After starting up your Microsoft  Windows  98 operating system, the “Add NewHardware Wizard” dialog box will be displayed on your screen. Click on “Next>”. Fig.12.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears, asking you what Windowsshould do. Please choose ”Search for the best driver for your device.(Recommended)”, and click on “Next>”. Fig.23.) You will receive the following dialog box. Select “CD-ROM drive” and click on“Next>“ again. Please make sure that before you click on “Next>”, the Windows 98CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive.

USB Hub-AudioPage - 66.) The “Copying Files...” dialog box as shown below appears. Please specify the pathof the device driver files as E:\Win98, assuming your CD-ROM drive is E. Click on“OK”. Fig.67.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears again. Click on “Finish” andthe installation of the software for your new hardware device has been finished. Fig.7
USB Hub-AudioPage - 7Verifying Correct USB Hub Device Driver InstallationIf you want to view the correct installation of the device driver for your new hardwaredevice, please follow the steps as described below.1.) Go to >”Start”/ >”Settings”/ >”Control Panel" and double-click on the “System” icon.2.) The “System Properties” dialog box appears. Choose the “Device Manager” tap anddouble-click on “Universal serial bus controller”. You will see the following devicehas been added:Under “Universal serial bus controller”:Þ Generic USB Hub Fig.8

After starting up your Microsoft  Windows  98 operating system, the “NewHardware Found” dialog box will be displayed on your screen. Then a dialog box asdisplayed below appears. Please click on the “Next>” push button. Fig.92.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears, asking you what Windowsshould do. Please choose ”Search for the best driver for your device.(Recommended)”, and click on the “Next>” button. Same as Figure 2 on page 3.3.) You will receive the next dialog box. Select “CD-ROM drive” and click on the“Next>“ push button again. Please make sure that before you click on the “Next>”button, the Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive.Same as Figure 3 on page 4.4.) Please make sure your Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROMdrive. Activate the box “CD-ROM drive” and click on the “Next>” push button.Same as Figure 3 on page 4.9.) The following dialog box will display the message “USB Human Interface Device”.Accept the location of the driver by clicking on the “Next>“ push button. Fig.13

Now Windows will search for the new drivers for “USB Audio Device”. Click onthe “Next>” push button. Fig.1512.) Please choose “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)”, andclick on the “Next>” push button. Same as Figure 2 on page 3.13.) Please make sure your Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROMdrive. Activate the box “CD-ROM drive” and click on the “Next>” push button.Same as Figure 3 on page 4.

Please click on the “Next>” push button to accept the location ofthe device driver. Fig.1615.) Windows  98 has finished installing the software for your new hardware device.Just click on the “Finish” push button. Fig.17Congratulations! All installation procedures for the USB Audio device driver arecomplete, but you still have to ensure that the USB Audio works correctly.Please follow the next instructions step by step.
USB Hub-AudioPage - 13Verifying Correct USB Audio Device Driver Installation1.) Click on the “Start” button from your Microsoft  Windows  98 task bar. Select“Settings”, point at the “Control Panel” item and click on it. The “Control Panel”window will appear. Choose the “System” icon, double-click on it and a dialog boxas displayed below will appear. Fig.182.) From the “System Properties” dialog box select the “Device Manager” tap. Thefollowing devices have been added to your system:Under “Human Interface Devices”:Þ HID-compliant consumer control deviceÞ USB Human Interface DeviceUnder “Sound, video and game controllers”:Þ USB Audio DeviceUnder “Universal serial bus controller”:Þ USB Composite DevicePlease make sure that “USB Composite Device” is displayed on the screen, this meansthat the USB Audio is registered by Microsoft  Windows  98. You can enable theUSB Audio now.
USB Hub-AudioPage - 14How to Enable USB Audio1.) Please click on the “Start” button which is on the taskbar of your MicrosoftWindows  98 operating system. Select “Settings” and point at the “Control Panel”item. From the “Control Panel” window double-click on the “Multimedia” icon.Windows  98 will display the “Multimedia Properties” dialog box. Please enableyour “Audio” window same as below, then click on the “MIDI” tap. You willreceive a dialog box as shown on the next page.
USB Hub-AudioPage - 152.) Under “MIDI output” select “Single instrument” and highlight “Microsoft GSWavetable SW Synth”. Just continue by clicking on the “CD Music” tap and youwill receive the last dialog box as shown on the next page.3.) The “CD Music” dialog box appears showing you the default CD-ROM drive forplaying CD music. If you have more than one CD-ROM drive, make now yourchoice. You might also want to adjust the volume for your CD music. Do this bydragging the slide bare horizontally.
USB Hub-AudioPage - 16Finally enable the digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device and click on the “OK”push button, so that all new selections can take effect.Now you are ready to play Audio CD, MIDI- or Wave files through the MultimediaApplication Program of Microsoft  Windows  98. Have fun!USB Hub-Audio Device Driver Installation Under Windows  98In order to install the device driver for your USB Hub-Audio device please follow theinstallation procedure as described in chapter “USB Hub Device Driver Installation UnderWindows 98”, page 3, step 1 to 7.After the last dialog box “Add New Hardware Wizard” with the message “Generic USBHub” appears click on the “Finish” push button and you may continue by following theinstallation procedure as described in chapter “USB Audio Device Driver InstallationUnder Windows  98”, page 7, step 1 to 15.
