 50 °C); indicates this range has been exceeded. The relative humidity (RH) measured by the weather station is shown in % above the temperature display. A recommended ventilation time and the indoor climate rating are shown below the temperature. Recommended ventilation time Based on the temperature and humidity values inside and outside, the weather station provides a recommendation to open ( ) or close ( ) the window to improve the indoor climate. Indoor climate rating Based on the humidity value indoors, the weather station categorizes the current indoor climate into three levels: Humid. Humidity between 66% and 95%. Optimal. Humidity between 45% and 65%. Dry. Humidity between 20% and 44%. AHFL 433 A1 _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 15 US - EN │ 15 ■ 08.05.18 13:2 Indoor climate change display 1 Using the recorded measurements (inside and outside), the weather station calculates the change to the indoor climate that can be expected. The symbols indicate how ventilating the room would affect the indoor climate: More humid. The expected increase in humidity is 5% or higher. Constant. The expected increase or decrease in humidity is 4% or less. Dryer. The expected decrease in humidity is 5% or higher. The display field for outdoors 3 The outside temperature is shown with a precision of a tenth of a degree. The temperature unit (for degrees Fahrenheit) appears on the right. You can also switch the temperature unit to (degrees Celsius). If appears, the station has detected a temperature below the measurement range of –40 °F to 140 °F (–40 °C to 60 °C); indicates this range has been exceeded. The relative humidity (RH) measured by the outdoor sensor is shown in % above the temperature display. In addition, the channel used by the ). connected outdoor sensor is shown (e.g. ■ 16 │ US - EN _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 16 AHFL 433 A1 08.05.18 13:2 Displaying the maximum/minimum temperature/humidity After connection to the power supply and the outdoor sensor has been established, the maximum and minimum values for temperature and humidity are automatically captured and stored by the weather station. 6 once. Battery replacement indicator When the battery icon appears in the display field for inside 7, you should replace the batteries in the weather station as soon as possible (see also the chapter Using the weather station for the first time). When the battery icon appears in the display field for outside 3 or in the display e of the outdoor sensor, you should replace the batteries in the outdoor sensor as soon as possible (see also the chapter on Using the outdoor sensor for the first time). ■ 18 │ US - EN _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 18 AHFL 433 A1 08.05.18 13:2 Switching the channel Switching the channel on the outdoor sensor You can choose between 3 different channels. Channel 1 is set by default. ♦♦ Open the battery compartment o on the back of the device by removing the battery compartment cover p. ♦♦ Choose a channel by moving the channel switch i to CH 1, CH 2 or CH 3. ♦♦ Press and hold the control surface 4 until the reception on the display field for outdoors 3 blinks. icon ♦♦ Press the TX button z to manually start the wireless signal for the outdoor sensor. After the signal is received, the temperature and humidity are shown in the display field for outdoors 3 on the new channel. ♦♦ Close the battery compartment o. AHFL 433 A1 _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 19 US - EN │ 19 ■ 08.05.18 13:2 Switching the channel display on the weather station When the weather station has received the signal from the outdoor sensor, it automatically shows the corresponding channel. However, you can also manually set the display of the different channels. ♦♦ Press the control surface 4 repeatedly to switch (only show channel 1), (only between displays (only show channel 3) and show channel 2), (rotate between all channels in a loop). Only the values from outdoor sensors that are connected to the weather station are shown. If you use multiple outdoor sensors, choose a different channel for each outdoor sensor. ■ 20 │ US - EN _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 20 AHFL 433 A1 08.05.18 13:2 Troubleshooting Unable to connect to the outdoor sensor. ■■ There are interfering obstacles or other sources of interference, such as concrete walls or other wireless transmission devices between the weather station and the outdoor sensor. Move the device to another location and try again. ■■ The outdoor sensor is too far away from the weather station. Move the two components closer together. "Visual contact" between the outdoor sensor and weather station often improves transmission. ■■ The batteries in the weather station or outdoor sensor are dead. Replace the batteries. AHFL 433 A1 _291952_AHFL433A1_WeatherStation_LB9.indb 21 US - EN │ 21 ■ 08.05.18 13:2 Cleaning ►►Ensure that no moisture penetrates into the device during cleaning to avoid irreparable damage to the device. ►►Do not use caustic, abrasive or solvent-based cleaners. They can attack the surfaces of the device. ♦♦ Clean the surfaces of the device with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth with a mild cleaning agent. Storage ♦♦ If you plan on not using the product for a long period, remove the batteries and store it in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight. Disposal Disposal of device Electrical devices may not be thrown away as part of normal household trash. If you can no longer use your electrical device, dispose of it in accordance with the legal provisions applicable in your state. This will ensure that old electrical devices are re cycled and environmental pollution is kept to a minimum. Recycling is always the best option for disposing of used batteries. Dry-Cell Batteries are used in a variety of electronics and include alkaline and carbon zinc (9-volt, D, C, AA, AAA), mercuric-oxide (button, some cylindrical and rectangular), silver-oxide and zincair (button), and lithium (9-volt, C, AA, coin, button, rechargeable) batteries. Look for in-store recycling bins or community collection events to dispose of these batteries. Disposal of the packaging T he packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable. Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations. Note the marking on the different packaging materials and separate them as necessary. The warranty covers: ▯▯ Damage, breakage or inoperability due to defect. ▯▯ Damage not caused by normal wear and tear or failure to follow the safety and maintenance instructions provided in the user manual. What is not covered by the warranty? The warranty does not cover damage caused by: ▯▯ Normal wear and tear of the product, including fragile parts (such as switches, glass, etc.); ▯▯ Improper use or transport; ▯▯ Disregarding safety and maintenance instructions; ▯▯ Accidents or acts of nature (e.g. lightning, fire, water, etc.); ▯▯ Tampering with the product (such as removing cover, unscrewing screws etc.) Consequential and incidental damages are also not covered under this warranty.
