Advanced Configuration Chapter 3 5. The Checking Connection screen appears. How to Connect Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup On the Connect to a Wireless Network screen, the Wi-Fi Protected Setup icon ( ) indicates a network that supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Follow these instructions to connect to a wireless network using Wi-Fi Protected Setup. NOTE: Before you begin, make sure the router and the computer with the Adapter are in the same room. 1. Select your network in the Connect to a Wireless Network screen, and then click Connect. Checking Connection 6. The Connected to Your Network screen appears. If you want the Wireless Manager to save your network’s settings, click Remember this network. Click Finish to exit the Wireless Manager. NOTE: Saving a hidden network’s settings will make it easier to reconnect to the network. Select the Wireless Network 2. The Quickly Connect Using Push Button screen appears. Connected to Your Network Congratulations! The Adapter is connected to the network. Quick Connect Using Push Button 3. Press the router’s Wi-Fi Protected Setup button If your router does not have this button, click Skip and go to Enter the Adapter’s PIN Number, page 9. 4. Connecting to the Network via Wi-Fi Protected Setup NOTE: If the connection cannot be set up, the message Registration failed appears. If this happens, click Connect to try again using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button , or click Skip to try again using the Adapter’s PIN number, and then go to Enter the Adapter’s PIN Number, page 9. Enter the Adapter’s PIN Number Enter the PIN Number 1. Access the web-based utility of the router. (Refer to the router’s documentation for instructions.) 2. On the router’s Wi-Fi Protected Setup screen, enter the Adapter’s PIN number in the appropriate field. Then perform the appropriate action to save the PIN number; for example, click Register. (Refer to the router’s documentation for instructions.) 6. The Connected to Your Network screen appears. Click Remember this network if you want to save your network’s settings. Click Finish to exit the Wireless Manager. 3. The Adapter connects to the network and the Connected to Your Network screen appears. If you want the Wireless Manager to save your network’s settings, click Remember this network. Click Finish to exit the Wireless Manager. Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter Advanced Configuration Chapter 3 Saved Networks How to Connect to a Saved Network When you connect to a wireless network, you can save its settings so that it will be easier to reconnect to the network at a later time. This is most helpful with hidden networks; if you do not save a hidden network’s settings, you will have to enter the SSID and security key. To connect to a saved network, follow these instructions. 1. In the Connect to a Wireless Network screen, select Saved networks in the View drop-down menu. 2. The screen displays a list of your saved networks.. To save a network, select Remember this network in the Connected to Your Network screen (the last screen that appears when you connect to a network). Saved Networks 3. Select the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect. Remember this Network To see a list of your saved networks, select Saved networks in the View drop-down menu of the Connect to a Wireless Network screen. 4. The Adapter connects to the network and the Connected to Your Network screen appears. Click Finish to exit the Wireless Manager. Connected to Your Network Saved Networks To delete a saved network form the list, select the network and click Remove. To change a network’s position in the list, select the network and click Move up or Move down. Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter Congratulations! The Adapter is connected to the network. 10 Appendix A Troubleshooting Appendix A: Troubleshooting Your computer does not recognize the Adapter. Make sure that the Adapter is properly inserted into the USB slot. The Adapter does not work properly. Remove the Adapter, and then reinsert it into the computer’s USB slot. Your computer cannot communicate with the other computers linked via Ethernet in the Infrastructure configuration. 1. Make sure that the computers are powered on. 2. Make sure that the Adapter is configured with the same Wireless Network Name (SSID) and wireless security settings as the other wireless computers in the Infrastructure configuration. Your exclusive remedy and Linksys’ entire liability under this limited warranty will be for Linksys, at its option, to (a) repair the product with new or refurbished parts, (b) replace the product with a reasonably available equivalent new or refurbished Linksys product, or (c) refund the purchase price of the product less any rebates. Any repaired or replacement products will be warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty Period or thirty (30) days, whichever is longer. All products and parts that are replaced become the property of Linksys. Exclusions and Limitations This limited warranty does not apply if: (a) the product assembly seal has been removed or damaged, (b) the product has been altered or modified, except by Linksys, (c) the product damage was caused by use with non-Linksys products, (d) the product has not been installed, operated, repaired, or maintained in accordance with instructions supplied by Linksys, (e) the product has been subjected to abnormal physical or electrical stress, misuse, negligence, or accident, (f ) the serial number on the Product has been altered, defaced, or removed, or (g) the product is supplied or licensed for beta, evaluation, testing or demonstration purposes for which Linksys does not charge a purchase price or license fee. You are responsible for properly packaging and shipping your product to Linksys at your cost and risk. You must include the RMA number and a copy of your dated proof of original purchase when returning your product.
