Introduction
Thank you for choosing our USB series products. We provide USB Hub, USB Audio
and USB Hub-Audio which are combinations of Hub and audio.
The following diagrams show you the back plates of the different devices.

USB Hub Device Driver Installation Under Windows
98
1.) After starting up your Microsoft Windows 98 operating system, the “Add New
Hardware Wizard” dialog box will be displayed on your screen. Click on “Next>”.

2.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears, asking you what Windows
should do. Please choose ”Search for the best driver for your device.
(Recommended)”, and click on “Next>”.

3.) You will receive the following dialog box. Select “CD-ROM drive” and click on
“Next>“ again. Please make sure that before you click on “Next>”, the Windows 98
CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive.

4.) If Windows 98 could not find the correct driver program, the next dialog box will
appear on your screen automatically.

5.) The “Insert Disk” dialog box may appear and ask you to insert the Windows 98 CDROM. Just insert it and continue by clicking on “OK”.

6.) The “Copying Files...” dialog box as shown below appears. Please specify the path
of the device driver files as E:\Win98, assuming your CD-ROM drive is E. Click on
“OK”.

7.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears again. Click on “Finish” and
the installation of the software for your new hardware device has been finished.

Verifying Correct USB Hub Device Driver Installation
If you want to view the correct installation of the device driver for your new hardware
device, please follow the steps as described below.
1.) Go to >”Start”/ >”Settings”/ >”Control Panel" and double-click on the “System” icon.
2.) The “System Properties” dialog box appears. Choose the “Device Manager” tap and
double-click on “Universal serial bus controller”. You will see the following device
has been added:

1.) After starting up your Microsoft Windows 98 operating system, the “New
Hardware Found” dialog box will be displayed on your screen. Then a dialog box as
displayed below appears. Please click on the “Next>” push button.

2.) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears, asking you what Windows
should do. Please choose ”Search for the best driver for your device.
(Recommended)”, and click on the “Next>” button. Same as Figure 2 on page 3.
3.) You will receive the next dialog box. Select “CD-ROM drive” and click on the
“Next>“ push button again. Please make sure that before you click on the “Next>”
button, the Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive.
Same as Figure 3 on page 4.
4.) If Windows 98 could not find the correct driver program, the next dialog box will
appear on your screen automatically.

5.) Just click on the “Next>” button and you will receive a dialog box as shown below.
Please click on the “Finish” push button.

6.) The next “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will display the message “USB
Human Interface Device”. Please continue by clicking on the “Next>” push button.

7.) Please choose “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)”, and
click on the “Next>” push button. Same as Figure 2 on page 3.
8.) Please make sure your Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM
drive. Activate the box “CD-ROM drive” and click on the “Next>” push button.
Same as Figure 3 on page 4.
9.) The following dialog box will display the message “USB Human Interface Device”.
Accept the location of the driver by clicking on the “Next>“ push button.

10.) The dialog box displayed below will inform you that Windows has finished
installing the software for your new hardware device. Click on the “Finish“ push
button.

11.) Now Windows will search for the new drivers for “USB Audio Device”. Click on
the “Next>” push button.

12.) Please choose “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)”, and
click on the “Next>” push button. Same as Figure 2 on page 3.
13.) Please make sure your Windows 98 CD-title has been inserted into your CD-ROM
drive. Activate the box “CD-ROM drive” and click on the “Next>” push button.
Same as Figure 3 on page 4.

14.) The following dialog box will inform you that Windows is searching for the “USB
Audio Device”. Please click on the “Next>” push button to accept the location of
the device driver.

15.) Windows 98 has finished installing the software for your new hardware device.
Just click on the “Finish” push button.

Congratulations! All installation procedures for the USB Audio device driver are
complete, but you still have to ensure that the USB Audio works correctly.
Please follow the next instructions step by step.

Verifying Correct USB Audio Device Driver Installation
1.) Click on the “Start” button from your Microsoft Windows 98 task bar. Select
“Settings”, point at the “Control Panel” item and click on it. The “Control Panel”
window will appear. Choose the “System” icon, double-click on it and a dialog box
as displayed below will appear.

2.) From the “System Properties” dialog box select the “Device Manager” tap. The
following devices have been added to your system:
Under “Human Interface Devices”:
Þ HID-compliant consumer control device
Þ USB Human Interface Device
Under “Sound, video and game controllers”:
Þ USB Audio Device
Under “Universal serial bus controller”:
Þ USB Composite Device
Please make sure that “USB Composite Device” is displayed on the screen, this means
that the USB Audio is registered by Microsoft Windows 98. You can enable the
USB Audio now.

How to Enable USB Audio
1.) Please click on the “Start” button which is on the taskbar of your Microsoft
Windows 98 operating system. Select “Settings” and point at the “Control Panel”
item. From the “Control Panel” window double-click on the “Multimedia” icon.
Windows 98 will display the “Multimedia Properties” dialog box. Please enable
your “Audio” window same as below, then click on the “MIDI” tap. You will
receive a dialog box as shown on the next page.

2.) Under “MIDI output” select “Single instrument” and highlight “Microsoft GS
Wavetable SW Synth”. Just continue by clicking on the “CD Music” tap and you
will receive the last dialog box as shown on the next page.
3.) The “CD Music” dialog box appears showing you the default CD-ROM drive for
playing CD music. If you have more than one CD-ROM drive, make now your
choice. You might also want to adjust the volume for your CD music. Do this by
dragging the slide bare horizontally.

Finally enable the digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device and click on the “OK”
push button, so that all new selections can take effect.
Now you are ready to play Audio CD, MIDI- or Wave files through the Multimedia
Application Program of Microsoft Windows 98. Have fun!
USB Hub-Audio Device Driver Installation Under Windows
98
In order to install the device driver for your USB Hub-Audio device please follow the
installation procedure as described in chapter “USB Hub Device Driver Installation Under
Windows 98”, page 3, step 1 to 7.
After the last dialog box “Add New Hardware Wizard” with the message “Generic USB
Hub” appears click on the “Finish” push button and you may continue by following the
installation procedure as described in chapter “USB Audio Device Driver Installation
Under Windows 98”, page 7, step 1 to 15.

Verifying Correct USB Hub-Audio Device Driver Installation
1.) Click on the “Start” button from your Microsoft Windows 98 task bar. Select
“Settings”, point at the “Control Panel” item and click on it. The “Control Panel”
window will appear. Choose the “System” icon, double-click on it and a dialog box
as displayed will appear.
2.) From the “System
